Sorry, but I am also against any kind of repair, or reload capability. You have to balance the amount of armor and ammo on your mech for a reason. If you can repair, and reload whats to stop someone from making a LRM boat with low ammo and low armor but the fastest engine it can get? The could just run into range, pop off a few shots, and run back to repair. Thats just not the feel MW is supposed to have.

I would like some maps to have a military base in the center, with different stations that either: restock ammo, repair armor, spray coolant.

No repair
No rearm
No extra coolant

You pack your lunch before you go. Or, you live with being hungry.

The MFBs were used because you fielded a single lance deep inside enemy territory. Fighting 1:1 match doesn't require extensive repairs and mechs are built around such situations (mostly). :)

So we don't need them in a multiplayer match.

problem with putting them in is .. it would make the matches last way too long... i mean some could go on for hours at a time depending how good ppl are at cycleing their mechs in for rep/reload

so no id have to say id be against it =X

MFBs weren't in MW2 at all, and I managed to not die horribly too many times. I think no MFBs (or repair scaffolds) can be implemented just fine.

MFBs were one of the worst aspects of Mechwarrior 3. They shortened the play time of the single player considerably.

Completely repairing and rearming a mech during active battle?!

I really enjoyed the MFBs in mw3, but unless your guarding a base against a sustained onslaught (ie 4 of your mechs trying to hold out against multiple waves from a rival faction/merc corp) having extra ammo or even slight armour repair would spoil things, and even then in a holdout situation I'd want to have to switch to a spare backup mech whilst they take time to do a patch job on the damaged one.

You could have a go between and have a few maps that can be played with a Field base/Repair gantry and you have to protect it.

But I must be honest I don't know if I would want it because honestly how fast can the Tech's slap on new plates of armour and reload you weapons?? I am thinking a lot longer than a few seconds :)

Mech repairs take time. Mech reloads take time. In order to get to where the mech is stored one has to remove heavy armor plates. At least one hopes the armor is still there else there would be ammunition explosion.

The MW3 Mobile Field Base was horrific and yet another contrivance to make a single player game less daunting. Repairing mechs takes hours for all but the lightest of work.

The idea that reloading a mech is easy amuses me to no end as realistically armor would be heaviest over ammunition storage and thus not the easiest to access due to needing to be able to survive battle damage.

I'm all for a game mode of a type of base assault.. that has turrets, a primary target as well as repair bays (that can be destroyed of course).

Notice how I said game mode, no one would force you to play it. It's an alternative to team death match or capture the flag.

One team could be defending, the other attacking.. or just have straight up 2 mirrored bases to prevent imbalances.

Then you could always do a dropship battle too. I guess the possibilities are kind of endless now that I think of it. haha.

MFBs are 10 years ahead in the timeline - Mobile Field Bases are similar to a DropShip's 'Mech or vehicle cubicle, providing a repair platform equipped with the same gear minus launch mechanisms and amenities.[1] They were first put into use by the Federated Suns and Lyran Commonwealth in 3059 and Clan Coyote in 3060.

I always pack bologna. Bologna sandwiches. It's good fighting food.

No thanks. I don't even want to see coolant flushing in the game tbh.

Horrible for multiplayer, and utter fail in canon- right alongside "coolant flushes" that insta-chill a 'Mech.

I want a Battletech game, not an arcade game with instant mitigation of one's problems like emptying your ammo bins, burning your heat sinks, or damage in general.

If 3 mfb's were placed in the center of the map allowing either side to claim none or all 3 mfb's and providing the mfb's with very little armour to allow quick assination and to ensure there’s almost never a mfb left by the end of the game?

How about we just don't put the arcade-game powerups in and just shoot each other as Herb intended.

(Seriously, no. They're literally in MW games to make them more arcade-like, and have no basis in canon.)

Dumping ammo was available in previous iterations, and is supported in canon, novels, and the Tabletop. In a game like this, it would also be punished by replacement cost as well (but it's cheaper than repairing your shredded mech if it does explode).

I'd be happy if it were handled similar to how the TT does it, requiring several seconds of standing still and an automatic explosion if the corresponding rear torso is hit.

On the subject of MFB's, it takes 15 minutes per point of armor to be replaced per TT rules (that's 4 hours per ton). The MFB is not for in-battle repairs, they still operate by the same scavenging/repair rules as any Mech-bay does. All it does it allow your field base to be moved according to shifting battle lines.

The MFB in Mechwarrior 3 was a single-player solution to let you mow down wave after wave of mechs. It has no place here.

I'm talking about "mitigating empty ammo bins" by instant reloads from a MFB, rather than just dumping ammo (which was more damage control, and could be done in seconds anyway without an MFB.)
