If this is the worst community you have seen (for trash talking) then you need to get out more. Try out Darkfall, or WarZ. Compared to those games MWO is kindergarten. (not talking about forums or the game play, just the trash talking smacktards)

I just want a /ignore <player name> feature in the game, then I'm all set.
This would just let me ignore the 20% of the players that toss profanity and filth out there, and just enjoy the game =)

Yesterday upon killing a some poor fellow I along with everyone else in the match was assaulted with a flurry of froth filled profanity slung out by the man I had just killed. he spent the next two minutes of the round throwing a temper tantrum about how he is the best player in the game and pugs are literally downs, it was very strange...

I had a guy cuss out people on my team (after they had killed him) about their PING of all things. He about 250, they had about an average of 200. So he says "Nice PING fa**ots". So I trolled the heck out of him. Y U MAD THO etc etc.

It's annoying to see people downgrade utter vulgarity into simple trashtalk. Even worse, pointing to another game and saying "You should see how bad it is on XXX game." Lastly, those who state simply that, "It's the internet, deal with it!".

No my friends, the internet was NOT always like this. Not every community is vulgar. This one certainly is. There is a small group of you that encourage it and I strongly suspect you are all born into gaming through a console station. The worst of the worst are the networks on console games, followed by many first person shooters. You know, the games where twitchy kids deus ex machina their way through endless repetetive respawns? You see, the vulgarity itself doesn't annoy me. Its the craptastic players that seem to be the culprits, those that encourage them and egg it on and finally, those that tell everyone to deal with it, since its the internet. What this game really needs is multiple servers like many games have (based on region), making some of them exclusive so we dont have to look at your infantile comments. I would gladly trade having access to the entire MWO playerbase for a bit of intellectual segregation.

This isnt about freedom of speech, I suppourt your right to type like a two year old. I just don't wish to be near you in any way shape or form. I complained about this during closed beta and I was recieved by some of the harshest posts I have ever witnessed on this forum, claiming that I was a tool for advocating any form of censorship. Meh.. So it was proven that not only are these players vulgar they are also illiterate and can't read the actual message being delivered. This is a great game, the ONLY thing I have ever found that brings it down is our nauseatingly infantile community.

I will say that its not as bad as it used to be. I see a bit of it here and there but on average its just play the game. The sooner we get clans implemented the better. Leadership can and should dismiss any who are not here to play the game and seem to only take pleasure in ruining other peoples fun.

That being said, I like it when both teams have some "friendly smack talk". Like this one time I was the last one alive in conquest and two cicadas couldn't kill me as a cent, by the time we had 750 points I had some stripped armor and slightly damged internals and the last cicada ran away and was almost legged.

Fun Fight, GG, and some salty smack talk never hurt anybody.

Yeah sometimes people are just screwing around. I myself don't usually talk smack but I don't mind if people do it in a joking manner. I still remember a time a while back where someone said something like

"Hey what kind of eggs do you guys like?"
.....
"Because I'm gonna make breakfast in the morning after I **** you tonight"

Then after I randomly found him and got the kill on him I said

"Now wheres my eggs?!?!"
"I like them scrabbled"

And he responded with a "LOL".
I don't see any harm in that.

If you can take the game as a game and not all SRS BSNS then some smacktalk can be fun. Some people like to talk smack because they know it gets to the thinskins, it's as old as competition itself. None of it is worth getting riled over, for the big 15 minutes max you have to put up with it, when it happens at all. Most of it is in fun, and the truly nasty people (win or lose) are going to be pathetic waaaaay longer than the length of one match, so you still win over them, just at life instead of robots.

I've really only ran into a few instances of foul behavior in-game.

Maybe a match or three per week (out of 25~50 matches per week?) feature any offensive language, or major drama in team or all chat.

Now, the forums... are actually getting better? oO

MW:O seems to have a lot of PC police who love reporting even slightly questionable words. Rarely see people talking in open chat lately. Honestly, I find it funny that people are bothered by trash talk although I don't personally engage in it.

Please, report those who take it over the edge. Not everyone in the US is a trash talking bastage, but we certainly have our fair share...... :)

Well, "Haha you suck I pwned you" is annoying, but not offensive.

"Haha [homosexual slur] you [curse word implying the subject has participated in acts of fornication] suck, [desperate attempt to rile target by employing fictional tales regarding the sexual proclivity of one's mother]" --- Problematic. Knowudimean?

I could only hope to understand the catharsis achived by some 30-something virgin down in thier parents basement, who unleashes such tirades.

I too have lost the ability to comport myself in the heat of battle.

But mostly I'm guilty on TS3 of trying to make my fellow Canadian neighbors say the word " about " correctly.

Obvious youve never played online games before then..

Try playing League of Legends, or any MOBA for that matter and then get back to us.
