I've sunk well over 100 hours into the game without any issue. Today, following the patch, any attempt at launching the game results in the client crashing to the desktop. The game will launch and permit me to sign in, then display the splash page with updates before immediately darkening and displaying 'Loading...'. The game then closes.

Nothing has changed my end. Anyone else encountering this issue?

The only thing I look forward to on patch day is a new mech. Litterally at current speeds it will take until next January to release all planed mechs. Alas i am getting bored, ive already played the game for almost a year with the same mechs, I havent had any fps issues since november, no more crashes, and ive already played the stalker almost every possible way you can.

Well - you seem to be privileged as a MWO-player: You had no issues since November? This is most intersesting for me as a player from Closed Beta on. Just because my own problems started with the last patch before Open Beta was announced:
Yellow Screen; Black Screen; FPS-Bug - that are my special issues since Open Beta (NVIDIA-User).

So please take my post not as an offence on your´s - this is a honest question: Is your system performance in FPS and system stability better at Open Beta?

Otherwise: You seem to have the time to play all Mech-Models "almost every possible way you can". And then you are getting bored?
So - you get a lot of spare time? I do not! Please be aware of people working. At the moment, for me, I'm pleased to have one single evening of MWO per week. We play regular about 3 to 4 hours. That is not the time needed to "Elite" all models of mechs that yet are done.

My personal general issues: Factions? Mechs? Clan Invasion? Space War? Worlds? Clans, Inner Sphere, ComStar, Mercs? Tech&Weapons? Real Time? Individuality of choice? All that embedded in a functional Net-Code? Battletech-Wonderland?

I really don't want to offend PGI and Dev's - At the moment I see progresses in-game to be in hindsight of the announcements.

But I still believe in MWO!

See ya on tha battlefield - in honor and dakka we trust! (-and die...)

General feedback of the game (after one match) after new patch:

FPS dropped. Particularly in battle. Was bad enough, I couldn't even shoot my PPCs at Ravens. I pulled the trigger, the PPCs fired no where near my reticule. Didn't get a chance to check my Ping, but I'm sure it was the standard usual 33-40 I always get.

Loading into the match took way longer that normal. I didn't get the preload "tell me what map I was playing on", and by the time I had finally loaded in the count down timer was already well underway. Maybe this was a one time thing, but it seemed odd enough to point out. Was on the River City at Night (almost was afraid my first match with the patch was a black screen, but thankfully wasn't).

Loaded into the match facing the wrong way. I had to turn myself around (takes a while in a Stalker) before I could get moving. My whole team was like that.

Missiles seemed to do little to no damage. I shot. My reticule turned red saying I caused damage. Wasted most of my LRM rounds (I have 4 tons of ammo with 4 LRM 5s), making sure they where hitting before continuing with more fire (made sure the first volley hit). Only ended up doing something like 88 damage the whole match. (Use to averages of anywhere from 150-600 damage a match, sometimes worse I will admit. Sometimes, I just get swarmed or sneaked up on.)

PPCs seemed to do little to no damage as well. I fired. It went wide to a side. I hit (when it happened), it seemed to cause little to no damage (according to ending damage scores at least).

Interface seemed sluggish somehow... I can't explain it. My ping should have been good, but my frame rate was lower than normal. I'm gonna guess it was because of the lower frame rate (went from tops 40 to lowest of 9. My normal is typically steady at 25). Besides that, it was feeling clumsy this time. Moving seemed odd as well...

The lobby screen (home screen, whatever you want to call it), also was sluggish. I would click on something, it would change like normal, and then pause and show a loading screen (the home page would darken slightly and it would literally say "downloading"). It seems laggy and less responsive somehow. I also had a problem where I had selected my Stalker in the home page, then moved over to my mechlab page (to see if any changes happened there) and it unselected my Stalker and selected my middle mech in my mechbays, a Cicada.

I'll continue to play and see if this is just a one time thing or something, but I figured a first impression and immediate bugs upon first match after the patch didn't hurt to be mentioned. I'll make update posts over my next few matches. See if this continues to repeat.

Second match... MUCH better. Frame rate normal. No laggy/slow feeling.

Got the preloader "this is where you are fighting" screen this time.

Load in was faster and more normal.

Everyone loaded in facing the correct way this time.

Basically, everything resolved itself in the second match.

Home screen lobby was still slow and sluggish. Still doing it's "loading" screen thingy. Not liking that but it still works... So.

Greetings Sarah!

Have you trying uninstalling and reinstalling the game yet?

Twice, also made sure that there were no registry entries being orphaned after the uninstall. Seems to be a clean slate each time. The client downloads without a hitch and I can get past the first screens, but as soon as it tries to load me into the Mech Lab it flops.

One interesting issue I noted before the first uninstall, MWO had disappeared entirely from the Control Panel's uninstall list. I had to manually delete both the Piranha Games folder and the registry keys before I reinstalled the client.

The loading prompt every time you select a mech in the mechlab is really irritating. Overall keep up the good work, thank you.

Having a similar issue here. Have not had any major crashing error, but have crashed to desktop twice 5 minutes time. Once in the mechlab and again during the first 3 minutes in game. I did a clean install and attempted to play again and ctd after 3 minutes.

Why?

Seriously?

Why are you not 100% dedicated to fixing the
crash to desktop that are getting worst and worst?

You are showing us the shiny new paint on the car that explodes at any
moment when you drive it...

Why?

Why?

Seriously why?

I am totally for more being done on the game itself, fixing issues, making stuff better etc etc. Frankly new mechs and bobbleheads and whatnot are pointless if the game itself is still needing serious work on issues.
The Main issues i can see at the current time are:

- lagshields. maybe give us oceanic servers too? that might help 250 ping is not too fun for Australians mkay?

- Cheeseboats. No idea how you could fix that other than restricting weapons, which isnt in the games spirit at the moment (hey i like my sillybuilds too) i just see too much dominant strategy going on (you know, people will inherently use the best option to win). maybe limit the number of ECM per team? matchmaking could either do that or match you to an equal number of ecms

- no insentive to cap. look, it makes sense to me that if we get nothing for a cap, then there shouldnt be a cap. but there is one. and of course, 7/10 times you get some tard in a light mech going to cap. trying to save up for a larger mech on 25k a round if ******* awful. 13 mill? forget it. i know you want us to spend money on the game, but honestly this isnt the way. just takes the cap out of the assault modes and make it give you more of a bonus in conquest.

so yeah. what do you guys think of this? feel free to add more.

The space pope is wrong. Do nt like where pgi put the server? Get a co.pany in YOUR region to make a mw game. Until then quit whining about server lag due to distance.

bravo.. !!! brilliant. !!! very special.

Its ludicrous that there isnt a server yet in europe since close to half the playerbase is from... europe.
its a miracle they still play .

I love people like you stone, so entertaining and predictable.. and smart!

I have not had any crashes to desktop, and the memory leaks are hard to find. I've noticed with this patch the memory leak is less.

I've also noticed that the netcode seems to be working better. My 3L is getting hit more and that is what my Lance Mates were reporting to night as well.

Was experiencing small hickups on third match at the start of the match. Ended up smoothing out though.

Many of them are all related too. You know how much about application development and design?

Ya for god sake do something about the latency difference with oceanic players. It's a unfair experience for us and them. I remember a time during closed beta when the patches didn't hold content and was all performance/bug fixes. I knew those were too good to be true.

... is really stupid.

Definitely not an improvement from what it was before.

Fourth match ended up being odd only in the fact that 2 AC2s (the only thing I could tell was hitting me and I know from what mech) ended up out damaging 2 PPCs and 20 LRMs in long range fight... but besides that the game ran well. Good match anyway.

Fifth match ended up being odd. We all loaded in facing backwards again. (River City at Night seems to be the problem.) Also, towards the end of the match, I noticed my screen kept cutting to black for a quick flash. Don't know what was up with that...

This.

I'm getting sick of teams playing follow the light straight into a base rush. The only way to avoid it is to play Conquest, and that's simply because its ridiculously difficult to win by capping in Conquest so it degenerates into TDM with less reward (before 8th patch, haven't patched for myself yet)

You only get salvage if you win. Capping can be a last-ditch method of winning if you're down mechs/tonnage but have better positioning in midgame.

I just wish it was actually used that way.

So far I've only seen it used as a way to win in under three minutes while griefing both teams.
