I've heard the above, and similar chat in games over the past few days. Usually crap like this doesn't bother me but i'm getting sick of it now.
If you don't like LRM's go and play something else, like BF3...you can whine about snipers.

And for the uneducated who don't know how this game works, if you want to play a Catapult-K2 you need to play two other Cats to get your K2 xp.
Stop whining at me for playing something i don't even want to play in the first place!

The people who hate LRMs here would rage quit WoT the first time they got 1 shot'd by arty.

So correct Kong, Arty sucked in WoT. LRM's have always been bad when you are in open field with no AMS system. BUT, until the dev's fix the missile travel paths, and cover blowing up the missles, LRM's will suck. BUT again... they have made great updates to LRM flight-paths as I could fire thru MT's in Closed Beta.

"Artillery lends dignity to what might otherwise be a vulgar brawl"

A lot of people want a straight-up brawl, and I understand that, but IMO that isn't really what this particular game is about. We are fighting as a part of a combined-arms force, and that means dealing with indirect fire.

I also think that once the hit detection is fixed fewer people will be drawn to the IDF role, so there will probably be fewer examples of extreme LRM boating.

Snipers need a direct LOS. Do you need one? Didn't think so...

Hell, when I level up my cat I'll eq srm's and beat the **** ouf of anything I meet...

As far as I know, in TT lrmboats weren't as powerful as they currently are in MWO. They are too accurate and do too much damage....

There is more to Playing a LRM support then most people realise.

Im with you, i am the main LRM support guy for my Clan. here is a brief checklist of my tasks when im supporting.

Avoid Enemy Fire
Select the correct target for Missiles
Relay target location to my Team
Relay my target to my team
Avoid enemy lights that break through our line
Track enemy Movement on the battlefield
Request help from my team if i feel like my 2 medium lasers can't disway my attacker
Call out builds and targets to my team
Request target info for mechs that i have lost sight on
Position myself correctly on the battlefield
Target the Enemy
Fire my weapons
Manage heat
reposition as needed
Dont die

Keep in mind your LRM support is far more busy than you give them credit for. Do some LRM people just blindly shoot missiles? Yes but some people blindly shoot lasers and gauss's thats the difference between Skill/winning, and Dying with missiles left to fire.

I carry 1440 Missiles and i usually get all of them away before the match is over. I get 1-3 Kills and 7-8 assists.

My clan wins matches losing 1 to 0 mechs in the fight.

At least you don't randomly get 1 shot by LRMS unlike Arty from WoT. World of Tanks the game where Tanks refused to move out from beside large boulders or house and speeding scouts get picked off from across the map by a single artillery round fired from a yet to be invented hand of god fire control system.

Conclusion: LRMs seem just fine if a tad bit powerful but easily counter-able.

The thing is, everybody does those things, or should. Nothing in your checklist differentiates you from any other player. You are sitting in the back hovering your mouse over red squares. I'm not saying they take no skill or that they are OP (I think they're too strong but no impossible to counter), I'm just confused as to why you think repositioning or talking to team mates makes you special.

QFT... or (and i don't say this often because i feel it's usually uncalled for) New LRM haters, I'll forgive you for not being around for the endless arguments about buffing and nerfing LRM's too get them to a point where they were actually useful, but seriously L2P, If they are tearing you up it's because you are doing something wrong.

Tanks would be so much better being able to have the option to play with no arty

Why is it the first 3 tiers in that game are the most fun? no arty.

no, you need a spotter and teamwork, what do you need with your gausscat?

the funniest part is that a gauss cat pilot is crying about lrms and calling them 'no skill'. irony?

So basically all the same stuff a non LRM player does, minus actually having to aim your weapons?

that list reminds me of a resume of someone who doesn't actually know how to do anything, so they get real desperate and start writing things like Microsoft Word and 'able to use email' just to fill space.

LRM = least skilled weapon in the game. It a good weapon and I'm not saying LRM players are all bad and at end of the day everyone is free to play what they want - but I can't think of any reasonable argument against it being the least skilled weapon in the game. If I had a team of 8 players and I wanted to win, the crappiest players would be assigned to LRM duty for sure.

Useless no skill 140kh scouts! Just hop in scout mech and never slow down. Shoot when you get oportunity.
Useless no skill Gausapult! Just hop in your mech turn on heat vision and zoom then plink away.
Useless no skill SSRMapult! Target Mech get in range, run in circle with trigger pulled, keep torso turned toward enemy.

I could go on. One thing you wont see listed here is Useless no skill PPC....anything.
