I answered no to both.

Only cause I don't want them wasting resources they need to get this game off the ground. And No I didn't read the post I just answered the polls questions.

So that means you do not want a single player game - ever?
Since that's what the poll asks.

PS: Come on read that post I know you can change your mind :D

I just watched the 3025 trailer for PGIs original single player MW project.
Now that I finally can read again (after drying the tears in my eyes) I ask you
fellow mech pilots:

Do you want a single player campaign?

Edit: This is obviously nothing that would happen in the near future. But I think such threads can encourage future work if the devs see how crazy we are about this.
So if you think "Yes, but only after MWO is finished" - vote yes.

Edit2: Increased font size since people seem unable to read this.

Edit3: Nice to see the attention this thread gets. Just hope to get enough likes to make it "popular"

Lets sideline the current project, which needs enormous work still, and ask for resources to go elsewhere...dumb.

I would but the last one was stopped because the return on investment wasn't there. Once they have the engine worked out from MWO it might make more sense.

I think this question was raised in a suggestion box thread. and as such this thread serves no real point.

1. This is a mmo game, if you fail to get that concept. Stop playing and distracting the developers time. A Single player game was pitched, and determined to be not a profitable venture 4 years ago.

2. There are plenty of single player mech games out there. If you can not adapt and play in MWO, and have the social skills to play a MMO tank game, get out. I suggest playing Mech Warrior 4, that should help you with your gundams fantasies.

@Mikhalio
just glad that 70% of the votes disagree with your opinion.
Also I would not call it a Massive MO game. Since all we currently do is PvP 8vs8.
IMHO your argument has the quality of:
"Why does PGI create yet another game with mechs there is already LL and HAWKEN."

@Truthstar
you quoted my post - did you also read it?
It cannot be that hard to understand what it says -
I mean I even increased the font type ;)

To get back on-topic:
We all know a single player game did not get the required funding.
But when MWO goes life (I mean real life no more open beta) there
will be a working engine and working game mechanics.
IMHO the next step could/should be to introduce some PvE
game modes, which would imply the development of a solid AI.
(If you read the forums you see that many players ask for co-op modes)
Once the AI is up and running there is everything necessary
to create a great single player game with much less resources than
needed if you do it from scratch.

8v8 in a non-persistent world... How is that an MMO??!?

And no 12v12 is also not enough to call it an MMO ;)

You can't petition them to have more development money.

I think that's what the second voting option is for.

I think it would be a good idea to release mission packs for mc that you can play with a lance of friends. Weve never really had a coop MW game and it would be awesome to do missions with actual lances controlled by players or even huge missions with a company of mechs.

I agree there is no reason to even think to limit any PvE content to single player mode exclusivley. If PvE campaign packs were released at a fairly regular pace and were purchased with MC I know most of my friends would buy them.

This may be a good direction to go with once we have an actual completed PvP experience.

Just imagine having a Battle of Luthien campaign pack where you actually take part in a historical event within the Battletech universe.

There are so many canon events that would be awesome to participate in.

That's exactly my point. Start with the development of an AI and then sell some PvE scenarios.
Once in the far future I would love a Battle of Tukayyid scenario.

And then all technical requirements for a single player campaign are achieved
Just choose a BT novel and lock a bunch of some map designers in the basement :)
If you want to gold plate it also record some conversations and render some 3D scenes for deeper immersion.

I would like someone to do it, and since PGI already has an engine and models, it would seem a neat step.

The voting options are incomplete..

You should have added "Would you like another developer to make a Single Player MW with multiplayer capabilities, in the vein of MW4 but updated to todays graphics"

I would have voted yes for that.

But my confidence in PGI to develop and bring anything to market thats decent has really, really waned.

I'm voting no. A single player is nice, but in reality, you're playing against a dumb AI that either always misses or always hits. Using movement and tactics means very little and it will give new players a wrong message as far as piloting is concerned.

In MW3, pulse lasers were great, they were horrible in multiplayer. In MW4, UAC5s were pretty decent, trash in multiplayer.

The only thing I would like to see is a very simply training mission detailing the HUD and basic maneuvers.

Okay I changed the question - This thread really is just about if people want a single player game.
Fact just is that since Microsoft decided to lock the Mechwarrior licence in the basement for 10+ years
we can be glad somebody is finally giving the series some love again.

So for now it is: "PGI or die." I guess. :)
