Yes, I drive a light. I rationalize it by knowing that all the other players are welcome to drop in lights just like me. If they don't, then that's on them.
Cheers.

I rationalize using netcode to my advantage, because I do it in a 60ton mech going 104kph and I hunt light mechs going 150.

And I'm given to understand tackling is gonna hurt the tackler along with the tacklee so hopefully that 'dragon Bowling' will be a thing of the past or at least come with a cost worth thinking about.

Dragon bowling was the result of a goof on the dev's part. Dragons were initially given the physics mass of an Atlas, so you can see why there was an irresistible force bopping around the battlefield. It was patched out when they set the mass to [60].

I like going fast!

Also, people need to use broken things so that PGI can get the data to fix them. As beta testers, we are data providers.

Yep, and speed helps mechs flee to oob tactically retreat from other mechs. Wouldn't you agree?

Aww, is someone sore that their goonsquad was unfairly cheated out of killing me with all their cookie-cutter builds last night?
It's almost like you don't like it when other people abuse game mechanics to cause rage in their enemies :P

Btw that was one of my slow centurions, no lagshield, entirely your fault that your 4+ people couldn't focus fire me down before I was killed for oob, next time get better at aiming.

I understood the goof on that part of it, and good riddance, but my larger point was that even with that particular 'mass bug' if ramming actually hurt you it would have happened less or at least cost the people doing it some serious damage. I guess it would be better to say 'If implemented correctly we will hopefully not see people mech bowling with impunity.' Of course damage for collisions will definitely weed out the good light pilots from the Atlas footprints in waiting.

if you're playing 8man teams and you want any sort of competitive type play then you better be bringing some lights... probably with ECM... most notably the Raven 3L otherwise you will get shredded... I'm not saying the win goes to those that have ECM automatically but if you want to be on semi equal footing you will need it.

I agree that it can be easy mode, but you do have to think a little to stay alive... I was so close to getting all 8 kills in a Raven in a match against some fairly notable chaps, but got hung on a building and was killed... so it was 7 and out... things willl be different when the netcode gets addressed properly and the knockdowns return... there will at least be a lot less noob lights running around spamming streaks all over... i can handle getting beat by an adept light pilot that knows tactics and can pilot... but i cannot abide lightmechs just all willy nilly bouncing off everything like a pinball ******* streaks everywhere

Trap sprung. You are also very mad at videogames. You are also bad at video games, due to the aforementioned being mad.

Cry more about not getting the kill, I'm laughing over here about how you care so much as to bring it up on the forums.

You drive a light mech, you know you have an unfair advantage over everyone else.
Let's stop there.
I drive a light mech. Whether I know I have an unfair advantage or not, I find the responsiveness, speed, and hit-and-run techniques fun. I enjoy scouting and being the first person to see enemy targets. That's why I drive a light. You've made the assumtion too quick that the only reason people drive lights is because they have an unfair advantange. It's not the case. It is with some, but it's not here.

It is not my responsibiility to adjust my playstyle because PGI has dropped the ball on their coding.
It's their number 1 priority at the moment to fix netcode, I believe them when they say that, and I'm not holding a grudge against them because of a mistake. It seems like you want to hold a grudge, or at the very least put the responsibility on the players instead of the company. To that, I feel sorry for you, and hope that you see things differently.

With 20-30 Ping and low latency connection... my light dies plenty easy. I do not feel bad at all if your big bad atlas can't hit a non-lagging light. People running lights should feel free despite net code issues, it makes the issue that much more pressing to the DEVs to fix.

I drive my Raven 3L when I want to have fun in my Spider but I don't want to die. I wish I was 13, then I could experience the delight of Doom DM again!

After plodding along at 50 in an Atlas for so long you feel the need for speed and maneuverability.

You drive a light mech, you know you have an unfair advantage over everyone else. How do you square this in your head? Put aside the fact that PGI has not called what you do cheating. How do you go out every match, in a mech that you and everyone knows has an unfair advantage. If you were a 13 year old i would understand why you enjoy having an I win button. I loved cheat codes when i was 13.

I actually don't have an unfair advantage over everyone else. Who I do have an advantage over are people who do not build their mechs based on the reality of the game right here and now. My Raven 3L is not better or worse than a Raven owned by another pilot. This is how I rationalize it. We don't currently fault people for using guns in a shooter game against people who insist they will only bring a knife to the match why call people who use the best thing currently available to them in this game under its current mechanics.

With that said I do look forward to the net code change and re-introduction of collisions that will most likely result in a mass exodus from light mechs and and change in their current play style. As a terrible pilot I too will likely have to move to a heavier chassis of mech on a more regular basis. Until then I will play what works for me until there is something new that I find performs better.

After plodding along at 62 in my Atlas for so long, I find I can't drive the damned things. So I don't. ~100 or so is the best I can manage.

Because I fell in love with the COM-1B the moment I took the trial variant onto the field for the first time.
