You need to get right in the face of an enemy Mech just to use it. Is it something for scouts to do on their hit and run attacks? I've not seen other players use NARC.

Narc currently gives the same advantage as TAG or Artemis, only yes, the spotter has to risk getting shot to land one and it only lasts for a few seconds. Also, the feature Narc had of allowing LRM fire to be launched indirectly at a target lit by a Narc pod isn't in this game, so its most useful ability isn't included. The fact that ECM completely defeats missile locks also sort of nullifies Narc a bit, though ECM is suppose to defeat it so that isn't as much of a item-breaking issue as the lack of indirect fire without LOS.

Therefore, no one who really would use it, could use it, due to the way ECM kills it.

Still thinking a whole new level of electronic warfare would be opened up if other pieces of equipment had their roles expanded to be useful, instead of concentrating on modules that cost 6,000,000 c-bills and days worth of GXP (and are still affected by ECM) to unlock to combat the effects of ECM.

It's like we have a bunch of pieces in place that make no sense yet. They're slowly dripping things in. But it probably will never work "right" until everything is complete.
I keep looking at the Dev Blogs for the original MWO pillars and I seriously hope they get there.

is there a chart or something telling us what mechs have the ecm ability (or not) and how to get to them in the lab?
