I've been playing since day 1 of the OB and pug exclusively and used to have a W:L record of about 1/3 and K:D of 0.5and stayed static at those ratios for a while. Recently, last week or two, I had some breakthroughs in understanding of this game and personally got much better leading to a much higher success ratio.
By the time I get to 400 deaths my K:D will hit 1:1 and at about 450 losses ill hit 1:1 for wins. Both stats are rapidly improving, I generally get 2-3 kills a round, sometimes 0 or 1, sometimes 4 it can go both ways. My win percentage went way up as well with a lot more rounds surviving to the end. And win or loss I usually end up in top 3 for both damage and kills overall showing higher personal improvement.
I use team chat to help my team and have a much better understanding of how to help my team, the addition of ECM and 'synced 4-man drops' aren't causing me to do worse, they are just another variable I contend with. I doubt I am some exceptional player that is sooooooo good that I am personally able to overcome all of these obstacles and lead my team to victory, I'm also pretty sure I am not routinely dropping with 4 mans.
I assume expectations for premades going into pugs are skewed because they are expecting more than a narrowly higher than 1:1 win ratio, and people new to the game just haven't made it over the learning hump yet and are looking to find a reason that they are losing so much.
