I love MWO but the lack of maps is becoming a bit of a drag, I know some are planned but I believe new maps should be PGI's absolute number 1 highest priority to stop new players interest from waning.

I am personally very happy with the rest of the game, but this is the main complaint I hear from my friends who also play.

Please PGI - Go map crazy! The more the better! The sooner the better!

Not enough and not soon enough, IMO.

We could/should have at least a dozen maps, plus possible variants already using current assets. There should be 3 maps with different sizes and layouts on "Forest Colony world" and another 3 on "River City world", etc etc. Instead we've got 4 maps, 1 of which has an alt. with some (very) minor layout tweaks and 2 of which have versions with the dimmer knob turned down.

New mechs are spiffy and all but largely pointless without maps. Maps are content for a game like this. But sadly, the glacier on Frozen City is probably melting faster than content is making it's way into this game.

Rather than new maps, I'd like the current ones enlarged and the Conquest mode improved.

In mye opinion the maps are way to small making the battle painfully short and messy, adding bigger maps will solve this.

And if this is the map size they are going with, this game gonna get boring fast. In mye opinion!

It is as it is.

2 more maps incoming til summer.
More Mechs.
ELO.
CW.
More balancing.
...

They really need some ingame training ground/sandbox mode for new players and mechlab experimentations.

I know I know everyone wants newer and larger maps but sometimes it's better to be patient and have only few maps but these maps are elaborated.

I remeber a time at the closed beta when there were holes at the map and also parts where your mech just did stuck in the surrounding... ^^

Your expectations for a game in Beta are a bit rediculous.

I totally agree, we need more maps!

I also think PGI should consider releasing some mapmaking tools for the community. This way we could help speed things up a bit. Not saying they need to add community maps directly, but it's a lot faster tweaking and polishing a map than creating a new one from scratch.

Come on PGI, give us moar maps nao!

Guy's let's be realisitc, their art team is working on Clan stuff at the moment.

It would NOT be that hard to pump out a map a month... There are single guys who pump out high quality maps for games in under 2.5 weeks, depending on the game. Seriously if they just gave us a map a month... or heck, 1 map a month + 1 recolored/relit map in that timeframe, I think the userbase would be much happier.

Devs have already reported that more and much bigger (like 2x and 3x the size of caustic) maps are in production and will be out soon.

As witnessed in many other games, there will NEVER be enough Maps. It just doesn't matter. The players would like to play on a different Map every game. Especially those who play ALOT...

Perhaps the intro of CW will come with a bunch of Maps (all new and shiny) to kick off the Planetary WAR!

Only time will fix that and wanting more is fine but griping about some apparent lack of, serves little purpose. :(

Although I have been enjoying this game for 7 solid months even when we only had the 1 map, I know some people who have gotten burned out on the limited pool. More maps before more mechs, and get dropship mode in! I know that may be an entirely unreasonable desire as perhaps the human resources that make mechs don't have the skills to make maps and so on, but one can dream.

For me more maps are not a high priority. I'd like to see large maps, but even that can wait.
Many successful online games are played on very few maps:
  • Counter-Strike: ~5 (de_ aztec, de_dust, de_dust2, de_inferno, de_train, ???)
  • League of Legends: just one, Summoner's Rift
  • WC3, Star Craft: I'm not too knowledgable there, but I remember only a handful of actively played maps each either.
The longevity of an online game is not determined by its map pool. Other factors are much more important:
  • tactical and strategic teamplay options
  • varied "build" options (weapon loadout, skills, items)
  • a big active player base
  • a competitive community (e-sports)
Many games I've played started out with few maps and/or game modes. Always people cried for more "content". When the devs finally delivered it was largely ignored:
  • newer non-tournament CS maps
  • LoL Twisted Treeline and Dominion
  • MW:O Conquest mode
  • The new game modes in WoT aren't really popular either, but you can't choose there.
Please stop crying for more maps. Cry for larger and/or better maps if you really have to.
