Wont they need a reset prior to elo as to get a good baseline and fresh starting point?

Perhaps ELO and Achievements are being introduced concurrently. One wipe, both reasons.

Well although I have battled for my 2.4 K/D score (833 Kills and 344 Deaths), I realize how useless this actually is. I would like it if they introduced an assist score as well because some find this to be the important stat (myself included).

It would make more sense to keep track of stats on a daily, weekly, monthly, yearly basis, and then having 'lifetime' stats as well.

I'm not sure why it makes sense to erase stats when it should be more than feasible to simply start tracking stats for achievements when said achievements are introduced, or again the same thing when phase 3 is introduced.

I'm with you on this one. Why bother with a reset of peoples stats? Can't they just have the achievement tracking start from zero?

So they don't have to go through and try to cherry pick anyone they think was exploiting to inflate them, probably.

stats don't really mean much when I'm standing over your charred shell of a mech... but I have been using the KDR ratio to notice an upward trend of kills in relation to less or smarter pug drops, and also since updating my computer to allow for more than 15fps on a good day.

but otherwise i don't care about stats, they aren't public unless you make them so don't care if they get reset. Really the only stat I care about is how many of your planets I've capped, but that is a bit further away

Elo makes no use of your stats.

Personally I'm not for a stat wipe. I enjoy hearing farmers/ex-farmers whine about there stats because of there poor life choices. I've played well over 5k matches and worked really hard for a 3 KD ratio. Wiping my stats will be a little disapointing, but im sure ill get over it at some point.

Once the DC exploit is dealt with
Once hit boxes on lights are dealt with
Once net code is fixed
Once the modules they say will put ECM into check are introduced
Once match making is reworked to prevent sync dropping

Then by all means do the reset.

I don't do any of the above and I have only gotten better at the game since I first started playing. This will only hurt those who took advantage of every imbalance and bug and help those who haven't. I welcome it.

Meh that sucks. I'd prefer an optional stats wipe.

Considering the first week of Open Beta I did only PUGS (and therefore suffered stat damage! #nerd) I wouldn't mind a stats reset.

I think they should leave stats alone and consider current K/D ratio in the future Elo rating to give the Alt-F4 cheats a rating so high that they only get placed against other cheaters when the Elo system is added.

Then the cheaters can disconnect on each other all they want to deny kill credit gains to the other cheaters (yes I know they now take the death credit if they are killed).

Admittedly I do care about my stats, but not necessarily my KDR. I've played over 3k matches and have just about 4,500 kills. I know they're not great stats and that there's people with more/better I'm sure, but they are my stats, and I like being able to look back on what I've done with the time I've spent playing.

@Deamhan: It really only hurts the people who have spent a lot of time already playing/testing the game. Responses like yours are seething with resentment for some having better stats than others with means deemed 'lame' by whomever. That's not to say the game is perfectly balanced or that people didn't/won't artificially inflate their stats if they felt/feel so inclined to (spoiler: the game isn't balanced and there will always be people that do that), but as I posted before I feel there are better ways.

I mean it's not the end of the world by any means if they reset stats, but I hope that they do not.

While this kind of makes sense, I am confused as to why you're so concerned about other people's achievements in a video game. That strikes me as absurd.

That's sort of the point of achievements, to compare yourself to others.

Why would we get annoyed? I am fairly certain that most of us know how to use photoshop and can post whatever "stats" we want.

Nope. We invest our energies onto more productive aspects of the game, such as enjoying it instead of worrying about some garbage eater boasting about his leet skeels vs.puggers that have 0 clue what they're doing 80% of the time.

Ahahahahahaha! Totally agree!!!

WEll, they could either face:
1) other Dc'ers
2) Get wiped out since they will be facing people who actually earned those stats

I'd really want to see fraps of both!

Nope, because it's a stat in a videogame. If that's all they have to hold onto in life, I feel really bad for them.

Pretty much.

When I see a 2.0 or 3.0 K/D ratio, I think "now there is a really good player."

When I see a 5.0+? Cheater, hacker, no life, disconnecter, runs nothing but FOTM, etc.

But, that's just, like, my opinion. Man.

(FYI my K/D is like 1.6 or so right now.)

As long as they don't wipe C-Bills, and Mechs in my bays, or the master status of perks, then i'm just fine with a stat wipe.
.
4.0 K/D can be achieved much easier without "pugging" again... Anyone that's worried has issues...

Achievements are only going to legitimise stat padding and e-peen nonsense.

It's only a matter of time before they're all over the sigs, and people will do their damnest to protect them.

When it was non-public stats - who the hell cared. Now there are achievements, which will doubtless be viewable by other pilots, it's going to turn into a peen fest.
