Trust me I am getting spam calls to my phone that I NEVER EVER got until AFTER that fiasco. I am also getting lots of spam to my email as well and received the same email. PGI has been less than honest in regards and I have been considering getting my lawyer involved since we really don't know how far the damage goes..

So, does that mean they lied or they're selling email addresses?

UPDATE: I checked my email address associated with this account and there is no email like the OP's, in the spam folder or otherwise.

Got no spam mails after the Dec 13th incident and I've got none today.

As for how people get your supposedly 'unlisted' email..you know enough to create a dead drop and do NOT know about mass spammers and how they operate?

Wow..

Patriot said hello to my MWO e-mail account.

Mail server marked it as SPAM.

I use unique addresses too but they're not always as simple as "site@domain.com" so mass spammers are not the answer. I received the original email spam and have continued to receive spam to the addresses registered here and that is long after PGI claimed no email addresses were lifted during the original incident.

You should go buy a lottery ticket Locust76..or..actually..the person running that spam mailer should go buy one. Or maybe they shouldn't, since they probably just picked trending words from various sites that post such things, IF such sites happened to exist....not like..oh..hey..they do..what do you know?

Spam mailers aren't the old basic random alpha/numberic combos anymore, get with the times.

I've opened up a support ticket, the person replying said he'd forward the case to their network admins to see if another breach had in fact occurred. I hope they can get this issue resolved.

Thank you.

Yeah I got the same email as well. If MWO is involved, I'm not happy about either possible cause.

checked my span folder, did not get that mail.

also if you do a Google search for that e-mail, i does belong to a real person, that does contain a lot of gun control "stuff". so if you are into that thing then so be it...but anyways that does seem strange that you got that kind of e-mail

I got mails on Dec 13th and Jan 5th, both sent to a unique email address used only for MWO. This is also the first time I've logged into these forums since around September, so my address wasn't gained via the redirect exploit. I've also heard a couple of others recieve the spam mails on the addresses they used to signup for MWO.

The some data has definitely been compromised from this site.

You literally have no idea what you're talking about. Consolidated and minimum % verified mailing lists are the only commodity bought by bulk mailers.

Got the 2nd msg as well, about the gunhippy, after being one of the guys from the first incident.
Well, my e mail is out there now, but google's spam filter is good , so no big deal.

He's implying that a spammer might have tried mwonline because it was detected as a search term / trending word, so they wouldn't have had to buy or steal the guy's email address.

I don't seem to have received the spam email at the moment.
