i do really well in this build. i have very good map awarness so i stay out of harms way because i see it coming a mile away.
once you have mastered this which i already have, you will pwn mechs with your superior damage and positioning.

you dont need much armor as a lrm boat only good positioning and the illusion of armor.

enjoy your welcome!!

Holy cow!! LRM madness!

I get my best results with my STK's running something alot like the Balanced build. That recipe has gotten me by far the best results in terms of matches won and Kills to Deaths ratios the entire time I've played MWO. I generally run SSRM2's instead of the larger SRM launchers to deal with lights that come knocking. STK's have such a crap turn rate I don't really count on being able to line the little ******** up for direct fire. With the weight saved I try and mount a Beagle to offset the friggin' ECM.

Since the end of May I mostly play with Stalkers with this kind of setup: STK-5M works pretty well.

Ahhhhh! Interesting! I have mine setup pretty much exactly like that, but with the standard 255 engine, MPL's instead of the ML's, and an Artemis system installed. For all my STK's, which I use LRM's as a big part of their arsenal, I use Artemis. The faster locking speed and tighter grouping are huge helps.

Although the slow stock speed is one of my pet peeves about the STK's. Maybe I'll bump it up to a 300 engine and give it a try.

I rarely use Artemis on my stalkers. Not because I don't think it's good, but more to save space and weight. Plus my play style with these kind of Stalkers is, first shoot up all your LRM's. Then close with enemy. That way I spread damage over multiple mechs and with the ML I can shoot the parts of that are damaged. Ofcourse the SSRM are thrown in the mix like damage spreaders and against the bane of Stalkers, Light mechs :(

My build.
This rig is a brawler at heart, and works best in one versus one or one versus two situations when it's alone. In a group, it is best as the build that gets behind the enemy or as the build that draws the attention of one or more enemies from in front with allies taking anything that gets behind it.

This build is devastating as a brawler even against PPC boats, but it cannot actively take one more than one PPC boat at a time.

The implementation of this mech highly benefits from the use of stealth tactics. Enjoy!
Done right

Koni, Love the flamer build, seems fun.

Ozone's Bas Turraing ('Shock Death')

Standard structure and armor, DHS, 310XL, full armor
ERPPC, 2 PPC, 3ML, 4 SSRM (2t ammo), AMS (1t ammo), BAP

Groups:
1) Arm PPCs
2) Chest ERPPC
3) 4 SSRMs (chained)
4) 3 MLs (chained)

Groups 3 & 4 can be spammed simultaneously with no fear of overheat. BAP works well by increasing range of SSRMs, decreasing lock time, and shutting down ECM within 150m. Watching lights change tactics from 'Kill the fat hulk' to 'Get the hell out of here as soon as possible' makes me snicker every time.

With the recent buff to SRM damage I have been running this build with great success http://mwo.smurfy-ne...8dceaa2a2dd9df6 and man does it put out the damage, also runs efficient when it comes to heat.

Stalker 3F
STD-255
18 Double Heatsinks
4 Large Lasers
2 Medium Lasers
2 SRM 6 + Artemis
1 AMS
2 tons of SRM + Artemis ammo
1 ton AMS ammo
480 armor

I primary with my large lasers as they have the most damage and range. I'll usually chain them in groups of two to avoid heat penalties. When my heat level starts to get uncomfortable, or when the fights start to get really close; I transition to my medium lasers and SRMs. I'll have to admit that I'm not the best pilot as, more often than not, I get ganged up on and demolished fairly easily. However, I usually deal at least 200-300 damage per match.

My pet Stalker is built as follows:

3H chassis
Dbl Heat sinks
300XL
4 Medium Lasers
4 LRM-15
10 tons of LRM ammo

It doesn't brawl very well, but is generally fast enough to keep out of serious trouble. But the 4 medium lasers represent enough up-close punch to convince someone to go elsewhere when correctly piloted. There's enough ammunition to keep firing through most matches. And, if you have good spotting support, there's even enough ammo to clean out entire enemy teams.

I have the similar build, except I use a 300STD engine and have Artemis for all 4 SRM6.
6 Mlaz on chain fire and SRM6s firing in pairs, never suffered a heat shutdown yet.

Problem is this thing is slow as moss and only effective in <300m range.

Here's the 3F build that I run and have found to be very effective:

STK-3F

I group the arm and torso lasers separately so that I have a group of 2 for riding the heat curve more efficiently while still being able to use my SRMs. The LRMs are the token long range weapon and are decent at softening up targets before you engage them directly.

Hello, first post and first own build. I'm currently playing an medium-to-close range Centurion brawler and having a blast with it, and slowly getting enough money for my second mech. I thought of something long ranged for a change, and tried to come up with a Stalker build of my own. I'm quite sure it's stupid as hell, so it would be great if you guys could post some feedback and help a fresh Stalker pilot out. :)

Here's the build
STK-5M LRM Boat

EDIT:
Here's a similiar idea, but on a STK-3F. Same price.
STK-3F LRM Boat
