Assault Minus The Base

Can we have an assault mode minus the HQ base.
3 games in a row, hardly any shots fired. No real fighting just whole lances running up to tag the base.
Might as well be playing death racer not a mech fighting game.
Sure in as part of a strategic game a single undefended HQ might make sense.
But right now its not assault mode, its manoeuvre mode.
For the record I'm playing Commando's... so I understand the need for things other then toe-to-toe bashing.

Once they make this mode the QQ will be directed towards every light who runs to a far corner of the map and powers down to avoid death wasting everyone's time.
God you people are stupid. Defend your ******* base

At least you know where the enemy is headed when they're not hunting you down... So you can find them... And kill them.
But! I'm sure we'll get true TDM or even duels at some point.
Possibly in Solaris V. Or IV, I can never remember.

Things may be a little different when we get the AI controlled turrets, but for now it's up to us to hold the line.

I will gladly troll those matches in a shutdown light on top of a building to keep everyone's mech for 15 minutes while I go have a smoke.

and that´s when PGI has to kick idlers off the match, with a death towards their KDR

I think Solaris would literally be a lot better an arena for this kind of free-for-all sans objective combat than TDM on regular maps. There'd be no hiding in Solaris, it's gladiator combat. All about the pew, and intentionally. You'd either fight for real or take it out of your mode rotation. It could be setup for teams or every man for himself, both of those modes would get played I'm sure. TDM in a regular setup is going to lead to Livewyr getting cancer from all the smoking he's going to be doing.

Guess I would have to adapt and just put an ECM mech in an obscure spot on the map..

(kinda like sometimes when ECM spiders park on top of the citadel in River City)

No, I think you might be on to something. if the maps had one single base in a spot, equal for both teams to get to. And the bases were smaller so you couldn't hide behind them. You could have lrms and snipers being able to watch and pick people off of the base. But there would also need to be some obstructions on the way to the base so that brawlers and Skirmishers could be viable as well.
I think it would more exciting then what we have now imo.

Spider on top of the small ice bridge above the cave in frozen city. No one ever looks up there and it's nearly impossible to shoot up there either

I see a potential problem with attack/defend style maps.
Players would design their mechs for a specific playstyle, either attacking or defending. If a player launched with a mech set up for defending and got placed on the attacking side, what do you think the chances are that this player would just quit the match immediately?

For any kind of real deathmatching the regular maps we have now would be ridiculous amounts of cover and hideyholes for matchgriefers and chicken gladiators. Imagine it on the upcoming maps that are up to twice this size.
