The "Basics" of MWO is shooting mechs and blowing them up. Trials are there currently as a way for new players to learn to manage their heat and understand what weapons and chassis are like before they get the toys to blow themselves up in 1 alpha.

Have you ever played any Mechwarrior game before? The "basics" are in the progression of the player-character and their BattleMech, performing in-game functions for small allotments of reward-money that they then can spend on Mech upgrades and customization. The "basics" of the TT BattleTech game were likewise largely about the "art" of designing and customizing your Mechs.

Atleast you're gaining c-bills in trials with no repair costs...

It would literally not be any different than if they simply included a quota of "play THIS many games before you can access the rest of the game". Those C-Bill earnings are completely meaningless, as all of it goes towards your first Mech purchase, which can only be done after several hours.

Quote

Is the system flawed? YES IT IS... I've said that already zvero... but it hasn't changed yet.

And until it does, and until I am convinced that PGI can show its ability to learn and adapt and evolve their design, I'll still ***** about it.

Quote

Now, stop and think though, if you'd PLAYED the game instead of "bitchin" about it all this time, you'd have the c-bills and be in your own mech and possibly having fun.

That's the conundrum, isn't it. It's more fun for me to play ForumWarrior than it is to play MechWarrior. I actually have almost enough C-Bills to buy one of the smaller, crappier Mechs. But it's taken me a month and a half to do it, because the game is just so un-fun to play in this environment.

Quote

Though I'm pretty sure you will never have fun with this game.

I used to, back in August, before things went to **** with the introduction of RNG-dominated gameplay, massive hit detection issues and refunding my Founders package.

The thing is, though, that I want to enjoy this game. Long, long before MWO was announced, back when I still played World of Tanks, I used to dream about how cool it would be to have a "World of Mechs" game, and the possibilities such a game would entail. But I have been repeatedly disappointed by the course of PGI's development of the title, the direction of its metagame and its overall design. I think PGI's done an amazing job so far for such a small, inexperienced studio. I am harsh and unapologetic and overly critical because I want them to succeed. I care a lot about this game.

I don't have the Raven whatever.. or is that a Trial Mech? I have no owned Mechs I can't afford any, I've spent the last month and a half using Trial Mechs because I really can't force myself to play this ****** game with these ****** Mechs on the off-chance that I'll finally be able to have fun sometime down the road.

If a fraction of the time you've spent over the past months creating complaint threads had been spent just playing the game, you might have a better perspective. Alternately, you could have worked one extra hour of overtime over that period and just bought a mech.

Still confused as to why you continue to post here after all this time...

At least I can respect zvero for having good intentions and explains his reasoning's. (Unlike many others)

But anyway, try again in, mid January? Things might be better in your eyes then.

New maps, game modes, mechs and much better new user experience (skill rated pug matches, econ adjusts, etc.)

You care a lot about a "world of mechs" game.

You don't care about Mechwarrior, or Battletech.

And that is where you fail.

Wow that sounds like a garbage solution. Oh this weapon is a tad OP so let's make it randomly blow up because players in competitive online games love nothing more than having their weapons ripped from their hands based on random number generation! Seriously.
gauss Rifles have blown up on a single crit hit for 28 years Zvero... Where have you been? The MMO had been lacking this drawback since I've been in beta.

Your not mission out on much, same crap.

Hawken goes Open Beta tomorrow, they got a hot reception from and awards from PC Gamer and alot of other sites, give that a go mate and let us know what you think.

Why on earth would you want to know what he thinks?

That said alot of nice things in Hawken by the looks. The gameplay doesnt look like my cup of tea but the mech lab and the cockpits and weapon effects etc look fabulous.

1) Learn the difference between turn-based tabletop wargame and first-person interactive online competitive games and maybe we can start communicating on the same level. (inb4 "Oh I know Zverofaust I am so above you etc" generic passive aggressive 60 year old rambling "insult")

2) MMO? lmao!

Already tried it, it looks nice but just doesn't do it for me, everything is so abstract and noisy and I just don't have the time or energy to devote to it.
