there is also AMS which ppl seem to not give enough credit. There is a lot of anti missile available along with ECM like terrain and the fact you have to hold locks and guide them in. It's not a fire and forget weapon. This is speculation and scaremongering. Right now LRMs are fine.

They are also a scattered weapon blanketing the targets armour not a focused weapon.

Granted LRMs are annoying and quite dangerous. But they are a weapon after all it's kinda their job.

Clan LRMs ammo will also hopefully be stupid expensive + repair bills. Their could be a way to stop spamming by them not being cost effective to do so.

what repair bill? also cover doesn't help when you can use your LRMs like a splact cat.

Im hoping clan LRMS will retain the minimum 180m range even though its not TT, but otherwise we may well see the death of the SSRM

not necesarily, ssrms shoot faster (by which I mean recycle time) and do more damage per missles (and as far as I've noticed spread less) also LRMs tend to be heavier than SRMs

Intent speculation based on absolutely no information.

How can you worry that something will be OP when it doesn't exist?

Given the liberties they've taken with every other aspect of battle tech, it seems a bit impossible to predict what riff they will take on clan balance.

What exactly makes you thing that it matters on what mech you mount op-weapons?

What makes you think weapons are OP when they haven't been implemented or even announced? When you literally have no information about them except for vague expectations based on a board game and a collection of science fiction novels?

Because grognards will complain if clantech isn't strictly superior to IS gear.

Stalker-5M
Standard structure
310 XL engine, 2 DHS in engine
16 tons standard armor

LA: Clan LRM20, 1 x DHS
RA: Clan LRM 20, 1 x DHS
LT: 2 x Clan LRM 20
RT: Clan LRM 20, 1 x DHS
CT: TAG

12 tons ammo
15 DHS total

180 damage alpha strike, no minimum range, all homing missiles. 37% cooling efficiency, so your max sustained DPS would be 14.023

Largest engine, so top speed is 65kph (with Speed Tweak). This thing would eat anything at any range. At point blank, it's effectively a SRM-72 launcher.

Not that anything is necessarily going to be bad, mind you. Just saying, when Clan tech comes out and people get steamrolled by Clan weapons, you saw this build here first.

clan gauss rifles will be worse, they save 3 tons and a crit. an atlas could mount 2 clan gauss rifles. there is an annihilator variant with 5...

The best way for them to do C-LRMs would be to have them direct fire only, as the Clans throughout the ages have always used trials to resolve combat including for the most part sticking to single combat, having indirect fire LRMs wouldnt make much sense. If they do this it will limit the Clan LRM systems from being a support weapon to a primary weapon that requires LOS to use, and most of the range advantage LRMs provide would be nullified by this feature.
