Scissors are OP. Don't buff rock, just nerf scissors.

But Paper is OP and undetectable!

The only people who would be upset with this news are the idiots who can't bother to aim, let alone shoot straight. For the one's complaining because it only disables ECM for 5 seconds, get a clue. It's a soft counter, it's not meant to permanently disable the other guy's ECM, it's meant to open a window in which you can fire missiles. If your spotters are doing thier jobs, indirect fire should be possible again with LRMs. If you are carrying streaks, you now have a window where you can lock on and fire.

seriously, you ingrates can't be pleased with anything.

But you can't be certain. Already, people are starting to think that maybe this isn't a case of "buff everything else just to compete with one thing." Does that not cast uncertainty on your notion?

Bandwagon Fallacy doesn't hold much water with me personally.

We've already had TAG buffs, now we're getting PPC buffs and modules. That is a pattern, and you can ignore it if you want to. At this point they're already stretching by adding self-admitted end game content (modules) to assist with countering ECM (in their own words no less). If they stretch any more on this it'll snap right in two.

If that's how you want to interpret it, that's your prerogative. I see it as just more "LALALALA!" to viewpoints outside your own.

That's a pretty tiny pattern. Regardless, they really should nerf scissors...

Still, I find it pretty laughable that you find small features which you find trivial yourself as capable of snapping the game.

That's going to fix everything. Newbies will instanty pick up ppc's on their trial mechs and proceed to kill all premade ecm teams. /sarcasm.

ECM needs to be fixed, not have a 7 ton soft counter that depends on a talented sniper and then only offers 5 second downtime on the most overpowered 2 ton piece of equipment in the game.

With the current ECM implementation, a single on target ppc shot to the mech should destroy the ECM unit. Now that would make things more tactical.

ITT: More ECM QQ

PPC's finally get a large scale use (DDC ECM countermeasure) and everyone talks about how useless it is. Little steps in the right direction, not to mention that a module, easily switched between mechs, will enable Streaks to be viable past 180m.

lol, dont worry guys, he just started playing in Novemeber and has never known anything but ECM. lol. He thinks were all QQ'ing, but he just doesn't get it, canon, or balance, hes just never known to begin with. hahahahaha. Guys like him should never post.

You missread that.
Bellow 90m's, the damage degrades. PPC's still do damage below 90. AFAIK the lower you go, the less damage you do.

As far as the effect, I'm willing to bet it will work at any range. You might not do much damage, but I don't see why the effect wouldn't proc.

lol, at 45m the PPC does 0 dmg... and when a light is SSRM'ing you with his ECM, he will most deffinately be close... so the 50m window we get with modules, not effective. The PPC soft counter to ECM, useless to lights. I think PGI has been abusing far to much BC bud.... it MUST be killing their critical thinking if THIS was their ECM change.

Are you kidding me? What is this going to do vs lights with ecm. Please, show me the PPC Wizard that can hit a small *** mech at 500m - off running serpentine at break neck speed.

The light mech will simply stay behind a cover while still providing ECM cover for its team

yay.. a 1 pt reduction (already mentioned by the Devs in an earlier post) and a sometime semi useful anti ecm effect. Yup. That is SOOOO worth it. Or.. leave the heat where it's at, drop the anti ecm fluff, and just have it assign damage as any other "burst" weapon by focusing it in one location, ala the Gauss Rifle.... just a whole hell of a lot hotter (and actually heavier once sufficient HS are installed to semi counter the heat).

THAT, is how PPCs are supposed to work, how they worked in TT, how they worked in virtually ever other form of Mechwarrior. And that, I do believe, is what MOST of us have been asking for since closed Beta... stop giving us gimmicks, and just give us a simple fix.. 15 heat, for 10 pts of focused damage, in a near hitscan shot. No need for anti ecm, no need for unicorn farts and rainbows, jsut give me a gun that puts the damge where I point, the same damage, each time I pull the trigger.

And while the Devs are at it, ****** the cool down, so it takes 5 second between shots. This will actually IMPROVE their usefulness far more, as the extra cool off will increase endurance. The number one reason people fire them so damn fast in the first place, is because unless you boat 4-6 of the damn things, you have to fire nonstop to actually do significant damage to any one location.

**PS>>> seriously DEvs? And while you are at it.. NERF the PC filter on this damn forum. r-e-t-a-r-d, when used properly, is NOT an offensive, insulting term.

Sorry not in favor of the pint point PPC damage idea. Like you said players are boating 4-6 even without the heat reduction, that's 40-60 damage, imagine that as pin point damage! That's like one hit kill to light and med mechs right there.

If you can kill them in one hit, I think the ECM's disabling effect is unnecessarily.

I've killed mechs at 10 meters with a ppc. They don't do a lot of damage, but it is not 0 damage.

In a game that's taken this long to even recognize machineguns needing work, that we've gotten 3 different things specifically for affecting ECM in such a short time is not a small pattern.

I believe they technically do 0.9 damage at 10 meters.

I'm at a loss at why ECM is so OP.

Someone care to explain it nicely?

we will see how it all plays out , but I for one dig it. For one, ppcs "look" amazing.. Theres alot in game that you miss in the heat of battle, but watching my vid caps, ppcs firing frame by frame are amazing...
secondly, ppc get a heat reduction... improved viability.
3rd, hey its not perfect, as stated by others, ecm is abit much , but the ppc effect IS a counter.. and its skill based... ecm is not as much of a problem as it was before and this is one more aspect of weapons balance that adds complexity to the game.
Imo, its a beautiful thing..
Theres always other stuff they can do as far as stacking of ecm effect etc to further balance it..

PPC's aren't meant to COUNTER ECM. It makes sense that they would overload the ECM for a bit, and that's really the only reason is was implemented.

It's really just going to make PPCs that much more popular. Get ready to hear a lot more PCHOOM!

I don't care. I love PPCs

But, really, PPCs are supposed to screw with electronics. They just don't in MWO yet.
