Stat Wipe According To Devs.

Why does it bother you that some want to keep their stats for having already played a lot, investing free time, in which they cannot get back or may not be able to put that kind of time into the game again?
There's absolutely no reason that achievements or phase 3 (which may or may not even use player stats outside of winning or losing the 'ranked' game they are in) can't start being tallied from the day they are implemented, disregarding, but keeping, all previous stats.
I don't really care about KDR (as that will always go up regardless, if you're not awful anyway), but I do care about my 3000+ games, 2000+ wins, and 4500 kills amassed to this point; pretty much as Wispy said.
So again, if you think stats are so meaningless and worthless, why does it bother you at all if some people wished to, and did, keep them?

I think they are pretty much meaningless, however, under the new achievement system you wil gain in game benefits. I do not want to see lame pugstompers or suicide farmers gain any benefit for their malfeasance. As much as I regret losing the thousand+ times I have killed people I see it as reasonable.
No one loses ANYTHING. You still have everything and to date your stats have had zero impact on the game. Now that they will PGI is going to level it out. I assume this also means they will feel as if they have achieved a majority of balance corrections at the point so it makes it a double dividend. As for all the whining about it, I see nothing from PGI saying they would not wipe stats, just that you could keep your shizzle.

Everyone else is better off because you don't have to re-level crappy mechs and go through the associated bad games and assuming you pug a fair bit, your stats right now are worse than they should be due to all the pugstomping.

As I've said multiple times, it's not the end of the world or anything, but I do think there are better ways they could do it and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little disappointed.

Likewise, I don't get it. If they are that unimportant to you, why do you (or people like you) care if people have stats or not?

They are able, but it's much easier (from a technical point of view) to wipe the stats. This way you only have to deal with "number of matches played" (for example), instead of "number of matches played" and "number of matches played since day X".

It's not up for agreement or disagreement really, because statistics are never the things they represent. It's not like anyone's opinion to the contrary would count for anything, it's simply how maths works. Hence you can never call a thing like CBills a statistic.
I see you've had your faith shaken by ECM and JJs, so perhaps that faith is irrational in the first place. I think you should question the kinds of reassurance you try to get, and whether you actually need it. Because I seem to be able to 'wait and see' quite comfortably without imagining horror stories of what might go wrong.
We're probably very similar in what we want from the game. And I probably get just as excited as you do when it looks like we might get something we really want. I just think you could do better for yourself when it comes to seeming to need some reassurance. In the end the game probably won't be as good as it could have been in our opinions, because that is how life goes, and because we never got to see how bad our opinions really were. So relax, let it happen, and complain when you think it will help (not before!).

If we are gonna have stats, the teams that sync drop pug stomp shouldn't be allowed to benefit when it comes to achievements for being tools.
Sync-dropping PUG stompers are among the lowest, scumbag players in the game.
I've intentionally forbidden /any/ pilots in my clan, CSA, from sync-dropping. It is beyond dishonorable. Only dezgra and stravags partake in it.

do you mean people who actually team up with others to win battles? If so that really smacks of sour grapes
No.
What he's talking about is people who sync drop simultaneously on comms--say 8 people in a channel that form two groups of four so they can drop at the same time and end up on the same team, thus making it an 8-man team in a game mode designed for only PUG players or at most, 4-man teams.
It is an amazing advantage and abuse of the system.
If people want to play 8-man teams, they should man up and actually choose an 8-man team so they can play only against other 8-mans, not outnumbered PUG players.

Not everyone who has a 5.0+ KDR is one of the above. I know a select handful of pilots that aren't any and all extremely honorable people.

Asked and answered. Go back and read it.
I have read it. So you're saying that 'Stats aren't important to me, so no one should have them'? That makes more sense than 'Stats aren't important to me so I simply won't look at them, rather than punishing everyone even if people do care about them'?
@the rest of the thread: After a stats wipe I'm sure I'll have much better than a 4.5 KD (which, as I've been saying, isn't what I really care about anyway), and I'm sure it'll be fun to see public stats and leaderboards when they're finally released. Cheers.

Maybe the lowest are the 4-mans who deliberately get their pugs killed before they fight.
But I'd agree it's close!

The truly skilled won't care. They know their results speak more than silly numbers do.

Hmm yes. Those guys who kill their pugs first are downright despicable. I had a clanmate pugging once and had that happen to him. Sick.

Once matchmaker phase 3 hits I expect some people to actually wish that the stats wipe did happen tomorrow, no matter if ELO ranking is implemented right or wrong.

My personal preference would be to just drop them since they reflect almost nothing. At the same time, since they reflect almost nothing, I don't care if people keep them either. Going forward, if/when we get to a point in the game where stats actually count toward something in-game, I'd suggest keep a separate track for current stats (which count) and historical stats (beta stuff for those who want to look back at their thousands of games played, which don't count).
