I've just had my first freeze/crash since enabling Vsync, so although that seems to have helped, it has not resolved the problem entirely.

Interestingly, today I've just started to XP grind my first Stalker. Its a missile heavy build, and the crash happened when a volley of 40 missiles impacted my target. This was the 3rd match I played in the Stalker.

My long streak of not crashing was while playing in an Ilya Muromets with no missile weapons.

This happens about one game in 3 - NVIDIA card on W7 x64. Seriously reducing my desire to bother queueing, with how often this is happening ;D. Shout if you need any more info, or if there's anything I can do.

New crash speed record. I'm on 12 in a row today.

I should also mention that this lovely client has corrupted my C++ files TWICE in the last two days (it's the only program outside this browser I've been running) ..

No it's not a virus and no it's not malware.

Have CTD back to mech lab in the middle of 70% of my games but now out of the blue I get screen lock ups. Now I'm lucky if I can get thru A match.

I put my graphics settings of MWO down to low settings (from formerly medium) and had, coupled with VSync on, no freezes during the last 2 days when playing with my Foun ders Atlas and my Yen Lo Wang.
2 hours ago I started playing with my Commando 2D however and had 4 freezes in ~8 games (with only 3 of these freezes being when in my own mech ... the 4th crash happened while specating in another mech, when this mech was (in heatview) hit by missiles)

8 GB RAM,
AMD 6850 Graphics card
CPU: AMD Dualcore with 3 GHz per core

Feb 19 patch has opened holes in my game.Previous patch in January gave me perfect freedom from crashes. Looks like the holes opened up again. (aside from video). Re-opened bugs max 10 FPS in game with TS3 active with my teammates. This was combined with no HUD and Not targeting display. Has not occurred during pug matches.
Crash to windows has occurred twice when logging out of game. Both times during PUG matchup games.
Don't know if this is a bug or new feature. Whenever I take any leg damage at all, massive 50% max speed ceiling occurs.

If you have the "freeze" crash, where the screen just freezes and the audio is looping, try limiting the fps

can be done by enabling vsync (if you have a 60hz monitor) or by a user.cfg entry.

It should be in the game directory. C:\Games\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\user.cfg is the default location, if it's not there you can create it.

Open it with notepad and put this in

sys_MaxFPS = 45

that'll limit fps to 45, you can change the number of course, I put it on 45 so it roughly matches with my 85hz monitor, exact matches get you tearing in one place.

I've also experienced multiple frozen screen crashes (application needed to be closed, no error message) about 1 time in 8 or so since the new patch. Also recently started levelling a stalker with missiles... It has never happened prior to this patch though.

fiddled with my vsync but hasnt seemed to help- any ideas?

Fps limiter. Not had a single freeze since I limited fps to 45.

and when you enabled vsync did you check ingame if it actually worked? (F9 views fps)

These two workarounds seem to help:

a) Set monitor refresh to 60 if it isn't that automatically. Set Max prerendered frames to 1 on your NVidia control panel. Set vsync on. Your maximum FPS is now limited and the game will not crash.

or

b) Open user.cfg on game root, add line "sys_MaxFPS = 55". The point is to get the framerate under 60, and this is one way of doing it. I don't use 60 in the variable as the actual game fps is not reliably the one entered here and a value of 55 actually gives me 59 fps. Your mileage may vary.

I have never crashed when either of the above frame limiting methods is in use. As long as the fps is actually below 60, the game will not crash. Note that with the second method, even a framerate of 62 was crash-prone.

Can anyone confirm this further?

I got a 120Hz monitor and it did not crash before Feb 5th patch. I am now testing Full Window mode, even it has reduced performance compared to full screen. I set my FPS limit to 60 also and let's see if it helps.

editing the config file to sys_MaxFPS = 55 seems to have solved it so far...many thanks!

Yeah, i limited to 55 fps in the config and also went to nvidia setting and limited the pre rendering to 1 frame and have not had a crash at all. looks like a solid solution

I get no error message. The game just stops responding, repeatedly. It freezes right in the middle of a battle. That's pretty much it. I have to use task manager to get out of the game. I've probably lost 40 minutes worth of game time over the past week due to this.

Was any error message provided with the crash, if so, which? - None.

Where in the game or menus did the crash occur? - None. Game freezes in battles.

What steps had been taken prior to the crash occurring? - None. Was in a battle, usually winning handily. Then my mech is stuck in the game after I exit and restart.

Does the crash re-occur for you if repeating those same steps? - After a period of time the error occurs again. Over and over and over.

What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch? - I changed no video settings.

What are your System specs? - They're ungodly. Six core processor, 32 GB RAM, Two GeForce 690s for a total of four GPUs and 8GB of RAM, Windows 7.

This is a fun-breaking error.

+1 serious issue since that patch. Playing since early Beta without issue like this. I've frozen up twice in the last hour. This is a serious issue that if not corrected I'll have to come back to the game months from now and hope it fixed bc with the bug its UNPLAYABLE.

I'll try setting at FPS 55 but again this shouldnt be happening on a game "ready to go live"
