Following the patch, I frequently get this error message when I'm in the profile/launch screen after about a minute. Needless to say, it's gamebreaking. I added MechWarriorOnline.exe and MWOClient.exe to the firewall exceptions. Also, I changed my anti-virus program. Both to no effect. This is very unfortunate since I have a premium account and the clock is winding down.

I don't have any problems staying connected with other online games.

Since this thread is getting necro'd, I'd like to answer it once and for all... the "session was lost" message means that the servers have been taken down, presumably for a patch, hotfix or for maintenance. You are able to see the status of the servers at the top of the website, so look up at the bar (it is sandwiched between the "redeem" icon and the social media icons!) Cheers guys- and welcome to MechWarrior Online! Good luck on the battlefield!

It sounds like a network timeout error. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling?

I did a complete re-install yesterday, also getting this issue. If I do manage to get into a game then within a minute the following happens;

1) My controls become unresponsive.
2) I teleport to a seemingly random position behind me.
3) Logged out with "Session is lost" message.

I also regularly have this issue but only upon exiting a match after it has concluded. Before loading back into the Home/Mechbay area it will display "session lost" and return to the login screen. It is only an issue with this patch. It has never happened to me before. Easily half the matches end this way now...

Same here as Banerellik,

Usually (but not always) after a match has concluded I get dumped to login with "session was lost" message. Sometimes it happens before a game has been played, and very rarely during a game. IN game lag is non-existent. The session losing seems to have something to do with mechlab itself and the loading of the user data as it is slow to load (the amount of money/exp etc.) Many times, even after all the user info in mechlab is there, the Mech Exp shows "NaN".

Again, in game lag is nill. My firewalls are down. This has only begun following the Dec. 18 patch.

I will not be purchasing premium time again.

I uninstalled the game and re-downloaded/re-installed and the problem still persists. No lag in the game and I've never had session lost just setting on the home screen. It's always after a match. I was in a 4 man group and something that seemed to work and let me return to the home screen after a match with no errors is having the group leader kick me out of the group before I exit the match. When doing this I never got session lost. Obviously this is only a workaround for group play. It's still an issue if you're soloing.

I use ethernet connection, don't download anything, don't run any unnecessary programs and I still get this error. I only use TeamSpeak and Fraps while playing MWO and I'm not going to stop. I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong on my side and that this bug came with new patch.

Ya, it can't be on the client end. Played 20-30 matches again today and came away clean every time as long as the group leader kicks me out before I return to the home screen. If not...session lost.

Bump for a very annoying bug.

I just encountered this issue for the first time tonight. Twice I lost my session, followed by the mechlab not loading and game invites not registering. This is the first time I've encountered this issue after months of consistent gameplay. No other programs were running, I use an ethernet connection, and my firewall is properly configured.

same here. exact on 8.00 pm UTC+1 i started to get this error massage and the "network lost", too.

When i login again, the home tab loads forever and on the right side on the news place there is a "can not receive news feed"
When i click on this label, then the explorer window opens with the path of the installation directory of MWO.
After ~10 seconds the connection is again lost.

Seems the MWO servers are at heavy load, or is there a DDOS attack going? Just curious.

Got the same problem since today, but after the first time i:ve been disconected the game wasn't able to start.
One of 3 things happened all the time.
1.) "The Session was lost" massage appeared while i trying to connect
2.) "A network error occured" massage appeared while i trying to connect
3.) Am able to connect, the starting screen shows up, but it takes more than a few seconds(1 minute to more than 10) to load the Mechs. And after the mechs where loaded point 1 or 2 occured
My Clanmates told me i was showed up as "online" all the time
I tried again after a while (90 min or so) because i thought maybe there was a failure with logging out or so. But the same as previously happend.

Before all of that happend one thing was strange, it took a very long till the luncher started. One or two tries( after shooting the process structure) the luncher started again but very slow again.

Hi Guys,

I hope your department for transmission engineering looks into this.

I have also the issues "network request timed out", "a network error occurred", "the session was lost" etc. error.

Similar when these issues occur access to mwomers.com is also slowed down like using an old ISDN connection.

I did traceroutes to mwomercs.com, you see the issues begin from the 7th hop on.
I hope this can help you to resolve the issue.

I also have to add that me is customer (provider) of Deutsche Telekom AG, when I have this issue some other with for e.g. O² as provider have no issues.

I don't remember anymore right when I was employed at a european fibre provider, but this could be the peering point from Deutsche Telekom AG here in Germany to the USA?

I feel it's Deutsche Telekoms fault, but would appreciate if some engineer could confirm.

Guys, which Internet provider do you use?

I have the same issue with Deutsche Telekom AG as provider.

The packets are dropped between or afte the peering point of Deutsche Telekom AG and Tiscali (tinet) in Frankfurt.
That is what I see from traceroutes I did.

Reinstalling client, using cable instead of wireless lan etc. will not solve this issue by the way.

I also see similar to this problem mwomercs.com is very unresponsive. I hope this reply will go through, the last was dropped I tried.

You can do a tracert to mwomercs.com for yourself to check at which hop(s) you have the issue, if you don't know what this means, just ignore this .

I also had a phonecall with the support of my provider, they confirmed that already some customers reported the same issue to them and forwarded my request to their department for analysis.

I hope this means the issue gets sorted out and it was not a nice way to tell me it went to the trashcan.

Hello,

I have the same problem like SoulView and Flusensieb. Also a Customer of Deutsche Telekom AG. The first time this happened to me was a few days ago. It did last for a couple of hours but after that I had no more problems till today.

I tried to reinstall the client, temporary disable the firewall, reset the router. Nothing solved the problem.

P.S. It only effects this game and mwomercs.com. I don't have any problems with other games having their server on the other side of the Atlantic :P
