-They removed customization of attributes (which affects strategy)
-They removed a skill tree (which also removes strategy of play)
-They added a primary attribute for the "class" (which locks the character in a role)
That's the tip of the iceberg. By creatign these classes and essentially locking them down I could suddenly not create something similar from D2 - the full-auto-exploding-crossbow-X300% attack speed-Assassin with Irathas Finery.
The similarity would have been a witch hunter using a blowpipe from the shaman but doing it WELL.
Now it reminds me more of a shinier Gauntlet game where my options as a player got far more limited.
They took a well executed formula and CHANGED it instead of IMPROVING it.
