my post count is a number - but it means I've posted something - which means there is something for someone to look at - which leads to the post's content themselves.

But the actual number is just a number. There's no way to tell by that number what sort of contribution the poster has made.

Which is the point.

I have and do read previous posts of people that make good points or have good ideas, but whether it's their 10th post or 100th post is irrelevant.

I hope they aren't weighing post count TOO heavily, no offense to the faithful out there with hundreds of posts  There's a lot of us on here who are every bit as die-hard a fan of the universe, who only just recently found out about this forum!

Also, just from a logical standpoint posting a lot on a forum doesn't necessarily mean someone would also be a productive tester. There's a lot more that goes into troubleshooting and bughunting than just being excited about the product, although it certainly helps!

All that being said, though, I do hope you "old timers" get in. You've certainly waited for it :)

The unavailibility of the founders packages has nothing to do with Servers and ping.
+ Euro has pretty decent ping over the ocean ( around 120-150 for me ) and I can play even fast FPS on US servers, so connection is no problem either.

During WoT's closed Euro beta (don't ask me how I got in, I have *no* clue!) My ping to europe on my old rig was about 225-275. Not good, but playable.

On US servers on my old rig i had pings in the 75-100 range, now, new rig, down to 15-30........ Euro's could play if they got beta invites.

But you have not taken into account that not all registered forum users will want to sign up for beta, nor the number that are under 18 or do not qualify for other reasons. (inappropriate video card or whatever). It would be impossible to actually calculate your true odds, but i congratulate you for trying! Anything to pass the time, right!

If they wont pick you because your not 18 that is bull, Im 16 and am in the closed alpha for World of Warplanes and the closed beta for World of Planes and I refuse to say anything about them when my freinds ask minus what has been publicly relased. Just because im not 18 doesent mean I cant sign (agree to in this cause) an NDA. Not all teenagers talk about everything they do/see to everyone they know. Alot of us are very mature.

If you're not 18 you can't legally sign an NDA. And by what it's sounding is that the NDA for MWO would appear to be strict and full legal - not just an informal agreement.

Your maturity is not an issue. You, as a minor, are unable to enter into a contrat with another party. This is what disqualifies you from the beta. Dont feel bad, the fact that my computer just died and I can't buy another until closer to launch. It happens, no sense being upset about something that makes you wait a mere two moths for a chance to play mwo.

However, I do have a question. If You are under age to sign an nda, does that mean you wont be able to get early access with the founders pack? Paul said thats the only way to garantee beta access...

Quite a bit lower, I have seen multiple people on other forums admit to having made multiple accounts to try for the beta (one guy claimed to have gotten in twice)

the NDA might lift on July 17th maybe? That would solve the problem at least.

Well, i'm from the UK. This is my first post in these forums BUT i'm 47, i'm a serious gamer and have previous beta-testing experience, have a decent rig, decent internet speeds and have been playing Mechwarrior / Battletech in various forms for many years.

I legitimately! illed out my Beta registration with 100% completion and I play many online games, some of which i belong to squads and mostly play with americans at american peak-times. I'm sure there are quite a few european players that could say the same and I would be disappointed if UK players were excluded from open-beta....one of the things they will need to test, being the effect of different pings etc on server stability.

Post no. 1 unlike some of the people on this forum that have boosted their post counts with idle supposition and 'pony' threads.
I will still be checking to see if i'm selected however many posters have written off european participation in the closed Beta.

The summary of every post so far:

Our chances of invitation are at best lousy (1:7) and at worst all but impossible (1:1000).  If you haven't received one yet, you might as well just circle June 19th and July 17th on your calendar, and stop hitting refresh.

QFT.

And let's not forget, that 1:7 odds was assuming another batch of 500.

True if you are located near a mayor internet hub you might even be faster then NAs with a bad line. :) Lets hear it for the "Euro's".
