Workers: "Yay!"
Overseer: "Because we know you would never want to disappoint that great nation, you have all volunteered for mandatory 18-hour work shifts until then! Isn't it great to live in the land of the free?"

Boooooo!
Apologies Janitor, I think I posted right after you edited your own post in this thread to include a map of unit locations.
I've made some minor adjustments to my post to more accurately reflect the positions you've given. Hopefully I haven't thrown people off too much

Another thought, If we can push our heavier hitters up the side of the mall, maybe using some of the surrounding buildings as cover, we could knock out the Partisans and give our air forces superiority, allowing them to make passes at the tanks and soften them up as you suggest. A combined artillery/air strike on the entrenchments would damage them, if not rattle them enough for the aforementioned infantry to charge their static defence line and plant charges on the tanks and emplacements.
Would take some co-coordinating though. Something perhaps a brilliant young commander could make a name for himself doing?

EDIT: Trying to get something written and posted now. . .I have been having a heck of a time staying connected to the internet over the last few days. The current theory is that it's some sort of electrical problem (loose grounding wire?) that's beyond my ability to fix.

Sorry about derping on the mall map. I'll allow some time for edits before I move us forward.
Spokes, I am a very big fan of your post, but the Arch is at least one klick away from our position, SRMs wouldn't have been able to have reached it.

Not sure what will happen if Spokes has to adjust the last post. If it stands as it is, Li will have made James sob/fly into a protective rage with the poignancy of her statement.
Please continue to astound me with the gravity of your writing Spokes

Sorry Janitor, I didn't see the map before I put that up. Was working off the description of the infantry dug in around the arch from the main story thread.
I don't see a good way to edit my post without gutting it completely...any chance I could play the creative license card and move the arch forward? Symbolism and story bits aside, knocking it down isn't going to seriously hamper the main loyalist combat units, though it will hopefully blind the "ancient tech" field guns and mortars long enough to help our infantry advance a bit. VTOLs with ICE turbines might not do well in the dust cloud either.
If you have some plans for that Arch down the road I can remove that, but...if it's going to get blown up in a symbolic, "things can never go back to the way they were" cloud, I'm not sure its specific location on the map matters that much.
Sorry again for the confusion. Let me know, either way and I'll do what I can. This up/down/up/down internet nonsense is getting really old.

I was kind of saving that for a dramatic moment, but I think I can make it work here. Give me until tomorrow evening to skim back over my previous posts and verify what state I left the weapon in.
The thing is going to arc like crazy though. . .is it okay to assume there are no infantry units or open topped vehicles within about 50 meters of our position?
Apologies again for the foul up.

No infantry are in the area, only one or two stragglers, most are dead.
Will just need to collapse it with artillery or something.

I've always regretted leaving Virgil's security pass-phrase untranslated-- glad to have a chance to go back and correct that.

Will get a post along shortly.
The Mall is one of the few remaining locations where I am planning to thin out the herd, so to speak. So if there are really inactive people, I'm likely to either kill your character, or at the least kill your mech.

I want to have James respond to her right away, as her statement really strikes a chord with him. However if Janitor is posting soon with a bit of situation progression, I don't want to compromise his plans.
A heads up if it helps Janitor, where he was attempting to be cautious before, James will now fight particularly hard in this battle.
I'd very much like him and his mech to make it through for the next chapter though

With the frequency that you've been posting Shepard, James will most likely make it to the end, and the Raven will likely make it to the end in a state that is repairable.

Methinks that the Wolverine is in decent shape. It's biggest issue is the freezer leaking corrosive liquid all over the place and it playing havoc with the mech's sensors, otherwise it's pretty much armor damage.
Figuring on it having 1/2 armor across the entire rear and missing some from that took that AC round down by the river, oh and also some light damage from Bones belly flopping the mech into that department store/adult shop.
Was planning on putting some hurt on that Enforcer, it's gotta be running low on ammo by this point, correct?

And unless the Enforcer has a re-supply station in the fortifications,he'd also be either dry or very low on ammo given the state of our friendly forces.
It should be noted that having a field supply station specifically for the Enforcer isn't that far fetched. The Enforcer's ammo bins are easily loadable and removable clips. All they need is a truck to transport the single ton reloads and a crane to slap them into the loading port.
