Weapons need to be balanced by heat, weight, and damage. The mech they reside on shouldn't be altered to limit the weapons. Catapults are simply platforms with the hardpoints needed to abuse these weapons. Nerf the pult and people will simply switch to Stalkers and Cataphracts.

Who said something was wrong with any of that stuff?

Cats are boats. Deal with them accordingly. No nerfs needed.

With the exception of MG's and flamers, I'm satisfied with the weapons balance. LRM's could use a little love I guess.

It's a matter of perception of course. You could say the problem is other weapons are too weak. However you put it these weapons outperform others. That is the real source of catapult complaints.

I don't usually have a problem with the SRM A1 unless it gets the jump on me or there are several in a swarm (which is a problem with any mech). I've got more range with my 2xAC/10s and usually try to clip the ears or take out the cockpit before they get into prime range.

Weapon balance feels fine to me honestly.

No, those players outperfrom the other players, they just happen to be using those weapons.

All weapons have their roles, so you have to play to their strengths.

The catapult complaints are all about the splatapult. It is strong, and very deadly, but it is a one trick pony. People that call for a nerf on it just are not adjusting their own tactics.

They blame the mechanics, instead of trying to improve their own level of play.

Personally, I think weapon balance is the best it has ever been with the recent patch.

Idealy, yes. However, in this game, weapons cannot be balanced in isolation without considering the hardpoints they will be used on due to pinpoint convergence issues.

That's why they introduced hardpoints in the first place.

See this thread for discussion: http://mwomercs.com/...om-closed-beta/

Thats just darling, why would any one take the AC/10 it's the worst out of all the AC options you could possibly choose.

Yea it couldn't possibly be A1 pilots calling for a nerf.

No every one stating they want it nerf is just a noob and should L2play.

Christ, the amount of smug bullshit in this forum is beyond belief.

Just like with every one complaining about light mechs and the huge number of tryhards saying ololol learn 2 shoot there is no lag shield olol.

Try and use an argument that can't be refuted in all of 1 please.

IMO the ACs and SRMs are balanced pretty well and the real issue is group fire and pinpoint accuracy.

but this will never be fixed ;)

Your team must work together and take out the biggest threat first.
Every time I dropped with a group that's the first thing they did. Pick out the splatapults and take them out.
After taking the time to drop with some guys who actually play this game how its supposed to be played I've learned that tactics and strategy are a much bigger part of this game than buffing and nerfing weapons and mechs.

So you say you don't like smug bull%@#!, but your first line is nothing if not smug. Maybe you should cork it? I don't use ac10's I prefer lbx, but people think they are garbage till I kill them with it.

oh dear an lbx 10 lover....

it's a shame people don't seem to realize the AC/2 and UAC/5 are both vastly better weapons :\

as to your point about getting kills with the lbx 10 all i'm going to say is lol.

I've gotten kills with flamers. that doesn't mean they aren't terrible weapons.

Troll builds killing people is hilarious though i have to admit that.

You probably shouldn't be building them as a matter of course thinking they are competetive though buddy.

You can either balance weapons on their own, or towards not encouraging boating.

Boating is the "feature" that needs changes. For all mechs! Extra heat, ammo cost, whatever. Otherwise they'd have to start the balancing all over again with each mech that has multiple weapon mounts of the same kind.

There are people around who play this game for fun and like a BattleMech game instead of a visualized statistic that has to be perfect. Of course you can play the game like you want, but the same right applies to others.

So the real shame is people absent tolerance! You can't buy that, sorry, but you'll learn, sooner or later.

Lag shield is real for some players, and not having collisions, a core game mechanic, makes lights much stronger than they actually are.

The catapult has none of that.

People that are calling for a nerf are really just mad at 6 SRM6's.

I get mad at it too, but thats because I just rounded the corner and it is in my face. If i can spot one at range, it just turns into a primary target.

People had all the same threads about gaussapults before the splatcat and streakcat were FOTM, and nothing changed. I don't think PGI will change anything on the A1 either.

Am I an A1 poilot? Yes I am!

Do i think the A1 is over powered? Yes i do!

Ergo is your point about people saying the A1 is OP due to sour grapes entirely nulified? Yes it is.

Next argument please.

Nerfing SRMs in order to deal with A1s is the wrong approach. Too many other mechs rely on SRMs, so nerfing missiles would adversely affect everyone. If the devs decide the A1 issue needs to be addressed, then nerfing the chassis is the only fair way.

So, because you have a different opinion, you are right and I am wrong?

GUYS, HE SAYS ITS OP!!!!

IT'S OFFICIAL

WE GOTTA DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!

Clearly everyone disagreeing with your posts is just insane, which is everyone in the thread so far.

A1's are a 1 trick pony. I think they're fine as is, maybe make them slower but I'd be hesitant to even do that. What else is a 6 missile hardpoint mech without energy hardpoints supposed to do? Boat NARC's?

Lol AC10 is a good weapon. You're crazy-pants. And if you are convinced SRM-boats are overpowered, I don't think you're qualified to be commenting on how good an AC-10 is.

There's some more smugness for ya.
