I was under the impression that home-sla still had issues with support and overhang.
Fair enough!

I'll be attempting TT scale prints on my MM3 soon enough so, we'll see how that goes~

Made good progress getting my printer calibrated - test print of orion torso worked a treat - planning to make some tweaks to make it even sharper - but pretty pleased with progress already!

The Peachy Printer is almost available for general sale.
Looking forward to having that mini SLA printer to go next to my MM3. :)

I'm not a fan of top down printing like the Peachy, but its certainly great to see more and more low cost devices hit the market - the more the better, as it will drive down consumables and device costs, and fast forward technology development in the field.

My Mendelmax 3 has cost me enough, and is needed for my main thing....
For the tiny extra's I need and pissing about, the Peachy is more than sufficient.

I could go for a better one, but I'd have to spend as much as I have on the MM3 again - and that'll be for another FDM when I get enough sales to do so.

- That said, for anyone looking for a PLA printer, as amazing as my MM3 is (and I recommend the thing to anyone who wants a printer), the E3D Big Box looks to be a great alternative so far, especially for those in Europe. (and will likely be my second printer)

I definitely fancy a good FDM for general purpose or bigger stuff (who doesn't want a 12" tall Atlas to play with!) - though the SLA is the way to go (IMO) for printing tabletop scale stuff due to the resolution.

Here's my latest attempt, still some support tweaking, dropping to 25micron Z-res and some exposure adjustment to do I think, but its most of the way there!

The quality the MM3 is capable of is crazy.
I've printed WH40K Boltguns to to tt detail at .1mm layer height.

For example: (spoilered because it's semi-off topic)
Spoiler

None of these have had any finishing work done either, that's straight off the printer.
(The painted ones have just been painted.)

Need to get round to ripping and printing a Locust too.

Go to the materials for that object. Delete the material. Click the + button to add a new one and select the appropriate material (<mech>_body or <mech>_variant).

And again, all the good time . Delving into the archives of the game , I faced with 2 interesting problems . The first is that if you use a script in a model of the crab , I as I can not find the upper part of the claw . Where have they gone ? If they want to add their own , maybe someone will tell the name of the file. Posted Image
And the second problem is that I refuse to load a script imports into the console Blender . You receive the following error. Posted ImageAt the same time with other models , I have not experienced such problems . Thanks in advance for your help .

For some reason it can't find a file it was looking for. In this case it was c:\users\<username>\MWO2\objects\mechs\urbanmech\body\um_um_right_arm_forearm_ac2_bh4.obj.

Check to see if that file is in that directory, although.. it's weird because I see "um_um_right_forearm" and my brain is telling me that there should only be one um_ in that. May be a bug in the script, may be a bug in the game file.

So, I don't just do MWO mechs. I also program and do a bit of Blender. And I'll even stream on Twitch while I Blend. Especially on Blendsday! Which is just Wednesday for a couple hours, but I have old projects I've been trying to finish up, and this gives me some dedicated time to work on them. My channel is http://twitch.tv/heffay_blends. Check it out some day!

Here's the result of my latest work. Soooo much to do, but this is a long term project that I'll probably import into Kerbal Space Program some day. :)

Hurrah - my Funtodo "Deep Black" Resin has shipped, looking forward to trying my Orion kit at 25 microns this weekend (assuming it actually arrives tomorrow!).

Still a bit small for my liking - I'm going to scale up all the parts 20-25% and rerun. I also haven't got the resin settings and support structures totally dialled in yet, hence some rough bits on this test . Remember that mini is only about 1.25" tall assembled at present though, so the detail is already pretty good :)

For Illustration. I need to work out how tall a tabletop scale Orion should be... Anyone?

For size comparison. Currently smaller than a commando, definately needs beefing up somewhat :PPosted Image

If you use straight MWO scale, the models are built in M in the thing.
The Orion is 17ish meters

At 1:285, that would be roughly 59mm.

At the laziest, roughest equation - if you export the STL in MM (17ishmm), then scale it by 3.5 in the print, you'll get basically the right size, within a half mm or so.
At least for MWO scale.

Yeh, I just conferred with some of my tabeltop group for their input - and I'm going to use the IWM "Big" Atlas (mine pictured is the smallest one) as my tabletop reference point, and scale everything from there.

So a MWO Atlas will be the top end of my scale at 2.5" tip to toe, and the Orion will come in at about 2.25" - (1.8x bigger than it currently is, or 3.6x the MWO model export basic size - so you're pretty much bang on the money Ovion).
