Oh I think most people know they are walking in front of you, they just don't think it's their responsibility to care. They want the kill and it's your fault if you hit them.
I get hit by friendly fire all the time, It just happens, sometimes it's their fault sometimes it's mine, raging over it solves nothing.

Was there raging in here? I didn't see raging.

People will have to start watching their fire soon...

I have had this happen quite a few times... An "ALPHA" of 65, the Mech dropped, and then the teammate on the other side of the target dropped... I felt bad, but when 3 teammates are trying to "Cherry Pick" a kill, it happens...

I guess it might help, may also create a new way to grief people though. Friendly fire is so common it could go either way, somehow I imagine the people who raged over it before will now just rage over it in reverse. instead of complaining you hit them they'll complain you got in their way.

I thought I got a double kill on Caustic once, until I realized my SRM barrage had killed a team mate who was just over the lip of the caldera.
I was very sorry for both of those kills, but they weren't too upset thankfully.
It's easy to get tunnel vision and 'kill crazy'. I am glad that KDR is going to be of low importance when they do skill ratings.

First time I have seen it happen. I am surprised that so much would carry through. But I am not unhappy with the mechanic, it makes sense. Just another factor to think of.

I wasn't aware I accused anybody here of raging over it? you are aware people often do though?
The phrasing implied that it was directed to here and not a hypothetical. Yes people do rage when TK'd even though it's their own fault.

No - I don't feel guilty when I'm lining up a volley and someone runs into the way during the course of the LL's. Big blue beams people - they're unhealthy.

But hey, I've gotten orange RCTs from friendly fire before, so I guess it's just the circle of life in this universe.

A 'mech doesn't stop on a dime. If you fire those big blue beams into a space I will be occupying in the next second or so there's no way I can avoid being shot - especially if you're out of my field of vision.
The proper response is to yank your big blue beams up and away from your team-mate, not to shrug your shoulders and convince yourself it's not your fault.
I'm not saying there's no situation where there's unavoidable team damage; there is. Sometimes people run into LRMs you've fired several seconds before. There's no way to avoid that. But there's a lot of very common situations where the firer could have avoided it, and your big blue beams sound like just such a situation.

Point to note for PGI ... it can take up to half a second or more from the time I hit the trigger to the shot happening with ballistics & missiles due to my latency. Please consider this when you implement the penalties for FF.
