More like play your strengths. I kid you not, I had a sniper that let me close, and I got banged up in the process, so I took cover to see if he'd actually try to fight me at point blank. Low and behold a Sniper who had 150M, who just had to wait me out, decided "eff it" and he went in to give me a free point blank kill shot.
the SRM6 Cat is very easy to counter if you pay attention and avoid certain areas, like "Tunnels".

There needs to be at least 2 to 3 areas per map that you have to cross that has an unobstructed view for sniping. the thing is, it doesn't happen much. Hence why the CTX-3D is getting such heavy use as a sniper.
The maps are set up to be about a 750M engagement. That being said, a properly played LRM boat or Gauss/PPC sniper set up in a kill position with an unobstructed view will always kill the SRM 6 Cat. And there are plenty of bad SRM 6 Cats who will fight that fight.

I do not think a big nerf is needed just a minor one and just a simple weapon HP nerf would be more than enough to balance it out and you do not run the risk or going over the top and making the weapon useless.

You might as well write off brawler Atlases at that point, because the AC/20 breaks when you sneeze at it. And if the SRM's HP's was nerfed, it would pretty much make brawling with SRM's suicide for an Atlas.

Then how would you give it a small nerf with out doing some thing that would have quite a large effect.
You can not change damage the heat or tonnage and range all you are left with is ammo per ton missile spread or weapon hp.
It is the best nerf you can do that is not going to be overly harsh why it might make a few builds suffer like the Atlas SRM builds its better than a nerf to another part of the weapon.

@Darzok
You're the one advocating the SRM weapon nerf (as opposed to this thread discussing the SRM Cat), so don't ask others to validate your argument.
SRM weapon nerf gets a "no thanks" from me by the way. Counter the platform wielding it, not the weapon.
Also, commas.

1st) Treat the symptom:
The A1 arms has a smaller hitbox in comparison to the other Cat's. Enlarge the A1's arms and shrink the other cats arms. That is the only nerf that is needed. You can't touch SRM's without impacting other builds.
2nd) Cure the disease
The developers are pushing brawling as the end all be all for fighting. Look at all of the maps and you get the idea. There needs to be more lanes where you can't use cover to sneak. The idea being to cut down on stealth in the game and increase sniping.
I'd rather the long game be just as valid as the short game, however with the nerf to LRM's and the abundance of cover, its just not the case.

I did not ask him to validate my point i asked a simple question how do you nerf it then with out going over the top and chaning the weapon as a whole.
SRM do need a slight nerf and i will say right now i use them since there the best balanced weapon for heat damage and tonnage and when you look at the other weapons there is no real downside.

Sniping dumb pilots is pretty useless when your sniper weapons spread damage all over the mech(nerfed Point of Impact, latency and hit detection all work aginst snipers here) and the mech you're targeting can move at high speed. It used to be if some twit wanted to charge you in a cat you could head shot him with relative ease(good) but useles cat trolls(and justified Awesome pilots) moaned enough to get the wrong fix implemented, being the wider point of impact for Gauss and PPCs/ERPPCs... sniping is now pretty incidental unless you're wiling to boat 6 PPCs on a Stalker... fun.. the counter to an SRM boat is a PPC boat... great balance

Wrong mech and strategy. CTX-3D, 4 JJ, 2 ERPPC, 2 PPC. Use cover to pop up, fire, and land and wait for heat. You can get 2 good volleys of all 4 PPC's before you need to cool. If your target is over 750M, switch to the ERPPC's exclusively, and you can fire relatively cool at that point. As long as you are willing to move and set up additional sniper locations, you can do damage and not be hit back.

Dance around a little, the Gods of LAGSHIELD will protect you, it's not like they're Streaks. If you're a bawler brawler in an assault then get in their face and show them who got the hooch.
PS, their ammo is probably in their legs if you're in to that kind of thing.
