Now, the pc gamer colors looks really crappy *way to bright*.

Would you please at least explain where or how it looks different to the picture i posted the page before?

This is "feedback" afterall, not "ranting" or "blind praise".
Even if you want to play the criticism card, theres always helpful criticism, and male-bull-feces..

The latter doesn´t help anyone!

This is actually a very interesting psychological puzzle. What is the value of a color?

Compare this to Skins in League of Legends. (I would compare it to items in DotA 2, as it is a closer comparison, but I am not familiar with the pricing there) A skin for a character runs from $5 to $20. The equivalent cost in MC would be 1000-4000

For a single use skin, you can score a full on 3 color paint job plus pattern for, what, 2000 MC? That's about $8. We're hitting for par here. But hold up, you also get those colors persistent to use on all of your mechs' default color schemes.

So let's say you've got three colors that are "your" colors. Let's say you've got one pattern that's your pattern. To get your personality stamped on all of your mechs, you're looking at 3000 MC. To unlock "your" pattern for every existing chassis and variant, you're looking at 4500 mc, for a total cost of about 7500 MC, or a grand total of forty five bucks, which is a hell of a lot less than you'd spend on a ten dollar skin for each mech.

I am not going to argue value for money. Aesthetics has different value to everyone, and some people cherish the ability to customize themselves to the fullest. To them it is worth it. Other people just want to blow things up, and it feels like a lot of money.

However, if you look at the economics of it compared to other free-to-play aesthetic upgrades, it is not too far afield. And in some respects, you might even call it a bargain.

Edit: There is one thing I disagree with most vehemently - single use patterns. Even though their cost is pretty inconsequential (literally less than $0.50), I am not fond of the idea of buying something you can just scrub off with real money.

Overall, I like the new colour system.

I like the fact that unlocking a colour unlocks it for all mechs.

I think that the colours are too expensive in MC. I bought a couple of camo colours because I still have founder's MC left over and because they were on sale ... I also bought all the half-price Cbill colours but I can't see ever paying 500 or 1000MC to buy a colour for virtual mechs.

I also think the pattern prices are high ... especially since they only apply to one mech. I have about 12 different mechs (not just variants) in the mech bay. If there was a pattern I liked it would cost a ridiculous amount of MC to obtain it for all the mechs. For me the price point is again too high for this item.

If the pattern prices applied to a class of mechs (light, medium, heavy, assault) ... that might be more attractive but I am still not sure it would be worth it.

I also have feedback on the new in-game colour scheme:

The white for "all" text is good.

I find the new blue used for team text is very hard to read. It requires more time looking at it to read it effectively. It is more difficult to read than the previous colour.

I also find the blue friendly markers on the mini-map harder to see than previously. In particular, the minimap is hard to read using peripheral vision while the previous blue stood out better.

The blue used for marking friendly mechs on the screen is sufficient to the purpose though also hard to read if you mouse over it.

If you plan on owning every single color. Most people may end up content with just a few. Thats how they work. Yeah theyll have sucker fish like me who will get quite a bit but over time. Ill only own phraken on one or two mechs at most end up with the standard color wheel and then go from there. You own the paint and its worth the price imo.

Look at it this way in the past you had 5 mechs (Speculation) and they were all painted the same. Three colors at 250 MC each which equals 750 mc. After painting all 5 mechs you spent 3750 now your only spending 2250 (750mc) and you get to keep the paint for future mechs. Oh and that camo you ditched for phraken but wanted it back to run with your group. Yep you get it. Yeah totally worth it again in my opinion

That is 120 colors. Make it 128(?) with the C-bill and PC Gamer colors?

Didn't they say yesterday that there were approx 130+ colors?
Yep, they did. (http://mwomercs.com/...o-spec-phase-2/)

$400+ is a LOT for digi-paints.

Prices are obscenely high. Like by a factor of 10. Someone needs to look up the definition of "micro" and apply it to their micro-transaction pricing model.

There should be a seperate thread for color pricing imho, as you wont be getting any real feedback out of this thread with the constant whining inbetween *sigh*

1) WoT already has ridicoulous prices for camo & emblens, this is the benchmark MWO will lean to.
2) Ingame, you don´t (or barely) see any colors on others mechs at all unless you are standing right in front of it (so there goes all your "but its my camo value" comments - right into the dustbin).

PGI/IGP let me summarize this thread for you..

Positives
-You finally are allowing camo paints to be shared on other mechs as well as colours, about damn time.
-You still have single use paint jobs available.

Negatives
-Your Pricing, you completely missed the mark again.
Lets start with skins: 750MC is ludicrousness, why? Lets say most Mechs will have 4 Variants buying the paint job for all 4 once is 300MC. Now not all people will use the same skin on all variants and that is why single use skins are important BUT the idea here should be to try and UPSELL your customer, charge 375-400MC to unlock the skin for all variants of that Mech. This means people are going to be more likely make this purchase as its more "future proof" and will allow some change in their life when they get bored of a paint job but the ability to still change it back if desired.

Colour Pricing: Jebus, seriously 1000MC for a premium colour? That's insane, excessive, crazy - take your pick. The fact that colours are now unlocked permanently is honestly a requirement that should have been in place from the beginning but at this pricing its too much. The current "sale" should be pushed to all colours and made permanent IE drop the MC rates in half, the cbills can remain at what they are currently since that is free money anyways and just takes time to make.

That means 250MC for standard colours 500MC for premium, this would be reasonable pricing and is still twice what you were charging before this change today and the fact that you have added over 100 extra colours is opening more revenue stream for you as its giving people more choice. This is something you can expand in the future with metallic colours, etc. Its not a close ended revenue as there is still room for growth, i have a feeling your marketing people look at this as one time costs and therefore jacked the prices to crazy amounts failing to realize that people will buy colours just to have them if they are priced reasonably.

Finally my last suggestion regarding colours is bundle packs. You can offer 6 colours at the cost of say 5 (2500MC) giving people added discount when buying in bulk but also giving you the chance to bundle less common colours with more popular ones. IE if baby blue isn't selling throw it in a bundle with a 2-3 other colours that are selling, if people are getting something for free they are more likely to buy it even if it isn't something they need right now.

That was the biggest and my only problem with your colour change today: the pricing. Again your marketing/pricing people are the cause of so much uproar because it feels like they fail to actually understand the community/market they are selling too. I don't mean to be negative but this isn't the first time your pricing has been what the community feels is way off of what it should be, granted everyone wants something for free these days but i am pretty sure the pricing model i just laid out would still be profitable for you and good for the community.. it also seems like common sense. Honestly it feels like your prices have either been continuously too high or too low (LOW was when the New Years items came out they were just TOO cheap if you ask me).

If you have any questions/concerns please just ask us for input - I would personally rather help you get it right the first time than see another occurrence of what happened today where a patch is released that serves to anger your paying beta community. I honestly believe there is room here for you to make money and for the community to be happy, you just need to score that balance.

Oh and yes i have spent around $150 on this game so far so I consider that a pretty decent investment in something which is still a "beta", $60 founder pack and close to $100 of MC reloads already.. and i am willing to spend more, you just need to make me want to spend it and not flip you the bird instead.

I like the new system, but i would like to maybe have a vaster flipchart of basic colours, cause the 5 we posses atm are a bit ugly tbh.

1000MC is pretty much for 1 single colour, maybe you could sell colour packs like the PC Gamer Pack at spezial pricing...

Paul will not be pleased. In all seriousness if I do it'll probably only last a few rounds. I hate the color pink.

Since you reimbursed for the camos you removed from my mechs, the exact setup I owned before patching I cannot afford now.

Pre patch:
Raven Woodland:
Obsidian Black
Titanium White
Crimson

Refunded MC:
1625

Cost to replace:
3750

Thanks. I'm glad I paid 120$US.

Edit:

Also just noticed I didn't get reimbursed for the camo paints on my other mech Atlas which had aforementioned black and one of the yellows. Either that or I was reimbursed but add another 1000 MC in order to replace it with the **** new system.

Thanks again for bending me over and forgetting to lube up.

New total to replace 4750 MC Also known as an ADDITIONAL $21.90 US.

Edit: math for above:
4750-1625=3125 MC needed
3000MC purchase: $14.95
1250MC purchase: $6.95
$14.95+$6.95=$21.90
and leaves me with 1125 mc to do what, buy another color i didnt want?
