Is this a serious post?

Because the only thing that matters in a mech is hardpoints, right?

It, uhhh, kinda is.

fun fact, Stalkers have only about 60 degrees of torso twist to either side

Sounds unplayable to me. ;)

My SRM6 8R can own an Atlas up close - and at 58ph its not too slow - I am going to kill some Stalkers with it later.

75% of this forum doesn't understand what "balance" means.

Alex, can you please talk about the decision to make Stalker a chicken walker when it appears to have humanoid legs in some of the artwork? I know humanoid on that sort of chassis seems silly, but at least it is something more to differentiate it from the Catapult silhouette.

Let's face it, the real problem is that the Awesome sucks.

I will wager the popularity of the Awesome goes from "Sketchy" (since it was already considerably worse than the Atlas) to non-existant.

It's a huge issue, and you won't see an Awesome on the Battle Field ever again.

I'm going to go ahead and say you're probably wrong about that. Oh wait, no, you are definitely wrong about that. There is no way you can adequately compare the Awesome with other assaults, because guess what, it's a different tonnage and mech altogether with it's own strengths and weaknesses.

To be fair, according to some of the artwork, the Stalker's legs bend both directions at will, which ends up looking REALLY stupid. So it looks like they just went with the one they thought looked best.

OP, why should the devs try to balance an 85 ton Stalker against an 80 ton Awesome?

This. Have fun being circle strafed with no arm mounted weapons.

You get one assault for one assault. So if someone brings a gimped awesome, the other team can get a good atlas. Just like if they bring the horrible K atlas, the other team gets an assault that may or may not be an equally gimped K.

So yes, they're easy to compare, and you need to take your roleplaying elsewhere. Awesome is bad.

I say this as someone who has three, and Kong in general loves awesomes.

well there's thing like torso twist speed and stuff too. not that the awesome is particularly good at that either.

Compared to the Stalker the Awesome is going to move like a Olympic Gymnast

When we will have actuall Matchmaking, then a Awesome would be better to field.
Because you can only Sustatin PPC fire on 3x PPC.For anything else you can't cramp enough Heatsinks in it
and even this is hard to do.

Yes you can putt secondary armament into your Mech, but that will increase your Combat Value... So when you go for the 5 ton lighter PPC's spezialised Mech, the Awesome, then you will have much lower Combat Value to field... which Means that you are not pittet against a Stalker but an other Awesome or Cataphract.

The Stalker will almost everytime be pittet against an Atlas or an other Stalker due his many Hardpoints.

But this will only come in live when the Phase3 MM is introduced.

Then there will be balance, atm the Stalker is stronger yes... but i got the Stalker and the Awesome in BT...
and guess what, due BV value i almost everytime preferred the Awesome.
As the Stalker is a Jack of all Trades High BV mech. Like the Atlas...
so i freed up the BV for the BNC-3S instead of taking my Stalker.. but occasionally i took him into field.

Ffs, people, some things are just better than others. Of course, this isn't license to have make something OP, but some things do make others obsolete e.g., DHS makes SHS obsolete - I know it doesn't in MWO, but it should. Streak SRMs make SRMs obsolete, hence why the Clans don't use dumb fire SRMs. SSRMs are just a straight-up improvement in every way.

What's everybody's obsession with everything being balanced?

Sadly, you can put just as many ERPPCs on the Stalker as the Awesome... and still have 4 missile bays and an extra AMS to boot.

Seriously? You want an entire Line of Mechs obsolete before the game even exits Beta? Really?

The MM system has never taken into consideration # of hardpoints and it never will. What it "might" take into consideration is the great equalizer: "Tonnage". But for 5 tons you get 4 extra hard points... those are the most powerful 5 tons you'll ever get.

Why do people think Assault mech means Brawler? The Stalker is designed as a Long range fire support mech.... Once they sort out ECM and LRMs again it will more then come into it's own..
