I usually don't drop on the weekends or in the evenings (GMT -5) because of my work schedule, so I was astonished to run into some pretty extreme trash-talking and vulgarity this evening. Now, to clarify, I certainly don't mind profanity when it is useful for emphasis, emotional stress, comedy, etc. This was just... different. It certainly wasn't in good fun, that's for sure... quite the opposite. And it was a whole team of supposed-sync-droppers doing it, at match beginning and after they were dead (yeah, a pug beat some sync-droppers who "weren't trying").

So... is this normal for US Primetime social interactions? It was very disappointing. I didn't run into this kind of behavior in SWTOR, and I assumed that would be pretty bad based on its poisonous forum population.

Welcome to what a lot of PUGs are experiencing. I'd dispute your assertion that you can't find such behavior in SWTOR though, my old server there was pretty bad.

This is, unfortunatly the worst population I've seen in a game. But only because there really isnt a game yet, if you look beyond the negativity and exploiters I think there is a community of really good people. Just wait the diamond will shine once we have a real war game driven fight for planets, manage resources type game

That's odd, I've only seen that a handful of times (US based, CST). Sure there's trash talking, but rarely have I seen it get nasty/overtly profane.

Have others experienced a lot if this? I've found most of the people here and in game to be quite friendly and helpful.

I haven't really run into this much. Yes, the occasional sync drop try hards show up and they're never pleasant. But, prime time is usually no different than any other time except when we decide to drop 8 mans it's instant and against different teams every time instead of the same teams over and over late at night.

Some of the people in my game were talking about lore, and this badkid typed "NERRDDDS" into chat.
Like, are you fugging kidding me? It's a battletech game. Its based off of a table top game. Lore comes with the territory. And I like that.

I made sure I was going to target him as soon as I spotted him, but someone beat me to it.

Ha actually I came backto say

A. FYI, KOTOR SUX BAD, so to compare might not be fair
B. Not player driven, so of course as you run around fighting really stupid AI in really stupid groups around the map, ARHG I can even go on, what the hell makes people like MMOs GHAAAD

I like the guys that type "Your lives...I claim them" and then don't get any kills.

3-6 AM EST is now the LRM spamming hours. They don't show up in the day time though.

If people are being very nasty in chat and/or sync dropping, report them.

Just rest easy knowing they probably don't have much of a life, extremely unlikely to be having sex and hopefully as a result won't be polluting the gene pool further by spawning more of their ilk.

I see less trash talk in-game then you, but way more sync-drops.

Maybe I was real lucky in my time with TF2, but it seems like we've sucked in a pile of Konsole Keds, though …

I play this game at all different times of the day and I haven't seen much vulgar chat. I would say I usually don't see any but when I do it is usually somebody QQ'ing about his team, ecm, glitch, or something like that. And the only trash talk I've seen is a quick little remark or is at the very start of a match but thats only been a few times and wasn't vulgar. Seen some pretty cocky people over-hyping themselves but thats about it.

I dont mind trash talk, I think its all in good fun. The real problem is exploits, when compared to the table top, I dont know I play a lot of war games via board games, and the community is so .......fair, I simply hate to see one of the beloved games get hoared out by people exploited with the win > fun attitude, really sad to see on such a game with such a dynasty

But will there be any community left by the time PGI adds a "game." So far I'm seeing a year out before we get Community Warfare. We haven't heard anything about CW since last summer. That usually means the project has been canned. That was supposed to be the thing that sets this game apart from WoT so you'd figure that PGI would be telling us how far along they are.

I won't be playing this game for much longer as I see no evidence that PGI knows what they are doing and wants to do Battletech justice instead of a bad WoT clone.

I also think a lot of people are leaving... taking a break etc. You just have to look at the fewer number of people logged into the forums and how many new forum posts. A month ago there were 400 people online on the forums at most hours. Now barely 200. That suggests around a 40-50% drop in population.

I'm extremely pessimistic about this game and am starting to come to the conclusion that the funds that were gained from the Founder's program were diverted to other projects.

This game has sort of turned into the energy investment of a facebook or java game title.

I love it when someone calls someone else a nerd, when they're playing the SAME internet video game (and about giant robot wars in the future, in this example). The only way it's better is when it happens in an online forum about said game. The irony levels should poison them to death but unfortunately that doesn't happen.

Seen it and ignored it.

It really doesn't bother me. However, it does imply a sync drop. And, of course, I hate discourtesy.

I've also inferred that the trash-talk can get your feathers mussed at the start of a match and really blow your concentration. Just ignore it. focus on the mech that you need to kill. One mech at a time...

Cheers! And Merry Christmas!
