Hearing Russ talk about the Urbie on that town hall, he started out laughing about it, like it was a joke taken too far. In all seriousness, I would actually pilot one of these things, and I would have fun doing it. I would ACTUALLY PILOT ONE. Probably regularly.

But hearing Russ talk about it, he began with that comment about a joke that wouldn't die, but then, as he kept thinking on it, he started marinading on how PGI would actually make one and balance it...

And the Urbie snags another one.

Make it so, Russ: the Call of the Urbie cannot be denied.

I think the Urbanmech should be a real-money only-pack, never released for CBills.
If you think an Urbanmech for $$$ is pay-to-win, then lol @ u mate.

Pack pricing would be $30 to $40
You'd get the following:
  • (3) Urbanmech Variants
  • (3) Mechbays
  • (1) Urbanmech Standing Cockpit Item
  • 7 Days of Premium Time

right here PGI- this is how you can guarantee yourselves a holiday bonus this year... :)

OK howabout this- a new mission setting, in addition to skirmish, conquest and assault: URBIE. Only 12 players in this drop, forming 1 team of mechs- and they have to face 24 ai-controlled Urbanmechs in an urban map like river city. They could even make new maps for it. How tough could it be to rig AI to handle urbanmechs? Those turrets never seem to have a problem frikking hitting me! Ooh! That's it- Make it 18 Urbanmechs and a double helping of turrets. And we need to take their base.

Everyone would play this.

The Avalanche is a medium. Those two are the designated Urbie heavy and Urbie assault varaints respectively.

Sorry. I meant that the Avalance was posted in response to my request for someone to find a medium urbie, since we already have a heavy and an assault (the 2 you previously pointed out)

So, as for the Urbie, let's get some solid ways to make it viable. Higher torso twist, small, squat. Maybe boosted JJ and JJ turn speed. Extra AC/10 armor?

I believe it is going to have a 360 torso twist range. At least that seems to be something the guys at PGI do want to include with it, should it ever see the light of day. Not sure if they can implement it though.

I love the Urbanmech, and that will help tremendously, but it may need a little more love. The thing was a terror to other lights in cities in Battletech, I think it needs something to remain that way.

No armour limit except by weight might do it.

Some good weapons based quirks would help like 50-100% cool down buff on ac-10 (or whichever is the stock weapon for that variant) and a 25-50% range increase on small laser.

So, Has anyone been able to tell a Dev of the pressing need for Urbanmechs in any match's recently?

I encountered one a few days ago. I don't think he believed me.

Considering Russ is only just recently starting to realize that we are serous about this?
Not surprising.

Hah! Post #1275 for this thread! :) I wonder if they'll accept a dare to release the urbie if we get to 1300 posts...

Keep this threat open and maybe the miracle seeing the urbie on the battlefiled will come true.

Problem is, I think, not only would PGI have to do the artwork, they would have to change the calculation of the low end engines. At the moment there are no engines with a rating below 100 but the urbie has an 60 engine.
OK, you could simply put the lowest enigne i.e. 100 in, but than you would be 1,5 tons over. Changing to an xl engine would solve the problem in the tabletop, but not in MWO, since PGI deviated in the process, how engine weight and internal heatsinks are calculated.

But there is a simple solution, we have to make some ammendments and we will not get the ORIGINAL, but a urbie that is a bit faster.
Give the Urbie Endosteel and a fixed standard 100 engine (I don't want to see faster urbies) and you can equip it with the full orginal loadout. :).

If this will not be done, I sincerely hope that we at least get an urbie statue for the cockpit as X-Mas present.
