@Janitor:
ok, let me ask here: do you want the scout lance lead to lead, give position assignments, etc, or just leave all leading to you and presume nothing?

I was about order a three wide skirmish line, spaced 150 to 200 meters between the three in front (Shade, TOG, and Shepherd), Shade on the vulnerable left flank (due to mech size/weight) with Spokes as a dragging wing or trailing flanker (or whatever you or the unit wish to call it when one 'Mech is behind and to one side of another) to provide cover/support on our exposed north (rather than leave him all alone as the end of the line). Shepherd was going to get the right flank; he has firepower enough to respond and survive until TOG can get close in relief. the two TAGs would be spaced as widely as possible for coverage, TOG in the middle can respond quickly to either side while ordering the opposite side to pull in towards the center for further coverage. Finally, since TOG is in the center, it gives another set of eyes used to scouting a chance to cover the other two with slightly different view angles.

however, if the lead is more an honorary title, TOG would be better not opening his mouth about it... well, at least not on comms.

Well, given that my writing process consists of wiping my face back and forth across my keyboard and mumbling, I wouldn't bet money on that.

As long as we don't end up rolling out and taking Jarrund while I'm typing, no one should feel the need to wait for me to finish before posting.

cmopatrick, go ahead, you can lead your lance how you see fit, Antonio will modify if he sees you doing something that he thinks would be counter productive.

out of curiosity, do we have a map reference grid and/or resolution.

Grid like AY-16 or XX degrees YY minutes lat by xx degrees yy minutes long (the advantage with the former is it is variable, can be mission specific and shorter to call).

Resolution as in size of grid squares (1km, 2km, 5km, 500m, etc.).

i am probably going to wait until we start seeing signs of said enemies to post again unless someone specifically addresses me, just because i did all of the getting ready stuff before i was out the mechbay door.

@Thom: I'm presuming you edited it; the way i read your post now the farmers incident could easily be him remembering something he saw yesterday.

@Janitor: just in case a visual will help, the current line across is:

Shade ... (150 to 200m) ... TOG ... (150 to 200m) ... Shepherd
...
(100m back)
...
(50m in) ... Spokes

That's the way I worked it, unless I missed something. I thought it would be easiest to fix it that way.

note: dropped references to "skirmish line" and one reference to "MTC" (Move To Contact).

andrei will notice the silos for a different reason, you throw flour(or corn meal, since silage generally has some of both mixed in) into the air (especially if it is already ground,) and it can become a fuel air bomb. exploding silos are BAD...

possible retreat plan, run past them and have our fire support rain missiles into the silos for a rather large explosion.

see the dark age book on alkurops for BT universe example.

it is patriots stand or something like that...

I'm waiting for the minefield. First 'Mech hits a mine, and that's the signal for the artillery up on the hill sides to start chucking shells at pre-sighted coordinates on our side of the minefield. Good times. :(

question for the group, am i posting too much for your preferences? i read back through and it appears that i'm unintentionally dominating the thread. is what i'm doing ok for the rest of you or should i back off a bit? (note, this is an honest question, not a plea for strokes).

It doesn't bother me as your post are mostly uneventful save for you bickering with your AI.

Normally, no. Down time is TOG time-- I've already had to clear coffee out of my keyboard twice, so feel free to keep that up.

As we move into situations where we have to go back and forth with each other though, it could get a little overwhelming. I'm not going to be able to reliably field more than one post a day. We may need to slow up a bit right now and let Janitor get things sorted before the shooting starts.

Totally. When the lead starts flying, some people's postings fall by the way side. It's not always their fault, I was in an RP and was on here looking over the forum and not seeing anything going on, so I logged off and went to play some Skyrim. Well when I logged back on a few hours later I was two pages behind everyone as everyone because the NPC's started to pick a fight with us. Well needless to say, it left me in the awkward situation of having to do the time warp to catch up with everyone.
