That perhaps YOU do not care about.

Frankly Bryan and many other devs have avoided the forums because of asshats like you.

SO KEEP IT CIVIL!

As an actual, non-made-up Objective-C 2.0 general programmer, I don't believe the original post for even a single second.

  • We started developing MWO in the summer of 2011, with full production beginning in October 2011.
  • We went Open Beta 1 year after full production started.
  • We have a team of 43 people working on it daily, not including IGP staff.
  • CryEngine is a renderer and a level editor, we had to write all of the backend architecture, customer support tools, website, money management, analytics, etc. etc.
  • The average feature takes betwen 1-4 months to complete before test.
  • Levels take a 7 person team 3-4 months to make before test.

Can I take this moment to point out that you are being trolled Sir.

@ Bryan

Thanks for taking the time to reply to what is basically a troll thread. You didn't have to and the info provided is neat stuff (I am not in the industry so always curious). You guys are great! :(

How about you stop being a jerk huh?

Atleast bryan's giving us answers huh?

let's look at the real answer.. cuz most people can't handle rejection.. so it's better to make up excuses and try to cast aspersions. I have a feeling the PGI staff are and will continue to be more gainfully employed than this Chap.

Well these are Canadians so they wake up at around 11am, roll into work around 1, they spend a few hours playing hockey, they fit in a little time for programing, then they all go to the clinic for free heathcare and then they sit down and have a beer so it takes a while to produce a game :( .

I kid, I kid, Canadians are great. Actually they have developed a game in about a year, this includes most of their planning and implementation, that is just impressive. How many other game companies can claim the same.

Agreed, thank you Bryan (and the rest of PGI). Since you knew obvious troll was trolling, for taking the time to put an in print answer to set this and hopefully all future asshats straight, even if it meant you got to listen to yet another know it all asshat claim he was essentially too good to work for your peasantly company.

@Bryan.

You and I have had some disagreements in the past Bryan, but you guy's do good work. Are there things that need to be adjusted, certernly and it feels to us players like it takes forever. But things ARE improving, the last patch proved that.

What you guy's need is a good string of patches really, some quality content too. And I'm sure you'll see things improve around here.

Joseph, this might have been a troll post, but I for one am glad it was posted. It can finally put to rest the amount of work and time and effort these guys have gone through to give us MW:O and this can be referred back to in case anyone else decides to post something that is 'lacking forethought' regarding how much time has actually been put into the game creating it.

Hey, don't ruin the moment.

Its not often the devs walk and talk with mere mortals.

Its like Zeus came down and said, "Yo, this is how electricity works!" And all you have to say is, "Dude, you just stepped in a dog ****."

:(

People really do need to understand that PGI has given us something really great with the resources they had and the time given to them. Sadly it seems to be easy to be full of hate than be optimistic.

aaaand don't forget Alex didn't just bang out 1 sketch of each Mech and POOF, "we have a winner!" (Only I am that cool..... ) Between back and forth concepts and idea, it would be weeks before the Models even were started for reach one. And even then, you oftentime need to change stuff as you find out what looks good in 2D doesn't always actually WORK in 3D.

Add into that the number of concepts that never launched, or were scrapped, sometimes when finished, and them having to do at least 16 Clan Mechs in secrets during this whole time, and just the Art department side would have needed the better part of a year.

(helps when you actually work in a field to understand what goes on in getting Art from doodle to fully integrated, and that ain't even the fact tehy are essentially having to rewrite EVERY line of Code in Cryengine as they go to make it "work" for MWO)

Naw.. that was the OLD Steiner Scout Lance........ wait til you see our new ones.... (Hint.... http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Thunder_Hawk) :(

You know you wanna scout with us.....

Some one take those things away before they hurt themselves.

Also could you explain the whole Katrina Steiner thing to me? I'm fairly new to this.

That and I hope it will temper some of the more 'hopeful' among the brethren. If turn around time for a map is 7 months then we aren't going to get a CW with hundreds of maps anytime soon.

Realistic expectations are good for both the fanbase and the Devs.

All of it's quite funny compared to claims of MWO publishers that they worked on the game since March 2009 (?), which is roughly 3 years ! or 900 work days, and that they have highely skilled team of 50 people .. working on MWO(?) :(

Just doenst add up, does it

If you're such a stud then go make us a game and tell us when you're done.

Come to GDC 2013 and drop your resume down. We're going to have a recruiting booth! :(

But in all seriousness, much as I love Alex, I think you need to get him some help on the 2D concept side. Having a good creative foil and someone else to do his "grunt' work would only speed up and improve concepts stuff while also reducing the danger of a single style kinda making everything start looking to similar.

Just sayin. (and to get over the Unseen hump...... )

But most of us love u guys anyhow.
