Especially if they nerf ECM to remove the invisibility cloak, it because far too powerful in the dark.
Supposedly you can tone down the NV brightness with the period key, but it doesn't do nearly enough.

I want a map where there is a constant rainstorm and so much ESD that sensors are basically perma-ECM'd, and even thermal is hit or miss. A map where you pretty much have to run into an enemy mech to find it.
I know, not for everyone, but give me more environmental challenges, not less please

Maybe if they just gave us some moonlight or something such as we get in the frozen night map (which actually looks good).

The point of River city night is that you need to use other view modes to be effective. That is the entire point of the map.

Could be useful. Thanks. I'll try it without the NV. If only we could use our own eyes. In my youth I had 20/10 vision, and corrected, I still have it. But then, considering what Advanced Zoom looks like with this engine, it wouldn't matter anyway.

Expect more maps "forcing" you to use other vision modes, not less. Environmental effects are likely to play a larger role in MWO than in previous MW games, and this is a good thing,
While River City Night is admittedly "annoying" it is also awesome that we have a game actually doing darkness right. Ever played Oblivion or Fallout 3 with the mods that make nighttime night time and dungeons pitch-black without a Torch? Pain in the ***? Yes. Realistic and immersive? Doubly yes.

agreed, plus i think this might happen... well, not MY favoured map, but come on OP.... where there is day, there is also night, you have to deal with MANY conditions as a warrior... what a warrior are you, if you can´t handle combat at night?
btw: heat vision works really good in river city night.... makes me wonder how caustic night would turn out

AND you alt-f4 if you dont get your way......
Why not just ask the DEVs to publish one of those 20pg cheat code/walkthrough books...... go dust off your XBOX.

Well... except that it should have some lights in the actual city. Allowing you to see in some parts and not where there are no lights. River City is apparently suffering from a blackout (aside from the burning).

I'm sure it will continue to come into play. As an example, I would like to see the cave on the forest map be nearly blacked out, but it isn't. As I said above, it seems like there should be some more light than there is, either from natural (moon) or artificial lights.

Reminds of a one commando in a conquest match. He was alone capping a resource point and I started to shoot at him. He was a bit faster than me so he disappeared all the sudden. By accident I looked under the bridge and saw his thermal image there, the sneaky sob had shut down under the bridge! Well, boom boom bye bye commando, better luck next time! But hats off for the creativity I was just lucky to notice him there.

the city is a warzone, good chance power is knocked out, further if a person is hiding in that place, light is the last thing you want to make at night in a warzone.
