Battlemech: Quickdraw

I'm gonna get me the Quicky, but I'm not sure what to put in it.
Propably 2-3 streaks and lots of ML and LL like in my Trebs.
Will have to see how easy it is to get XL cored.
But the K might become a great success as the little brother of the Warhammer.
PPCs in the arms and 2 ML/SL + SRM in the torso!
If the 10 ton loss vs the original Warhammer will make this useless have to be seen in game

Ummm, The Orion artwork has been available since December and on these sub forums still. How long do you think the "goofed up" should have lasted? Also, looking at the in game screenshot now, don't you think it looks like a squat Highlander which came out 2 months ago?
Sorry, I couldn't remember the exact wording he used. I found the quote:

I assumed "orthos" meant the in game model.

Nope, orthos are this:
They are needed to make the 3D model accurately to teh concept art.
I would love to see those for the Quickdraw :b
Plus I find it amusing how the modellers go from the above pic of a dragon, having a high placed balistic slot, and into the current dragon having an arm that places the gun at its hips.

So based on that, my guess was probably still correct. Someone internally screwed up the order when giving it to Alex or Alex screwed up the order on his own and made the Quickdraw orthos before the Orion, thus the in game model couldn't be made for the Orion as intended and they had to go with the Quickdraw. Noticing their error, they knew the community would be pissed, so they gave us the excuse that Quickdraw is meta-changing (even though it's nowhere near meta changing at all) and not explaining how, in their eyes, instead of being upfront like they were with the Flea and MASC. They don't want to admit they messed up.

Translation: "We meant to release the Orion but because I made the wrong orthos we had to flip around the schedule. Please don't eat us."

Intentionally redrawn orthos, actually.
The original Dragon release looked like this:
However, people soon pointed out the fact that this, while perfectly based on the TRO art, is wrong when compared to Dragon's actual stats and loadout.
So, they got Alex to redraw it and he got this + new orthos out:

This idea intrigued me, so I did the math.
Ignoring the MG's on the WHM-6R, there are 21 tons of weapons (if the SRM6 has only 1T ammo).
The STD 240 takes 16.5 tons, and requires an additional 1T heat sink to function. This will propel a 60T mech at the correct 64.8 kph.
A 60 ton 'mech can carry just over 12.5 tons of armor. The WHM-6R had only 10.
the WHM-6R had 18 total single heat sinks. We need 8 tons to match that (without the obvious upgrade to DHS).
In total, this leaves us with 56.5 tons taken up, and 25 unoccupied critical slots left over.
If we make the standard MWO modification of DHS, we can have 12 DHS (9 in engine, 3 external, giving 20.8 effective) with 50.5 tons taken up and 25 critical slots left over.
We can then add a maximum of 5 additional DHS, with 10 slots left over. With the 4.5t this leaves us, we can get 2.5 tons more armor (2 pts shy of maximum), and either two jumpjets or an upgrade to a STD 250 engine (which also gives one more heatsink).
So yes, the QKD-5K can become a Warhammer, and a pretty cool one too.
EDIT:
Oops, forgot to include structure weights- 6T of structure with standard structure. That means with 12 DHS, 2 PPC, 2 ML, 2 SL, 1 SRM6+1t ammo, 10t armor, and STD 240 engine, the full weight is 56.5 tons, leaving only 3.5 tons and 25 critical slots to play with without using Endosteel.
With endosteel we get back three tons, giving a total of 6.5 to play with, but drop to 11 free slots. That's three extra DHS, and 3.5 tons left over (so 1.5 for armor and 2 into upgrading the engine to 250).

If you haven't paid attention all mechs with rear firing lasers have had them moved on the front. It is a matter of practicality, there are issues with rear-camera in CryEngine (no idea why, don't ask), and they're kinda impractical in the actual game for that matter.
This is not trying to be a 1:1 translation of the tabletop game, rather this is an adaptation. If you ask me, they should make a lot more changes for balancing and general fun.
And yes, i'm a fan of Battletech universe, Mechwarrior games, and the tabletop game.

The default version is crap.
I brainstormed one with good armor and good mobility, and decent firepower (brawler). Slight tweaks make it a sniper (PPCs or LLs) with LRMs for support.
