Yeah something was broken in the patch in the regard of user.cfg... i who was on the verge of completing (i would've later posted it) such a beautiful user.conf, with picture comparisons of it, your settings and the unmodified pgi high settings.

I noticed you have some wrong values in the PGI/Default settings.

For example

r_EyeAdaptationFactor is default set to 0.5 (took me a while to figure this out to get that dark color back)
cl_fov is default set to 60 (super low!! might think this game was designed for 800x600 displays) not 75. but 75 is a great FoV, after testing 60-90, 75 was the sweet spot for me. It also just so conveniently happens to match exactly for some mechs (like jagermechs) because their arms block the view on the sides exactly where the edge of 75 FoV ends.

Then patch happened, and this <_<
Some settings work, but many don't. My shader and texture settings for example do seem to be working. Sunshafts too. I looked for an alternate method to get rid of DoF but without success. I don't have a list over what doesn't work, but even before the patch HDR and ColorGrading settings didn't seem to do a thing for me. My game looks gorgeous as it is however, if it only werent for the DoF.

those settings are intentional like fov = 85, this is a personal preference. same with eyeadaptation.

the only way to get rid of depth of field for now is to set post processing to low right now.

Yeah MWO seems to be ignoring all overrides. user.cfg, CVarGroups_MWO, and the grain removal. :(

So unhappy... I haven't seen the Film Grain "feature" since early Closed Beta. It was shocking to see tiny static swirling all over my screen. I had to turn the Sharpness down on my brand new monitor to make it less of an eyesore, which just ends up adding ever more to the games blurriness factor. I so very badly want to be able to toggle it off in the launcher. I still don't understand why they feel the need to force it on.

for now use the sliders.

to lower depth of field to 1 you'll have to set post processing to low.

The only silver lining I've found in this mess of blur. I really miss that fantastic looking game I was playing before September 3rd.

I will hopefully have some answers soon. Need to dig through the code a little. Just be patient for now guys.

Just... why is it that most game developers always seem to avoid putting all the options into the game menus, or if they do put them all (or the important ones) why do they make it so players can't set it to the highest possible or lowest possible value?

Why did i have to do this in skyrim, oblivion, mwo, metro (i think), Dark Souls (DSfix mod), Supreme Commander 2 and probably a whole bunch of other games, why can't the devs just make it easy for us =(

Probably to force you to buy new hardware or to avoid bugs by unstable configs

Welcome to the forums!

It's no gain for them to force us to buy new hardware. The latter sounds a lot more likely, but it's still unnecessary.

just add

Preset Options
with presets
Advanced Options
Post Processing, Physics, AA,Etc
Expert Options
All the stuff not in advanced options, including experimental settings (with warnings) like i would assume sunshafts to be (otherwise why wouldn't it be included).

All harm avoided, if people know an option is experimental/unstable beforehand, they should also know to disable it before they call it a bug.

Was anyone able to enable "perma TAG Laser" again without 3rd party macro tools?

Oh god this game got so ugly again ! what is wrong with these guys ! , the film grain and other post processing effects should be off by default they are just so ugly and have such a poor effect on FPS. Please Pada let us know how you get on, it is intolerable playing like this.

disable film grain by setting post processing to low.

not sure on fov. need to test more, it's been a busy week, but given cfg isnt working fov probably isnt either, though the 2 matches i did dropped seemed to be fov 85 which is my cfg setting.

I have it at low, Film Grain is definitely not disabled. If I raise the Sharpness on my monitor, which I so desperately want to do, tiny swirling static is visible covering the screen. That definitely wasn't there before September 3rd patch using the Film Grain override.

FoV still seems to work from the user.cfg, but I'm not sure what else does or not.

I have ATI 7770 card and Post processing is set to low.

Post processing setting seems to be partially working in that I don't have the god awful distance blur effect.

However I DO definitely see the film grain effect. I also see the "depth of field" option in my user.cfg file is having no effect as well.

I lost about 5 fps due to this option being forced on. Caustic valley seems to be the best map to test it on, it's particularly obvious there.

Pada, are you using the modified grain_bayer_mul.dds file still from the original film grain removal fix back in beta, before they added the user.cfg file to turn this off ?

yes. it is in the package download. it still seems to be working for me with post processing for low and the dds installed.
