Why not both? Posted Image

Calling it: Clan Wave IV

Both: yes. But not at the same time, I guess.

Considering the later Russ' tweets, it should really be Wave IV. Run Dasher run!

Me too. Arisen, why don´t you delete that topic and make a new one? This time with the poll with all the battlemechs (don´t forget the Kodiak!) separated by weight classes.

Yes please. :)

I'm already trying to figure out how to scratch together money for that pack, in the event that the Fire Moth makes the cut.

I'm a little worried about the arms getting shot off, but not enough to scare me away.

*sigh* it'd probably be for the best. There's a limit of 20 answers per question and I didn't have the time to fix it.

About the probable assault of the next IS pack:

Longbow
85 tons assault mech
Posted Image

Longbow LGB-7Q
max 310 engine (63.5 km/h)

RA 1m [2m]
RT 1m, 1e [2e]
CT
H
LT 1m, 1e [2e]
LA 1m [2m]

--------------------------
Longbow LGB-0W
max 400 engine (82.0 km/h)

RA 1m [2m]
RT 1m [2m]
CT
H 1e
LT 1m [2m]
LA 1m [2m]

Suggested PGI variants:
--------------------------
Longbow "LGB-7P"
max 400 engine (82.0 km/h)

RA 1m [2m]
RT 1e [2e]
CT 1e
H
LT 1e [2e]
LA 1m [2m]

--------------------------
Longbow "LGB-8P"
max 310 engine (63.5 km/h)

RA 1m [3m]
RT 1m [2m]
CT
H
LT 1m [2m]
LA 1m [3m]

3 year ahead the timeline:
--------------------------
Longbow LGB-7V (3056)
max 310 engine (63.5 km/h)

RA 1m [2m]
RT 2e
CT 1e
H 1e
LT 2e
LA 1m [2m]

As you can see, I balanced the faster variants with 1 less hardpoint.

Well, that's a true assault missile boat. Considering missiles are good now, it could be decent option.

EDIT: I just realized I did this analysis a while ago... (MWO Forums search engine doesn't help really) well, anyway, this looks better.

Heh. The Albatross has, I think, the worst case of mailslot viewport in the history of BTech mech designs. With the viewport being in the back of the beak you can't look up, you can't look down and it looks like you can barely look to either side as well. :) The pilots of that thing must thank the creation of the neurohelmet 360 degree viewstrip every time they sit their arse down in the command couch. :)

Then, think about how difficult it would/should be (relative to most other 'Mechs) to score a hit against the cockpit... ;)

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Albatross

I've always found this chassis visually appealing, and the hardpoints would be diverse. On the flip side, an XL engine on an IS assault is always a risky proposition, and this mech only had 13 tons of armor by default - extensive customization by the player would be needed to make the Albatross a competitive chassis. Then again, selling the stock engine alone would probably cover most of the costs.

not against, but in 3053, I'm more of a Gunslinger kind of guy... or at least a Cerberus.

But man even though the Slinger would be HGN slow and clumsy,
Posted Image
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Gunslinger
Dem Energy Hardpoints.....
plus ballistic arms
ECM
JJ

Also, it has 2 rear facing leg mounted lasers that would be forward mounted torso lasers
and a small laser in the head...

so SEVEN energy hardpoints in head and torso, 5 of which, at least would be hunchback high.
Backed by "fully" articulated arms (well, not fully fully, no hands) with ballistics.

I mean unless it had Awesome hitboxes..what is not to love?

Indeed, very interesting mech! And I would love to see how it will look in the game.

Lets talk about heroes!

Here are the mechs without hero variants and possible canonical heroes:

Light:
- UrbanMech: "Deputy Dawg" FTW!
- Panther: Minobu Tetsuhara's "Katana Kat" (samurai themed mech).
- Wolfhound: Phelan Kell's "Grinner" or Zachary “Hawk” Hawkins' Grit.

Medium:
- Enforcer: Daniel Waylen's mech from "The Fox's Teeth" company.
- Crab: ?

Heavy:
- Grasshopper: Tor Miraborg's mech (maybe named by his nickname "Iron Jarl" or maybe "Mjolnir"? Should have a lot of structure quirks and viking themed painting). Or Lord Stephan Roark's custom Grasshopper (with ECM!)
- Black Knight: Mordon Greensburg's mech, from the Greenburg's Godzillas (green scaled pattern);

Quote

*The Godzillas favor a dark green paint scheme, occasionally accented with lighter green scales and classic "shark teeth" nose art.

Assault:
- Zeus (Sealth's Native-American themed "Skokomish", with a larger engine cap).
- Mauler (Zachary Miles "Hawk" Hawkins' mech, from the Battletech animation series).
- King Crab ('King' Hopper Morrison's pirate themed mech ["King Cobra"? - a referece to the unit's symbol and the pilot's nickname] or Corinth Brody's corporate security themed mech from the Nightwatch) I would love to see this paint scheme (it fits both heroes).

Any of the loremasters can add more candidates to the list? Bait worked as intended.

PS: I don't understand why PGI doesn't release 1 hero mech each month. It's easy (easier) money.

EDIT: updated with info by Strumpedia.

EDIT2: with the Butterbee (2nd Catapult hero) all chassis could have 2 hero variants. From the top of mind, these heroes would be great:
  • "Lady Death" (Paula Trevaline's Orion);
  • "Starbird" (Hanse Davion's Battlemaster);
  • "Cloud Gatherer" (Isoroku Kurita's Hunchback);
  • Li Dok To's Victor;
  • Morgan Hasek-Davion's Atlas;
  • Hassid Ricol's "Red Hunter" Marauder;
  • a "Munnin" Raven hero, and anything PGI can invent.
EDIT3: we will get omni heroes!!

From the OP:
Spoiler
EDIT4: Clan Heroes pack announced.

For the Urbanmech hero I vote Deputy Dawg... or Pocket Awesome... either or....

The Hero Urbanmech I'd like is sadly too far ahead in the timeline.

That would be the one that was built to handle an Arrow IV launcher.

Which was then used to nuke the Kell Hounds. Literally.

I am pretty proud of my Pocket Awesomes. :D
And the Deputy is always ready to lay down the law.

(thanks Spook!)

For Panther, the Katana Kat is the ONLY choice.

PS: I don't understand why PGI doesn't release 1 hero mech each month. It's easy (easier) money.

For the Grasshopper: the personal 'Mech of Tor Miraborg
"Överste-Löjtnant Tor Miraborg: In charge of many of the small unit operations ordered to hunt down the ronin resistance groups fighting throughout the Free Rasalhague Republic, Tor and his Grasshopper not only led the attacks, but also served as the rear guard when retreating. Tor has been injured twice in combat, suffering light wounds when witnesses thought he should have been killed. The Överste-Löjtnant credits his well-designed Grasshopper for his survival."
(TRO 3039, pg. 150)

For the Zeus: "Skokomish", the personal 'Mech of the MechWarrior known as "Sealth"
"MechWarrior Sealth: After his homeworld of Zavijava was attacked, Sealth left a conclave of people all descended from Native North Americans to join the Tenth Skye Rangers to help defend his people. An amazingly graceful MechWarrior, Sealth could move his Zeus as if it were a ’Mech half its weight, making it a difficult target. In the Fourth Succession War he would flank formations, hitting and dodging. While the enemy was distracted by him, the rest of his unit would hit the enemy head on. After the fighting ended, Sealth retired back to Zavijava, taking his forest-green Zeus, Skokomish, with him."
(TRO 3039, pg. 160)

For the Black Knight: the personal 'Mech of Mordon Greensburg
"Colonel Mordon Greenburg: After serving ten years in the Marik Militia, Greenburg left military service and made a name for himself as a combat correspondent, and his coverage of the final years of the Third Succession War made him a household name across the Inner Sphere. In 3027 Greenburg approached his Tharkad Broadcast Company producer with an idea for a documentary series covering the day-to-day lives of a mercenary unit. Thus was born a successful holovid show known as 'Greenburg’s Godzillas'. When network executives canned the show at the outbreak of the Fourth Succession War, Mordon Greenburg chose to remain with the 'cast'.
Exotic by nature of its rarity, Greenburg’s Black Knight is the perfect ride for a holovid star. A relic of his ten years service in the Twenty-third Marik Militia, studio backing restored the ’Mech to its current good condition."
(TRO 3039, pg. 270)

For the King Crab: the personal 'Mech of Corinth Brody
"Corinth Brody: President of the Nightwatch security company, Brody is one of the few independent owners still in possession of a rare KGC-000 King Crab. Its origins remain a mystery; it is rumored by other members of the firm that Brody’s grandfather actually struck it rich lostech prospecting on Caph during the Third Succession War. The Nightwatch usually hire out only as corporate security; the unit has been under contract to Sekkaris Metalworks on Terra since 3038."
(TRO 3039, pg. 278)

For the Mauler: the personal 'Mech of Zachary Miles Hawkins (the character from the BattleTech animated series Posted Image )

For the UrbanMech: Deputy Dawg, retconned as the family 'Mech of Patricia Wellseley (TRO 3039, pg. 108) and her grandson, Paul Wellseley (TRO 3050 Upgrade, pg. 22) Posted Image

There doesn't seem to be much going for the Crab, though.
