I really dont want to meet a dual AC20 CAT with double tap.
It would core my flawless Hunchback in 2 seconds. (48 armor + 32 internals)
Even my Awesome shivers in fear with 75 armor + 50 internals (125).
(even worse for the stock Awesome with 60 armor + 50 internals)

I guess we hang around these forums because "They aint making games like this anymore...".
Even if PGIs ears a deaf - thanks for sharing your ideas.

I can see that but there is also the price for that as well.

provided he didn't shut himself down from firing those weapons back to back there is the consideration that he is still going to spend the next 20 secs unable to fire those AC20's...... 4 sec reload + 16 Jammed.

High risk, high reward. If he could kill you then it's worth it but if he misses or your survive he is basically useless for the next 20 secs.

20 secs is a LONG time in a pointblank battle.

Why does this thread smell like a DEV trying to float some ideas around the community.
O the graphics and lack of spelling errors.
The size and over all quality perhaps :)

Most of the Abilities and Modules are based off of Table Top abilities and or abilities that i've read about in some of the Lore / B-tech books.

The ultra's are consistently better with a different trade off in weight and ammo. But you should still be able to fire a AC or Gauss in a Double Tap fashion, except it has a huge downside in that you'll be locked out of your gun for 8-16 secs.

Your double tap suggestion would be absolutely horrific for the game. I seriously question your level of shame and humility in such a suggestion. Picture this, double ac/20 with double tap. 80pts in a single location, get good at aiming, it's the headshot without a headshot. Sure, the "If I miss" defense is a half-assed attempt at deflecting the "When I hit, the ttk is similar to a shotgun in most fps games" offense. I'm not sure why you haven't truly mentioned how this metric within a game typically causes any game to spiral downward in a circular fashion not dissimilar to a Sunday morning, beer infused defecation around our favorite porcelain goddess.

Pop tarting alpha strike mechs are something that should be avoided at all costs and this suggestion runs not only towards, but past that border of sanity like Sean Penn with a Kim Jong-un Hallmark card.

Yeah a lot of people don't like that suggestion.

I figured that the penalties were severe enough that people only attempt to use it in the most dire or desperate situations where it was an all or nothing. Maybe everytime you use it it jams the gun and damage's it's hitpoints, Where if you use it too many times you could end up destroying your own gun, in the case of the gauss you could kill yourself.

But maybe your right, it's just simply too good no matter what the severity of the penalty it is.

I'll consider it stricken from the list.

Unfortunately the game, and the world are full of people who'd rather exploit and take the easy way out rather than exercise any self-restraint by using items as intended. I truly wish it were different and I apologize for coming off as dickish and as harsh as I did.

Sorry for the necro-post, I just felt somebody should congratulate you on making more sense than an entire developer team. No offense to the devs, they've done so well on so many things.... but when you mess up on the one thing that creates such a power vacuum that it HAS to be fielded... I just think the cat-rubbing needs to stop.

+1 for active/passive sensors and sensor strength/M-Sig
+1 for melee, and using weapon arm may damage the weapon
+1 for unique manufacture weapons
-1 for unique weapons being balanced by Cbills rather than gameplay pros and cons
+0 but interested in idea of individual mech trees.
+1 for a black market that with prices based on scarcity, that actually goes up and down with player purchases and sales

Hey there is room for a poll in there somewhere, make it happen. Use summaries like these^ and lets see what people thing about your specific ideas.

I feel like most of these suggestions, are just bad?
EMP effect for PPC's? The devs should have already added that.
I just can't agree with you at most of thsi.

This thread is a necropost. Check the date he suggested that. EMP for PPC was implemented 3 months later.

Sort of a Necropost, all of these ideas are still very Valid.

As for EMP as a PPC effect it's more than just taking ECM offline but causing a person's HUD to go offline for a few seconds or to include making a person lose lock if they have it.

I have a few new balancing posts located here: http://mwomercs.com/...rior-balancing/ that expand on a lot of ideas found here and visa versa. The two threads are really built to work together.

Good post, i liked it back then, i like it still now.

However - I'm pretty sure some one of the Dev team did allready looked through it - take ideas that they could implement and throw the others into the bin.

Me for my part will stop making any suggestions any longer, i actually swaped my well rounded CTF-3D into a quad PPC boat.. i swaped the Grand Dragon for a cheese 4 Large Laser Flame and so on.
When playing with cheese is the only way to play that game - i will play from time to time - but i will not longer invest more time as necessary.

Good day!! I'm writing this because I am fed up with the seeming attempt to balance the mechs so as not to have a single dominate mech in game. I think this is ridiculous. This is war! In war you want overwhelming fire power. It doesn't make any sense at all, for an example; jagerrmech JM6-DD has 6 ballistic slots, is a 65 ton mech, and cannot hold 6 ac-2 without serious overheating issues. Why would an engineer make a ballistic boat out of a 65 tons mech that cant handle the weight or heat, but then only allow 2 ballistic slots on a atlas AS7-D? When you know ballistics are very heavy in game. I am not interested in staying exactly true to the battletech universe or whatever. I am interested in the potential capitalistic side of this (in game), where you get what you pay for (though in real life I abhor capitalism). I want more customizable options for mechs, why for another example can a hardpoint only allow for one energy weapon regardless if its a 3 slot erppc or a one slot medium laser? This makes no sense at all. Why couldn't I buy some kind of rail and stack three medium lasers to go on the one energy hardpoint that can handle a three slot weapon any way? And the armour, why can I not take armour from the left and put it on the right, as well as from front to back? And what is up with the Jenner? A 35 ton mech that can carry 6 medium lasers and jump jets, almost impossible to hit, walk up as close as it can to an atlas so the atlas cannot target it or shoot it and kill the atlas, now this alone is not a huge deal, but why is it the 100 ton atlas does little or no damage to the 35 ton jenner if it tries to ram it? Serious armour/structural damage should occur given the weight difference at a given speed. I demand these be addressed, I am not requesting this, Nerf the Jenner, find a way to put dual ac 20 on a Atlas, un-nerf the srm's back to 2.5. I have over 400.00 U.S. dollars in this game and I want to spend more. But if these issue are not some how implemented by September 2013, I'm out completely. I don't have time for a game that arbitrarily limits what I can do especially when it's potential is so great!

I understand the protocol concerning the forums for suggestions. I however, am not looking for a democratic process, but for satisfaction. The Devs seem to think this game should be like N.A.S.C.A.R, where only the paintjobs are different. I will give it three months, if they do not open the door to a whole new world, something like black markets for mech upgrades and weapons, the game will wither and die, for me. thank you for reading my inappropriate placed rant, And though I am just one voice keep in mind I could be speaking for easily 10% of the players who say nothing but just get bored and go away.

in other news it looks like something might happen along these lines. The Dev's have hinted at an R&R and Rare salvage parts for community warfare.

Sort of like using your Loyalty points earned fro playing for your faction to unlock gear.
