Played a round earlier and I was last standing one of the last standing on my team. I'd been doing my job of peppering the enemy because I drive a support class mech. I admit I am working on my aim. I followed the group raining missiles on their targets and saw a cat like myself with out many lasers. I engaged a one on one with him. Players on my team began to tell me how bad I was. I did kill him just took a bit longer.

I so the question is why can't we give positive support when peopleddon't play the best. Keep in mind I did come in second on the score board and I wasn't hiding

Sounds like you were playing fine and did better than the people (read: dead people) whining at you. Walk it off and ignore them. Anyone who starts raging at you like that doesn't have a life and is worthy of being laughed at.

What if, theoretically, I died first, got a kill or two, and ended up at top or second damage total done, despite being out of the match inside 3 minutes?
Can I call the rest of my team (or certain persons on it) bad for not getting any kills, and doing worse damage then me, despite living longer?

More in the theme of the thread, recently I was told through team chat to stop using my TAG and go charging into the enemy team.
I was in an atlas with 1 LRM launcher (on top of the brawl weaponry), using the auto-tag config file, the enemy team outnumbered me 3 to 1 in that location, and I'd lost my CT armor earlier.
I was waiting for them to come for me, as I might be able to take one or two down.

I gave in and charged into the enemy's brawl stalker and other mechs, and died just to quiet the guy.
Of course as of the end of match screen I was second, and he was second to last with ~50 dmg.

Generally I think we should avoid calling any other players bad at the game. Even bad pilots (I'm not naming names) get lucky from time to time. Skilled pilots (I'm not naming names) can have a poor showing quite often, especially with a team.

These things aren't indicative of skill or lack thereof.

Disagreeing with a strategy, a build, a tactic, etc... are also not reasons to put someone down.

So far, I think we've got a pretty positive and fun community. I find these ill-mannered louts to be in the minority.

Looking at the scoreboard after each match cause me physical pain when I drive spiders. My numbers are so small compared to when I drive my Illia or my Unkindness...

Only when they are in a Raven 3L. Exploiting a poorly designed game mechanic doesn't make you good. It just makes you lame.

If it just happens no matter what you drive, it's not the mech.

Keep telling yourself sub 100 damage and no kills doesn't suck if it makes you feel better.

I worked on my aim tonight. positioning is everything... Last match tonight I did pretty well had 3 or 4 cats in my face i stayed alive and managed to put up some numbers. Right now working on my aim is the most important thing besides tactics

I don't get negative responses when i am last man standing, because i run lights and everyone roots for the underdog.
"You can do it man use those two lasers to kill them all"
of which i responded "lol"

There are many kids shouting around in game and you shouldn't listen to them ... but then sometimes it just hurts to see incompetent pilots after you die

e.g. Had this game where a one armed CAT with 3 med lasers left killed the last three of my team (Atlas, Catapult, Hunchback)
It was hillarious and the whole group of spectators just couldnt stop but to share their disbelieve.

At times it just can get frustrating if people:
Constantly fire LRMs at < 180m.
Refuse to use R and instead of ripping the armorless parts shooting whereever.
Not listen to the chat - taking no advice.
in light mechs get owned because of constant overheating

I don't call anyone a bad player. However I do give the occasional compliment when someone does pretty good.

Where's the poll so I can vote yes and start handing out some "participation medals" to all the terribads?

Backseat drivers. They're a pain in the posterior in Real Life and they're an equally big pain in the posterior here. If only we had the option to tell them "If you don't shut it right now I'm stopping this mech and dropping you off at the curb this instant!"

I get people saying stuff like that all the time. Just remember:

"Those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

Play the game and have some fun!

...and eat JELLO!
