that doesn't mean they're making any money, but I'm not fearing that they'll go THQ on us in the next half year

Why is it important for you to know how many people are online? Besides conspiracy theories?

I must agree. Information is bad. May lead to thought errors.

Don't you conspiracy theorist have more important things to worry about, like the world ending tomorrow?

Forum users.... not registered users. yes they are different. You need to multiply that by [redacted] to get the real registrations.

what would be the point of this? you can't send anything to other accounts. you split all your earnings and exp. there's no matchmaking that would give you smurf advantages.

I did the same Oberservation, on some daytimes, there are around 70% founders in the Games, on other Times you can wave hello to the other Founder in a Game if there is one...

Asuming that the Hardcore Players are most likely Founders... that make it up. On certain times the Server are weak populated and you meet the Crack and you are fighting like hell, on other Times it's happy shooting Hour.

Personal Opinion: When PGI brings a Counter of Players online, they should make it like in Steam:
A Server statistic showing the last 48 Hours as graph and the aktual Players Number.
So we see the Up and downs of the Days and can compare them to the Day before.
And when clicked you get the whole Week.

That would be the only realy helpfull Implementation of a Players Online Counter.

You know you can turn your founders tag off (in game not on forums), if for instance you are ashamed of having supported PGI, or you like the psychological damage you cause when a group of 8 "non" founders crush an 8 man of legendary founders.

You want to tell me that the MWO Forum has 400,000 users?

So, MW:O forums are actually 4x larger than Neogaf with around 93,000 members? Hard to believe.

@Buddahcjcc

As mentioned before, those numbers are shown on the main forum page, at the bottom.

On December 18 we had for the first time more active users online than on the spike-day in September, the time in between there were just around 1000 online in the forums.

No offense but we know as well as you do that if the number was positive it would be splashed all over the place, like the forums accounts was when they hit 500k or a million or whatever it was in CB

If it were me, I wouldn't. Even if MWO had 50 million subscribers, people would cite the fact that they saw the counter showed 49.9 million on one night as anecdotal evidence that the game was dying. As has already been mentioned, I cannot think of a real reason why anyone really needs the information or what real positive purpose it serves other than for people to watch like vultures for a downward trend.

It matters not how many people are online - playing the game. It's like personal stats, nobody really cares except the people who are asking. In the long run, it adds nothing to the game except e-peen.

You'll know when there aren't enough playing when the game goes dark one day.

I wish I could believe this, my experience *admittedly anecdotal* is that I end up playing against the same few people constantly.

It could be a function of low player base in my peak gaming hours but even so :\

Are you launching almost immediately after every match? I have noticed that I get some not all of the same players if i do this. Same if I wait a few matches. Especially if they are playing the same mechs as before. Kind of like syncing a 8 man there's a good chance you'll play against each other again. I notice the same people over time. That is days. If your playing 50 matches a day your bound to run into people constantly. I think I back to backed a 8 man twice since doing them. Also I'd like to note I get less search drops doing 8 man over standard. So you may be playing at some freaky times or just have bad luck. I don't know. You also need to take into consideration this game doesn't require 4 hour raids. I'll drop in run 5 matches take off for a few hours and come back. I can be the only person in my TS for an hour then 8 people will pop on.

They won't bring it back because the numbers are lower than they were in closed beta; which is quite frankly embarrassing.
Their excuse was that the tiny counter took up too much bandwidth or something.

Actually - particularly last patch - they went up quite a bit, so that was nice to see.
