I never gave much thought to those cute little scout mechs with machine guns until one with a good pilot stayed in my 6 and shredded my armour and cored me!

It's happened twice now. So, yeh, it's a little annoying (being owned my machine guns), but my the****** said I'll get over it :P

Edit: Wow, over sensitive censor there. Perhaps I should have said Pyschologist?

But I only consider myself a man since i've managed to kill a fully armored jenner with a 4-MG Cicada.

That may have been my Jenner. Some months ago. River City - You were capping the southern base?

I've been running my dragon 5N lately just for the sake of variety and I decided to mount 3 machineguns on him. Interesting side effect I've noticed is that some people get mad when being shot by machineguns. Usually it's some banter after they are dead or out of combat but I had one guy actually stop on his tracks and just let me have it in all chat. He is flaming me in the all chat about my machineguns all the while I rip him apart. I found it quite interesting. So what about you guys?

Toss in flamers in your other arm and double his rage?

And this is how an Atlas feels. You're just making him angry.

I have to admit, they drive me nuts. Mainly becasue they are spam. There is no let up, no need because they dont jam/overheat and they do crap damage, so its all for nothing...just audio griefing.

If they were viable anti-mech weapons then I'd be ok with thier usage. But then, I'd hope they'd have a fire duration per trigger pull with a cool down, just like everything else. Or allow people to hold down the trigger as long as they want, but have overheat/jamming model like the UAC/5s.

But yeah, anything that is easy button(SSRM boats) or spam(flamers to some small extent and continous MG firing) is annoying. We might as well be playing an Nintendo shooter.

Dragon pilots who use machine guns should have their dragons taken away for wasting a good mech.

I once got killed by a trial K2 Cat's MGs (I forget which mech I was in but it took out my XL engine).

Felt bad, man.

Actually happens to more people than admit to it I think. Before ECM rushing the Caldera on Caustic became the norm, I found my free accounts stock K2 to have a big advantage in the Caldera Bowl, because I could run the MGs and chain fired mediums pretty non stop. People would shut down in front of me using their big guns, and I would park in front, carefully zoom to pinpoint my aim and just hold down the fire group... sometimes they would restart and try to panic Alpha strike me, and shut back down, other times I would nibble their face to death.

Not saying they are a weapon of choice, or that by themselves they are very dangerous, but can be used to good effect in some builds and situations.

I some time run my hunchback with 2 MG and pingpingping an enemy.
They would stare at me for a few seconds and decide to turn away and ignore me in disgust.
That is when I let them eat AC20 slug in the back.

First I'm bit surprised, then amused, followed by bit of sympathy since I too like the sound of them, but I just can't justify myself to bring them just for that alone.

I wish there was a commando variant that was three missile and six ballistic slots. I would SO load six mgs and three srm4s.

has a positive effect on me because it tells me that 1) they don't have anything good to shoot me with or 2) they're about to over heat

Machineguns are best in large quantities, on a chassis that moves irritatingly fast. Maybe someday we'll have the Piranha in game ;)

Machineguns are a good way to tell how bad the netcode/lag is failing at any given moment without wasting ammo and heat on real weapons.

I am so sad you used the Dragon's ballistic slots for AC/2s.

Go watch the "Salad Cutter" videos by orthodontist. People literally stop fighting and walk away from him when he fires his machineguns... meanwhile he's killing them with his LBX's.

Me, I WANT a weapon system that makes my enemy stoopid.

This is why you should never ignore a machinegunner.

4 MGs, 1 LPL. At least 2 of the kills were MGs doing the kill blow, may've been 3.

i like to narrate in my head when i'm spectating someone using machine guns "inconceivable! my unleashing of small metallic objects moving at moderate speeds appear to be having no effect on this 100 ton mech's armor!" <says the pilot as he's being ignored by the atlas until 30 seconds have passed and the atlas finally notices he's being attacked>

have thought about throwing together a machine gun light for giggles but i have vowed no light shall enter my mechbay unless it is the nigh-invincible Urbanmech!
<disclaimer- this and all other vows are open to be renegotiated by the typist whenever he feels like changing his mind>
