Man, that's my pet peeve: people not able to grasp the concept that some players don't give a flying carp about how many CBills or how many XP they derive from a match. IT ISN'T WHETHER YOU WIN OR LOSE, ITS HOW YOU PLAY THE GAME.

In other words, some people like the journey just as much as the destination, but its the journey that counts.

Sheesh <rolls eyes> This "I have to MIN/MAX to have fun" attitude seems to be rampant amongst The Youth these days. I guess its just a sign of old age when I can have fun just kicking the can around. <sigh>

And if you get that Twilight Zone reference, then you can stay on my lawn. :)

It just seems to me that people who tell others not to cap are the ones who also say:

"Real Solaris Mechwarriors disable their ejection systems."

Double experience. A win is 600 *minimum* with Premium time. So yeah, it's time to cap.

I'm going to try and win, end of story.

If the teams go on opposite sides of the map so be it; the base race is on. I'm not going to go looking for a fight.
And if we run into one another then it's on.

If you don't want to be capped then just play defense!

Even if the intent is to completely, ruthlessly, savagely, shamelessly, utterly murderate everyone on the other team, there's a good reason to send a Commando to start capping: teams are forced to make a decision; do we send some people back to base to prevent the cap, or do we take advantage of the enemy team being temporarily one man down?

It's a valid strategy: fragment the enemy, then slaughter them like the fodder they are. It's not our fault if the opposing team would rather stand and slug it out at the expense of their base. If the opposing team is smart enough to simply send a Commando back to base to defend it, then we're back to the drawing board tactics-wise.

When you play to win, you pull every dirty trick you can to win. If "bring four Atlas DDC" is the best method you can think of, so be it.

Your loss, not mine.

If you dont like the capture part of it than play conquest. The possability of a capture win in conquest is very low and takes a long time.

To capture it takes very little time and you still get c bills for a much shorter game so it is not like you are loosing much if anything. Gets you to the next match faster, but if you like killing everyone go conquest.

Since two patches back it is easier to win by cap in conquest and also pays at least as well as winning by eradication. There was no change to assault though, there win by cap offers the inferior reward. It is still more profitable to win by cap than to lose. Much more profitable.

These game modes are there to add tactical depth to an otherwise very limited game.

I certainly love to turn a lost game into a win by capping. Ohh the tears!

It's not done for cbills, it's done to confuse the easily confused. Sending out a faster mover or two to quickly cap their base forces them to deal with it or lose the match fast. Often in their panic they spread out in a trail due to different speeds on their mechs which makes it easier to mop up the main force. That or all their fast movers break off leaving their heavier units out numbered and out gunned for easier kills.

Think of the cap point as a way to break up a mob and cause pain to a team with poor communication. It's really effective.

Yes we do that all the time but.....I dont tell scouts to cap the base to finish the match but touch base and move on. If nobody comes back. Then tap again. But dont cap it. He is talking about people running over and capping straight up.

He mad. His 1337 pewing skills were end-run by a guy who figured it was safer to NOT engage the guy surrounded by the wrecks of his enemies, and stole his candy while he was pewing. Win smarter, not harder.

In assault I believe there are 2 win conditions.

1.) Kill all the enemies.

2.) Cap the enemy base.

You can't fault people for choosing to take advantage of your teams inability to defend their base and claim an easy win and easy XP.

Exactly, though they are listed the other way around:

1.) Cap the enemy base.

2.) Kill all the enemies.

So long as Capping is a Winning condition, it shall always be an option. Especially if it p*sses you off, then it's just gravy.
