After a bit of playing around on my new 5S, I settled on a TAG, Beagle, 2 AMS, LRM15 x2, LRM10 x2, and 4 ML.

If you go in smurfy or the mwowiki you can usuallly see the number of missile tubes in each area. The arms only have 10 tubes and the side torsos only have 6 tubes. If you use more lrm or srm than this then they putter out in 2nd and 3rd volleys. Peek, fire, duck is the LRM boats life, embrace it.

Don't ever use more lrm than the number of missile tubes, because you will waste a lot of ammo, most of the time you will only fire one volley and then duck under cover. Your enemies will be doing the same, so if you fire more than 1 volley you lose the lock too far before the 2nd volley (and 1st volley lots of times). I always use 2 LRM10+art and 2 LRM5+art on my 5M (has the same number of missile tubes as the 5S). This allows for lots more ammo, and less wasted shots.

If I am going full lrm boat I will carry 2000 lrm rounds and fire them off 30 at a time like this. LRM20s are always a waste on stalkers except the 3H that has 20 tubes in each arm, 50 tubes is the max in the game at the moment, so you are definitely still top of the heap with the 3H.

Thinking about getting a 3H too. Not sure why I have the urge to sling LRMs though.

Good advice all around, and I'm debating getting the 3H and making that one the LRM boat and then converting the S to a more conventional SRM or LL brawler. It just seems, with the total dominance of ECM, LRMs are pretty much wasted. I still do a lot of damage here and there, but it's always when an enemy is relatively close (500m or closer)...which kind of defies the point of a "long" range missile. Hoping they tweak the ECM soon. Not holding my breath.

The tubes is a good point - hadn't seen that part. Really, I started with the S because the AMS saved my butt so many times as a CDA pilot. I haven't regretted having it on the Stalker, either. Like I said before: maybe not the most effective power-gamer build ever, but it's fun.

Me either, honestly. I think I just wanted to switch it up from other mechs, all of which are scouts or med- to short-range. I kind of wanted to be the one to sit back and benefit from others' TAGs and lock-ons. Unfortunately, most people seem to just shoot wildly rather than lock in their targets and it seems like TAGs are real rare, given the prevalence of ECM.

I'm running like 250std ES 3ppc tag 2 lrm10 Artemis on my 5M and its quite nice. That or 5 ssrm2. Everything is trying to get away from you, minimum tag range hasn't be a problem. If you want 300 then go xl no endo and cut a ppc or something.

Stalker STK 3F

I really enjoy enjoy this build and it does me well. also not too sure on missiles right now so..

21 dbl HS
2 x ER PPC
2 x LG PULSE
Endo
STD 305

i have an alpha strike as well as a chain fire and then the 2xPPC and 2x Pulse

will often chain fire an opponent and blast them in the face with alternating pulse and ppc, then wait a few second and blast a few alphas.

its decently maneuverable and the non xl makes it last forever...

My brawling stalker STK-3F

STD 300
DHS 19
6 Mlaz
3 SRM6
1 SRM4
1 AMS
512 Armour
Artemis IV
Target Info Gathering module

Nasty piece that you don want to run into in river city or frozen city, but not so good when caught in the open like alpine. Does run hot in prolong engagement.
Open up with 22 SRMs and use the 6 Mlaz to exploit weak component on the victim. Module to help with pinpointing weak spot faster.

Change the 2nd srm6 in the right torso to a srm2 or ditch it all together for Artemis. You see how it says (7) above the right torso? There are only 7 missle tubes so the 2nd launcher will fire the missiles one at a time, the infamous 'narc tube' on the 5M. Trust me, you won't miss that extra missile. If you want put a ssrm2 in there, works quite well at killing lights.

I dropped a missile rack and a heat sink but it still says I haven't the room for Artemis.

It takes 1 ton and 1 slot per launcher.

So after playing with LRM boat for a bit, and absolutely loving it (took a little getting used to), I've branched out to a 5M.

Following what others have said, I'm going for the SRM4 x4 (Artemis) built with a 5 ML and an AMS.

Due to my new-found love affair with Stalkers, I also plan on getting a Misery in the near future and building it thusly (AC20, x2PPC, x2ML):

This mech has done pretty good. I recomend it.
Stalker 5s
x2AMS (1 amo)
x4 streaks (2 amo)
x2 med L
x4ppc
dubble heat sinks
XL 275

Basic idea keep good armor range speed and firepower
Gameplay: cycle fire PPCs till they get in close, then hit them with the streaks. Simple, easy, fun.

I really liked my 6 LL 4N the most I think. It's probably better to run this build on the 3F, but I hate wasting missile slots. The 4N only has 3, and 3 missiles don't do crap these days. Therefore, the 4N seems like a good STK chassis to run builds consisting solely of energy weapons.

3 streaks versus lights is plenty. lrm20 isn't viscious but it's enough to do the job, obv lrm50 would be better. :)

Newbie here...I've had a lot of fun with various configs in the 3F, but recently I decided to give the "silly" 4PPC 300XL approach a try in the STK-M, along with a Gauss.

As long as I don't do something stupid like try to brawl, or wander around solo, it's really amazing how well this loadout works. I usually follow an Atlas or other tank around, and soften up targets for them, dropping in two alphas before stepping aside.

It's a lot of fun to play, but still requires some thought to be effective.

I'm planning on getting a 3F with my next Stalker and then going for the Misery. A little planning ahead, these are three builds I threw together for a Stalker brawler.

These are familiar designs that have been tweaked from what others have done. I've noticed that the thing that keeps my Stalkers alive is a bigger engine. Not an XL, because I've had far too many games end with one or both of my arms and torsos blown away, and my Stalker still slugging it out with the lone CT weapon.

That's not an option with the 3F, but I'm still wary of going with an XL. While you'll never win any foot races, the big engine does allow you to spin and twist faster, which is a life-saver when you inevitably get cornered by those Ravens and Jenners.

This one's a mid-range brawler that's pretty similar to the 5M I'm running right now, with an extra two MLs:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...6da26cc8f38b23b

The second version drops some armor and some overall punch for a little more long-range reach with a pair of LLs replacing two of the MLs. The missiles all drop to SRM4s, which are less powerful, but seem to be more accurate.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...69db7715fa6c62e

This final one was to make a 4x LPL Stalker that could move relatively quick (compared to the stock model), had near full armor, and, most importantly, enough heatsinks to fire near continuously:

And this one, because I wanted one that could breathe fire:

Flamers are useless. I'd suggest not stacking similar range weapons. It's cool to have like both PPC and SRM because they overlap in ranges, but when you are closer generally fire the SRM and PPCs from farther range. If you lose a side torso you will still be able to fire off some punishment between 100m and 400m. 4LPL build is ok, but there are better builds out there for sure.

You will never be able to fire 6ML and 4 SRM6 with any consistency, it is just too hot.

The 4N has no purpose. It's literally a clone of two other chassis' but with things removed.

Yes, it is the rediculous mech with a funny hat. Doesn't even have more module slots. For better or worse [ ] Mechwarrior Online has balanced mechs well. How in the hell is there the atrocity that is the 3L and then so many gimp mechs like the 4N. Please fix this junk....

Hahaha - the Flamer is solely for looks and not actual purpose. I just want to kill someone and then breath fire on the smoking hulk of their corpse while they watch. :P
