What's funny is that he used to be a huuuuuuuuuuuge fanboy/PGI Defender( no offense, we all have our opinions and stances). To see him have doubts about the game is saying A LOT.

Actually, it's perfectly rational IMHO.

I often defended PGI in closed beta because ... even though the game was pretty rough even for a beta test, they were progressing (albeit slowly).

Then they released it in a half-finished (being kind ... more like 30%), buggy state in an effort to monetize. That's ... not a good sign. Anyone who has any experience in business understands what that means.

Us "founders" took a gamble on a second/third tier developer that had never made a game that was above "mediocre", at best, because it was the only way a new Mechwarrior game was going to come about. Sadly, it appears PGI hasn't improved over the years, and this probably isn't going to end well for the fans.

I originally gave them about a 50/50 shot at producing something that wasn't horrible given their track record. I've since reduced that to about 20/80 or 10/90. It's still possible, but not likely.

Collision used to exist, but they decided to take it out for...some reason.

I don't buy that Dragon bowling was causing such a stir to use that as a rallying point.

People played more responsibly with any form of collision in the game. Yanking it out changed the game dramatically and for the worse.

I think most people could deal with ECM as it currently is if collisions were in the game to put the breaks to mass light swarms all running within a foot of their target.

They'd be scrap.

Collision in the game would make them start acting like the scouts they are supposed to be and not aggressor predators out for some dinner.

Oh I remember it completely and I'll even go so far as to say piloting has gotten a tad worse with it's temporary removal(I know it's temporary because of the Command chair heh).

The old system had flaws no doubt, teleporting mechs is always a jarring experience and it didn't exactly look natural to see a jenner get up and appear 10 meters from where it fell over. However I lean on the side that it was better then nothing with the current netcode issues(progress on that solution looks good fyi)

Can't wait to have it back, can't wait to have it back in a way that it works properly and allows for further use of "melee" combat like DFA.

Its in beta, I'm sorry if that does little to ease your frustration, but its a known fact that games are going to have bugs, betas are going to have alot of bugs and issues. The good news is every day a beta goes on there is more data to help eliminate bugs, balance issues, server problems, etc.

My suggestion, if your becoming that frustrated with the game over the issues you experience, take a break (I mean forums, game, everything), even if its just a few days, chances are if you burn yourself out on something like this in beta you won't want to play it on live.

Lastly, players will come back (a little contradiction to my last paragraph), betas typically don't scare off as many players as they do show them what is in store for live, many players will get on a beta play it for a bit say "this is cool I'll have to try it when it launches". Simply put, if all betas that had issues (and they all do) scared off their entire population then I can guarantee you that you would not see 90% of games out there.

Now that many people have tried the game, had bad experiences and moved on (check the internet chatter on MWO if you are not convinced) and with only MechWarrior fans left I think that now is perhaps the time to have an honest discussion of where this game is and where it is headed. Lacking a properly functioning netcode, basic lab interface and hud functionality, information about mechs and weapons systems--just to name a few issues--where is this game headed? I for one am shocked that there has been so little for the developers and the producer on the subject. One would think that they would at least updated us with a weekly or at least bi-weekly"state of the game" producter's letter. I really would like to hear what the developement team of this game is betting on other than the fierce and often blind loyalty of a small group of fans.

We are past the point of "it's beta" or "this is beeing addressed" or "coming next patch". It's time to have a serious discussions about where this game is head with a response from developers of how they plan to overcome the serious flaws of MWO.

This is BETA, and the issues are being addressed.

As stated earlier in this thread I'm 32, so let me know. And also as stated - its released when they say its' released. Crying like a diaper wearing baby (of the 2 month or 65 year old variety) won't change that.

I understand why people get frustrated with the game. Patience can only last so long in plugging away at 4 maps (with different weather), in a beta environment with a plethora of bugs and net code issues. I am not going to give up on this team, and I understand how difficult it is to make a video game. I see the potential and when they get everything sorted out (it will be a while) i hope to stand tall to say i stuck out the hard times and that my resolve was worth its merit (sigh).

Never said it wasn't rational, just that if patience is wearing thin with some of the more die hard people, that's not a good sign for the game. That's all I meant by it saying "A LOT".

I gave them 100% benefit of the doubt because the game was actually in Beta, being rolled out, everything was being tested on a large scale and everything from bugs to delays are expected.

They won't be able to break with the bad business behaviour they have allowed to persist and will indeed only get worse unless there is some kind of change, BIG change for community warfare.

If community warfare launches and is allowed to develop in the crap way the rest of the game has......

Panzerbunny, collisions will be put back in, they were removed due to issues with the netcode...remember...they posted about it at the time...nothing huh?

Igor, all the things you brought in the original post about weekly updates from the devs and them communicating with us about what's going on, where things stand, what they plan on doing...Gaeb told you where...I stated they are on these forums..you bring up moot points because the things you want are already in place!

Again, to call my point moot and ignore the fact that some people are not satisifed with the way the developers are communicating with us does not make the problem go away. I'm not sure how else I can restate this for you so that you may understand. Let me use a concrete example: look at Meteor and Hawken forums and see how they communicate with their fans and address common concerns about the game. Do you see a differance here? No?

For to them you are a heretic, and you shall be purified with their holy flame posts, sanctified by the Moderators of the Lord.

Have a heart friend, for truth you speak will echo these forums in the days ahead, and those that judge you shall be judged in the same manner they have shown others, and on that day of judgement, the words beta shall ring hollow evermore and grant them no mercy. Ishalla."

Pro tip: When adding 10 years to your age on the internet, stop talking and acting as you would if you were your actual age. It really doesn't achieve the desired results otherwise.

Isn't it obvious? You keep typing but all I read is a baby screaming over and over again. You don't get to define when beta ends - the devs do. Its not rocket science. I get your naive idealism and all, but really, grow up.

For the cost of what people are paying for mechs in MC...like..ALMOST full on expenditures you would spend on REAL games.....more is expected.

Not in what they HAVE done, but the quality of it.

You can't have been here from the start and expect to keep riding on faith.

Fool me once. Shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.
Fool me three times and I'll blame someone else, because I'm a moron and should have seen it coming.

"They are not talking to us enough!"
*gives link to command chair*
"That's not what I meant! The game is doomed! They didn't talk about X at all!"
*points to link talking about X*
"Not good enough"

And you people wonder why these threads are moved or deleted. Anyway have fun with the doom and gloom. I'll be enjoying my Mechwarrior game that can only get better.

The issues in the game currently...i still think most of them should have been addressed in either alpha or closed beta...but thats just me...

despite that...its not that bad really. not to mention i get to run around in big stompy mechs and shoot things whenever i feel like it.
