I certainly don't mind seeing fewer lights in the game, as those still left tend to be somewhat skilled, providing a good challenge. I am happy to pilot lights and provide EW for my team, battlefield intelligence simply cannot be ignored. Smart use of ECM, TAG, BAP and NARC can make the difference in any given battle.

Repair and Ream:
blinkin - Will repair and rearm ever come back? if not please explain the reasoning behind removing it.
A: No plans to bring back RNR. RNR was removed to create a balanced economy. In the end it created more problems than solved, and was essentially a tax. The system was prone to abuse by farmers and active players. The decision was made to protect the integrity of the game at the cost of removing a feature most people did not use (based on telemetry).
-----------------
so maybe more people are dusting off their heavier mechs again since they know all the time on it won;t be wasted because it won't end up turning into an R&R money sink where they end up losing money after each match?
i still play hunchie most of the time til treb comes out- so more medium goodness for me.

Too much is like not enough. The craze over the ECM-Streak-lagshield combo may have past and some may be looking for the next "cheese built"/easy-mode mech and I hope it's only that: something that will move on with time. Reminds me of all the warrior-monk when the original Guilds War launched.

There's currently no good reason to drive a medium, besides personal preference, since PGI removed repair costs. But that's always been the case in the board game and all the Mechwarrior games.
Hopefully they can come up with a few perks for mechs with less tonnage. I believe in the Mechcommander games that heavier mechs could be detected from further away and you got targeting info sooner.

I'm happy to fill the role, never underestimate what a lance of lights with coordinated pilots can do.
piloting a light was , is and probably will be easy mode
a lance of lights feels like cheating

But, once I'm done, I'll be back riding my ECM/TAG/LL-equipped Cicada, tagging and sniping your butt far away from a position where you can't see me.

Once we start seeing clan mediums and IS mediums built as a response to clans, I suspect there will be a resurgence in the popularity of medium mechs.
And I still see approx. 1-2 light mechs per match, unless it's one of the 6+ assault mechs matches.

If your mech isnt a boat, LRM/SRM, PPC, AC. Sporting as many of said item as possible, you are going to lose against someone who is doing it. The ability to pack so much damage in a single volley, allows mechs capable of boating like that the ability to cripple light and medium mechs with a single volley.
Light and medium mechs are also not quite as capable of boating like the heavier mechs, There are 1 or 2 variants that are capable, but then they lack the ability to take the damage being dished out.
Lights and mediums are currently a waste when it comes to competitive gameplay. The light serves some purpose in conquest.
PGI needs to do something about this problem. Mechs in Tabletop were not capable of pinpoint targetting, so 4 ppcs on a mech meant it dealt alot of damage, but not all that damage was going to hit that same location, at the same time, stripping the armor, and blowing out that section in a single volley.

When I do play lights now, I tend to stick with the team and wait to play a harrasser role, rather than scouting.

That being said, I'm having a great time in my ECM Spider now that the hitbox / netcode fixes have made my lasers as accurate as they're supposed to be.

it's be great if the mediums got a bit of a speed or armor boost something to draw them away from simply being lighter less armored lighter armed heavies

ECM has held constant, but has shifted towards D-DCs since I last recorded it in December

No, use of ECM mechs is in fact in decline, which is causing quite a few problems in the pub.
I beg to differ, At a minimum, any drop I am in sees 2-5 ECM mechs on one side - that's been the norm in any drop I have been in since ECM was implemented.
