Have you ever played any Mechwarrior game before? The "basics" are in the progression of the player-character and their BattleMech, performing in-game functions for small allotments of reward-money that they then can spend on Mech upgrades and customization. The "basics" of the TT BattleTech game were likewise largely about the "art" of designing and customizing your Mechs.

It would literally not be any different than if they simply included a quota of "play THIS many games before you can access the rest of the game". Those C-Bill earnings are completely meaningless, as all of it goes towards your first Mech purchase, which can only be done after several hours.

And until it does, and until I am convinced that PGI can show its ability to learn and adapt and evolve their design, I'll still ***** about it.

That's the conundrum, isn't it. It's more fun for me to play ForumWarrior than it is to play MechWarrior. I actually have almost enough C-Bills to buy one of the smaller, crappier Mechs. But it's taken me a month and a half to do it, because the game is just so un-fun to play in this environment.

I used to, back in August, before things went to **** with the introduction of RNG-dominated gameplay, massive hit detection issues and refunding my Founders package.
The thing is, though, that I want to enjoy this game. Long, long before MWO was announced, back when I still played World of Tanks, I used to dream about how cool it would be to have a "World of Mechs" game, and the possibilities such a game would entail. But I have been repeatedly disappointed by the course of PGI's development of the title, the direction of its metagame and its overall design. I think PGI's done an amazing job so far for such a small, inexperienced studio. I am harsh and unapologetic and overly critical because I want them to succeed. I care a lot about this game.
