You haven't noticed the dramatic rise in LRM Boats?? It's up significantly from last week. already starting to see bitching in games about LRMs. The problem is only going to continue to get worse as more and more people figure out what an easy mode weapon they are.

I don't know if I've seen that many LRM boats, but your original premise that LRM's never got fixed is pretty correct. Missiles still have ability to wreak crazy amounts of damage, and ECM just kind of put a bandaid over the cancer instead of carving it out.

No, I haven't. I see the same amount this week as I have last. DDCs boating LRMs, some Stalkers as well. Ok, I did see one Jenner this week with an LRM 5 or 10 mounted(true story) so there was an increase in light mech LRM usage.

How We Got Here:

On the Feb 8 patch the heat fixes to the PPC allowed it to make a triumphant return to the battlefield. Its in widespread use again now.

On Feb 19, PPCs will now shut down ECM. Which means, AS7-D-DCs will largely become obsolete. They'll be hit with enough PPC fire that their ECM will be negated most of the time.

This leaves only the light mechs to carry the effective ECM systems.

What's Going to Happen on Feb 19:

- LRM boats are going to come back in a big way. If you're driving a heavy or assault mech, you will no longer have effective ECM cover once the PPCs start flying and, once again, you will start getting anihilated by massed LRM volleys.

- Premades will dominate PUG players more than they do now. Why? Because only the light mechs will have effective ECM due to it being harder to hit them with PPCs. On smart premade teams, the light mech drivers will be assigned to hang back and cover the heavies and assaults with their ECM. On pug teams the light mech players will charge out as they do today, leaving the heavies and assaults to get slaughtered by LRMs.

- AS7-D-DCs will gradually disappear from the battlefield. The game will come to be dominated by light mechs toting PPCs and LRM boats - probably Stalkers. Other mech types need not apply.

What can be done to fix the coming LRM apocalypse?

- Nerf LRM damage
- Increase non-ECM LRM lockon time
- Reduce LRM accuracy
- Reduce ammo/ton for LRMs
- Fix the double heat sink issue so its not biased in favor of light mechs.

To be fair I'm still killing people with LRM's but then my frequency of running said boat or efficiency hasn't changed since the patch.

Wait... I did add a pair of lrm 10's to one of my cats to give it some long range teeth out side the 270m bubble, does that count? Have I rung in the apocolypse?

I play a LRM Boat myself and only ppl who get wrecked by my Cent, are the ones who dont use cover, or the unfortunate ones, who are in a LOS Brawl with an Heavy of my Team. In any other Case iam the Dead Meat.

Yea, I only run my 3l Lately, everything else just dies in an LRM attack...they are way overpowered.

I like that build. Reach out and touch someone but still have enough close range damage if you get in tight you can still hurt someone.


Yeah, like the Mayan and Zombie Apocalypse someone needs to call the caterer and return the MREs they were stocking up on.

LRMs are pretty simple to negate but I can't believe the number of people who are still being silly about them. Stand out in the open in your D-DC... please. Let me TAG you and light you up for LRMs. Yes continue to stand there trying to hit me at 700 meters with your PPCs and Gauss as I duck and dodge and the missiles keep streaming in.

Reading this thread just tells me how terrible people are when it comes to taking cover. If you make bad piloting decisions, don't blame it on a weapon being OP.
