this is in response to this... http://mwomercs.com/...-based-servers/

been thinking, we should put our hands up so the development team has a good idea of our numbers. i think the only way to get a server will be to help ourselves by showing our numbers. however i do not know how to make a counter , if someone could make one and put it here that would be fantastic.

as suggested by Nav, if you live in or near Australia click on the like

or go here, someone made a counter  http://mwomercs.com/...region-are-you/ thanks Iyonn

Why not just get everyone who would like an Australian based server (lives in or close to Australia), to "Like This"?

That would work yeah?

Oh and Dirk, if your ever looking for an Aussie Unit to join that was formed just for MWO, just click my sig.

lol night of shadow i dont believe your an aussie. oi oi oi kapeesh !!!... ok, but im up for making an aussie clan thats down under your mums skirt style. basicly a crude clan for mwo is usaully what happens when aussie create solidarity. will add you dudes to my friends list.

Also another reason we should all join up is because we are all Merc Corp or lone wolf

keen to see how they handle this

being forced onto US servers will be laggy, but im going to play it to death anyway
but for several games it has made the experience not worth it

this is not about recruiting, it is about assassing numbers, without the player base we will not get a server, so i thought to attempt to establish that so if we have enough the developers will make us a server, we gotta have the numbers though.

Yeah, I was worried about this too.
Also, Xenois, we are all Mercs or Lone Wolves because we are Australians and no one tells us what to do!
We play in Merc companies with our mates or go Lone Wolf and we kick arse under our own flag!

But yeah, we really need pacific servers...

Although, are we going to have the ability to host our own servers? (do forgive me if that's a stupid question)

WARNING: EXTREME PESSIMISM!

Keep in mind that the game runs through a persistant map and so everyone has to be connected to the same server for said map. After that it would probably be P2P and then any fleeting hope would be it supports dedicated servers for private games though thats doubtfull.

EDIT: As long as we dont get left with another SpaceMarine I wont complain though.

I really think if they want to really sell mwo & get the popularity it deserves they would definately need Asia server like Oceanic because you know asia is hard core about mech combat. Just look at Front Mission Evolved, Steel battalion Armored Core For Answers. They all had foreign players like japanese players. Seriously those dudes can play hard no matter what game. You think when Star Craft becomes a nation sport in Korea it raises a few eye brows.

My ping in WoT hovers around 200-300+ mark and its perfectly playable for me. So if MWO has that range and is not fully twitch based like WoT is, then I'll be ok with that.

Besides, MWO isn't exactly as popular like SWTOR and WoW is, or any other FPS game so I'm not sure segregating an already niche community into even smaller communities is a good idea...

But it is an issue and I wonder how PGI is handling it. They haven't say anything regarding non-US players...

^This^

I havent found any reason not to trust the dev's though as everything they have done seems to be great, but many a game has died ever so quickly because it lagged to the point of unplayability, so I'll cross my fingers while we wait for them to tell us how the MP system will work.

I hope we can get some Oceanic/Aussie servers. If not I hope my internet will be up to the challenge for playing this game on a US server.

To be honest, as long as it's not super twitchy, it should be fine to play on our broadband and DSL connections guys. Hell, I play WoW on my connection, and it runs fine. WoW, LoL, SC2 - on the US servers, all - and they all run just fine.

they are not the same kind of game, time is more important in a first person shooter, player skill is involved, i have played WoW , and have been playing DDO since release, i never found lag TOO much of an issue , but they are get into range, hit the sequence of buttons, kill the enemy, this will be requiring us to AIM , and LEAD our fire, ping/lag will add to the challenge.

We don't know how it really going to work. Is it really fully twitch based totally dependent on pings? If its anything like WoT, then a 200-300+ pings are fine. Yes, we'll be at a disadvantage but nothing insurmountable.

If anything, it just proves how much superior of a Mechwarrior we Asia/Oceanic people are
