whats the n#1 cause of ingame freezes of any kind ? yea, HEAT !

whats the n#1 cause of CTD out of the game ? bad game code !

do any of you guys with problems watch/post your CPU/GPU temps ? NO !

does disabling VSYNC increase the load on your GPU/CPU ? YES !

did PGI disable VSYNC by default on the first february patch ? YES !

does increasing load on your GPU/CPU increase temps ? YES !

so now tell me what the most likely cause for your freezes is, please. Now if you´d CTD this would be another story. But u guys FREEZE :D

Now if you get a cryengine error this is mostlikely a problem with the game and NOT your rig. But a freeze tells stories about a stuck fan or smokers heatsink.

I have this issue since the previous patch. Random freezes every 3-5 matches. I am playing on Radeon HD 6970.

Forget it. My GPU core is at 54 C, my VRMS are at 57 and 59 C, my CPU is well below 50 C. Temps have nothing to do with it.

HKLM\SAM holds local and domain account information, such as user passwords, group definitions, and domain associations. By default, this key is unreadable by even the system administrator account. Looking inside HKLM\SAM is not very revealing because the data is undocumented and the passwords are encrypted with a one-way mapping (e.g., you cannot determine a password from its encrypted form).

Sounds fishy. I´d ban you right away

Ontopic: had about 20 of the dreaded freezes yesterday evening, it drove me mad. pls fix soon, and sorry for all matches where my mech only zombied about...

Three of us have the same problem: I get the "mechwarrior is not responding" freeze on intel/nvidia rig, my friend is getting them on intel/ati (also had ati/amd), and 3rd can fix it with alt-tabbing.

Also, broken textures on that old snow map every now and then.

You don't know what you talking about.

First time since closed beta I have the same problem described in this thread, on 3 various computers (with various setups). Therefore it's safe to asume that computers work fine and issue is in the game.

Few mins into the game and puff - freeze. Sometimes alt-tab helps but usually it doesn't.

Since last patch, I've started having this problem on "Drop Preperation" screen. The alt-tab workaround is not always effective (actually I've had 50% success across 4 occurances).

I'm running an NVidea GeForce GTS 250 which has been able to support the game thus-far. This issue does not happen consistently (thankfully) so I'm generally still able to keep playing. I also have the Intel Core 2 Quad for my CPU (not sure if that is important).

Workaround I found that works with my game is to immediately "alt-tab" out of game to the desktop and select the MWO window again.

I get this too occasionally, it's fairly rare for me, but alt-tabing (or windows-D) then alt-tabbing (or picking mwo frm the taskbar) back into the game unfreezes it. no idea what causes it, I'll look in the log file next time.

nvidia 670 gtx, but it also happened on a 560ti, various different drivers

Confirmed: Random freezing issue resolved by deleting the "D3D9" folder located in:
"C:\Games\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\USER\Shaders\Cache" prior to launching game.

Did not work for me. I get the freeze every single match ...

Any other known work arounds anyone?

For those saying heat I disagree. My rig is a custom water cooled sandy bridge 2500k overclocked to 4.8ghz. CPU-Z reports the 4 cores averaging around 30C no load and around 41C under full load. Hottest I have seen was using a Prime Stress Test and the cores reached an average of 50C

My current video card however is a POS EVGA 550t (long story) However I use EVGA Precision to manualy crank the fan to 80 percent and I have seen the card reach 50C underload.

I am wondering if the 1gig video memory might be a culprit? Anyone NOT seeing crashes using a 2gb card? Or those of seeing crashes are 1gb cards in the majority?

Just tossing ideas.

Just had this happen to me. The game is overall very stable for me, I've had crashes in the past but haven't experienced one in a long time. This one was weird in that the screen locked up but I could still hear all sound from the game going on in the background, the past few crashes I've had have always been straight to desktop.

I alt-tabbed out and back in and everything seemingly went back to normal, albeit for a very brief moment as I was killed immediately when I tabbed back in.

i7 930, GTX 680, 314.07 drivers. Happened on Forest Colony Snow. Around sector D7ish? I think.

I'm running W7 64Bit, ATI 7970 (13.1 whql), Intel 2600K and have also the Freeze-Problem. It first appears with one of the last patches and on all maps and with all mechs. Before this no freezes at all. Also plain textures appear, but they disappear with a new full install of the game.... I've tried it with Aero off, only 4 CPU-Cores and other things, but nothing helps.
please fix those damned, annoying freezes

I had motion blur on full and now turned it to low and I haven't crashed, also lowered the graphics to high. I don't have time to mess around with it but with those settings I went from never making it through a match to five in a row without a crash, small sample but hope....

Freeze happening more frequently it seems with each passing day, but had NONE before Feb 5 patches. I used ot get occasional Yellow screen, but that's gone... now replaced with the random freezing.

However given that last night it froze 3x in a 5-drop span and again so far today 2x in about 6 drops, I am noticing that freeze tends to occur when I'm in the procces of inputting multiple commands. IE - freezing exactly in time with me clicking FIRE on my mouse while I'm also steering etc. Granted 90% of match involves multiple inputs.... but I have noticed that when sending LRMS it seems more frequent. (I'm running a brawler Pretty Boy with some LRM's just for range, so not like I lob LRMs all match.) Of these last 5 freezes, 4 have been in conjunction with LRM launches, as I sit looking at a frozen screen of bracketed target mech far in the distance, trying to ALT+TAB to no avail before resorting to CTRL+ALT+DEL and task manager closing the MWO client.
  • Windows 7 SP1 - 64bit
  • 16gb RAM
  • intel core i7-3570 3.4ghz
  • nVidia GTX 670 w/ 16mb - was running an older driver, then updated today to 314.07 and first match after install & reboot = FREEZE concurrent with LRM launch (again)
Almost becoming untenable to have to CTRL+ALT+DEL out of 1:6 or 1:7 drops.

I have also noticed it happen exactly when I hit fire on the mouse. But that's after its frozen once, and come back, and the mouse is now on my second monitor and it loses focus on the full screen game.

Something funky is going on..

Any of you guys have this in your ./Piranha Games/Mechwarrior Online/Omicron.txt file?

[Error] locomotion-group not found: animations/mechs/stalker/lmg_files/land_to_fwd_fp.lmg

Wonder if this is an issue for the pausing?

I must have crashed due to this like 30 times now... I'm fuming... It's not fair to my teammates either... I'm in the middle of a fight, client just freezes, I get a death, opposing team get's a undeserved kill and the win-possiblity for my team drops WAY below 50%...

Can we hotfix this bollocks already? It's been weeks now...

Yes, this freezing issue has been occuring for me ever since the February 5th patch, and has continued to do so. The game will completely freeze, resulting in a neccessary Ctrl Alt Delete and end task. This is a completely game breaking glitch/technical hiccup, as it means that at any moment my game will crash entirely, causing me to have to totally restart.

It seems to happen most when multiple LRMs are colliding with things, be it myself, a friendly mech or just the terrain.

I am running a GTX 670 with latest drivers, and I have noticed that many other, high spec PCs, are also facing this same issue.

Priority fix needed!

I have the same issue. Brand new computer, plays other games just fine.

OS: Win 8
mobo: asus p8z77-v lk
RAM: 8 gigs
Processor: 3570k
GPU: 660 TI
SSD: Yes

I had been monitoring temps btw. Processor never goes above 45c. GPU peaks around 65c Both within spec, both attaining higher temps during bench-marking without any loss of stability. Seems like it's definately an issue with how MWO is playing the latest Nvidia cards.
