S!

Do not blame SA community for being good what they do, playing games. They put effort to min/max or spreadsheet stuff or whatever to get the maximum damage/ISK/XP/insert value here. And they play well from what I've seen in EVE, WoT and MWO. So not disliking them for being good

About the synced drop..Today been playing both 8 man D-DC Atlas drops and 4 man drops. 99% of time we were the only 4-man against another + PUGs. In a few matches recognized another group on our side. So not that it need synching to happen, not needed.

Sync dropping is still the only way to have an inter-corps battle without a full 16 people, and the easiest way to play with an odd number like 12 in the same game.

I doubt this is as malicious as it's being made out to be.

Sure its not really malicious for people like you doin it.

However it is malicious for the people doin it so they pubstomp to their hearts content.

I know it sucks for people like you who just want to have some fun with their corp, but stuff like this shouldn't be allowed as anyone else who uses it is purposely ruinin the enjoyment of others for their own gain.

Until they get Phase 3 of Matchmaking active then I would suspect we will continue to see Synch Dropping teams. It sucks that a lot of the 8-man games seem to be composed of teams with at least 6 Atlas D-DC's and often with 1 or 2 Raven 3L's ... all with ECM of course!

Oh, I can imagine. I doubt it's very much fun for the 8-man either. The very few times my corps ends up doing something similar, it's because we want to fight each other but don't have a full 16 to force the 8v8 queue to match us up.

All other things being equal, putting a lance from our corps on one team and another lance on the other still leaves the outcome of the match up for grabs (unless I'm playing, in which case my team will always win ).

Getting rid of 5, 6, and 7 man teams in the team queue was a really annoying move =/. It would be a lot easier just to get 10 people and sync drop 5v5 so we don't have to worry about potentially screwing over a pug team.

You should have seen the sync dropping in WoW, back when a bunch of different servers could all get into the same 40-man battleground queue. 40v40 when ~35 of the people on one side are all on voice is over pretty fast, haha.

not exactly on topic as it wasn't sinc dropping.. just a player on my side in a match who happened to be pugging ended up seeing players from his company/guild/clan... whatever.. on the other team. Instead of taking up honest challenge he chooses to hide and power down the whole match... what a jackass!!

Hey now, let's stop knocking EVE. It's easily one of the best and most original MMOs out there. There hasn't been a game before or since that has the sheer amount of freedom to do whatever the hell you want to.

How did this even turn into a thread about eve/goons/SA? I mean its an 8v8....you are getting even numbers and balanced weight. You dont have coms but thats up to you to type and try to make it work. And the OP didnt even mention them? I played eve (not with them) and I have a generally positive reaction to them being here. They tend to be a very active part of the community and I dont see how that is a net negative.

I have yet to do this but ive fought it and I DONT CARE. Why should it be a reportable offense? Its not an exploit. It is just a team that doesnt wanna do 8v8 sometimes, which can be stressful. Instead they are having a bit of fun in public matches....
Whats the problem again?

Edit: Them = Goons and TL:DR is "Why are people so worried about this?"

So if I understand the OP...

It's perfectly acceptable for 4-man teams to stomp the living crap out of pugs.

But it's not ok for people to double-sync drop and 8-man group to stomp 4-man groups?

Sometimes those 8-man sync-dropped groups are also likely stomping full-on PUGs on the other side. If you don't see a problem with that, then I don't know what to tell you.

People don't seem to realize that once the tide turns in a match, the other side gets slaughtered most of the time. Unless they get a lucky cap. It's not because of a magical group, it's just the way the game works.

I can understand some people being annoyed at the undynamic D-DC 8-man fights and preferring to do it "the old way" because they don't want to simply stack assaults. Doing that though is as "cheesy" as stacking assaults, although it may be more fun.

It will all be okay, comrades. The problem is not sync-dropping. The problem is skill disparity. As matchmaking is finalized and we start to see people drop based on skill level (not just group-size) the playing field will become more level. Matches will feel more consistent.

As for the other side of the argument: people aren't mad at you because you are using team-work... they are angry because you (or very likely your associates) are noob camping. I understand that this might not even be intentional. I'm not blaming you that there's no rank system in place yet. It's not your fault. Really. It's not your fault. But just please try and be patient with the butt-hurts while we wait. It's easier for you to ignore whining than it is for them to ignore losing matches in devastating fashion.

It will all be okay.

I haven't done a sync drop since 8-mans were reintroduced but if I had an 8-man team readying up fast enough and dropping against pubs and getting enough syncing we could make a lot more money even faster.

Taizan, because not all want/can not afford to drive an Atlas D-DC/Raven/Commando/Cicada to get on the ECM bandwagon. I can tell I've been piloting most of my MWO "career" the Dragon and I like it. Maybe it has this big fat CT and "Free XP" tag on it but hey, managed to kill more than die, so I am happy. The game does not need to be a FOTM Fest or Meta/spreadsheet galore to be fun. If you want that then be my guest by all means, but I will fight with one Mech for now

Ya know even if 2 4man groups try to synch their launch for a match, that doesn't mean they will be on the same side all the time. Me and some friends did the synch for launch, and 50% of the time was fighting against each other. 40% of the time we didn't even end up on the same game. It was really only 10% of the time we actually ended up on the same team, but this was after 20 games of synching for launch. So it's not like they will always end up on the same team.

People are still synch dropping? That is some funny stuff if true. Though I kinda doubt it, no one could be that lame.

Oh yeah there are groups easily that lame...

There are a few groups I run into quite frequently and recognize the instant I hit TAB and see their names, that are sync-dropping. I can't think of any time that I've ever seen them do anything but steamroll the opposition. I've yet to see any syn-dropping premades doing anything as 'innocent' as trying to play each other with uneven numbers.

What's sad is that a couple of the groups I keep encountering probably do have what it takes to be competitive in real 8vs8 matches but would sooner exploit the game to stomp pugs than face a challenge.

Its all about stat padding, easy experience and easy money. As much as premades whined about being stuck with pugs, what they meant was pugs on their side. Their actions on the servers tell the truth of the matter. Given the choice to exploit the system and face easy prey, or face organized opposition, the exploit is the only choice many are making.

Its too bad that the forum rules prevent it, but I see some familiar syn-droppers in this thread.

Sync dropping is not going to stop untill theres some form of mitigation in 8 man drops. Though we don't do it i can understand who others do. dropping 8 mans is usually a fest of 400 -600 tons of atlas and another 100-150 tons of other mechs. bringing back weight matching to 8 mans would fix this issue even if people had to wait to drop. right now 1-4 man groups weight match.

I know on training nights we drop in 8 mans but on other days we drop 4 man just to have fun again NOT because we can stomp others, but because we have the freedom to run any mech we want and still be competitive. In 8 mans you have to pretty much go super heavy or super fast to have a fighting chance in alot of cases. there fore people are dropping in assigned mechs in 8 mans. We usually drop 2/4/0/2 in 8 mans, where in 4 mans we drop in whatever.

Again, untill theres some sort of regulation in 8 mans ... sync 4 manning will happen  and theres nothing we can do about it.

imagin dropping in your group of fun mechs and facing 6 atlai and 2 hvys. or 6 ECM Cicada's and 2 Atlai, or 5 4xLL cats 2 atlai and a raven. pugs would cry till they die.... well thats what its like dropping in 8 mans lol

Oh I'm not saying that the current "FOTM Fest" as you call it is a good thing- not at all. Just saying I can understand those that want to fight a battle with 7 other friends but not have to all bring D-DCs with them (if they have them at all on their team). Not everyone is skilled and coordinated enough to be able to counter 600 tons of "stealth death" and trying to fight that may be utterly frustrating. On top of that it will most probably help in practice and improving teamplay.

Its a common thing that players often seek the path of least resistance. For some its the assault stacking, for others its still sync dropping because of the assault stacking.

True that Taizan, not arguing on that either. Just seems "adaptation" is that you just field FOTM builds to play sure. Hardly encourages to diversity even there are fights where these "FOTM lances" get mauled or just simply out capped due their lumbering speed. Game mechanics are what they are and have to live with it so just wishing good fights to everyone
