I probably won't buy one, I have yet to buy a commando or a raven so the spider isn't looking attractive to me. It would be nice to see something light that isn't ECM shielded though.

No but really. Aside from Sarna, how many of you guys are going to rock a spider day one? I mean, the thing has wings, speed and not much else.

How on earth, looking at sarna, are these things going to viable without Lagshield?

I want to know your thoughts, hopes, dreams on the Spider invasion.

I too look forward to tuesday when there will be even more metal babbies to murder.
Remember, friends don't let friends buy terribad light mechs.

Hey a Spider without ECM just means that no one will want to stay under the bubble while piloting one. Let's see if an LRM launch can keep up with a Mexican jumping bean!

lol, funny the spider got plenty of support in its accouncement threads and has always been a popular mech. I'll likely get one.

For all those talking about what mechs have a better loadout and the CT mounts nerfing it. Yeah well the raven doesn't do anything if it loses its arms. Spider loses its arms and side torsos and it does everything as if you never touched it. Ok, doesn't jump as far, big deal.

The Spider soaks damage like you wouldn't beleive if run right. I always used one for a light in TT. Like the one poster said, slap Tag on the thing and the LRM boats will love you.

How many times do you see a raven live a significant amount of time after losing an arm? its profile means that the arm being damaged almost certainly means some splash hitting the side torso. Speaking of which, spider with no side torso will be just as dead as almost any other light since XLs are nearly standard for small mechs.

no, i won´t buy one...for the simple reason i don´t want one
i am a heavy mech pilot for the most part, and i am happy that i finally got the basics for my Ravens done...enough light meching for the next weeks

but i am looking forward to "spider farm" a bit tomorrow^^ most likely also means, that there will be much less ECM Ravens on the fields... ;)

The last thing I thought the game needed right now was another light mech so it will highly depend what other changes come in with the mech in terms of patching.

From a playing persepctive - they're not my style so I wouldn't have got one anyway.

meh i just think of it as a centurion that goes 129kph stock, becuase the most common sight when it comes to a centy is a good old "armless tom", so meh, spider still might work.

Depends. If it's cheap, and if jumpjets are even remotely improved, I'll use it to check out the new JJ changes / "test" them (haha lolbeta) but I can't see it being practical with its current hardpoint layout.

I don't think I'm even going to log in until the new mech frenzy dies down. For every pilot in a Spider, there'll be another in a raven 3L. Since I don't want to die in a Spider, exploit in a Raven, or die a little slower in anything heavier, I'll just sit this one out.

The Spider is the right Mech for the current battlefiled environment to feed the data of the Devs...

Why should we fear the Spider? I think this solves that answer.

NOTE: Don't watch if you have arachnophobia!

You mean...a Jenner? The fact that you didn't even know that shows how extinct (aside from me and a few other dedicated pilots) that mech has gotten.

30 ton mech with 2 medium lasers in the CT leaves a lot of extra tonnage for a big standard engine. It'll be a zombie mech on the most part.

The varient that might have a arm and ct mount may be the only one that goes XL if someone wants to run a PPC and large laser in it.
